  • How often should you get new running shoes? That depends on how quickly they wear out! Some runners get new running shoes every few months. Some running coaches tell runners to replace running shoes every 200 to 500 miles. If you keep running in worn out shoes, you may be putting yourself at risk of an over training injury.
But a lot of different variables can affect how quickly your running shoes wear out. If you understand the variables that can affect how long your running shoes last, you can make much better decisions about how frequently you need to replace your running shoes.
This video by Dr. Christopher Segler talks about how often you should replace worn out running shoes.

I have shoes with over 1200 miles on them , just keep going until they are no longer comfy . There is no set mileage, just like there is no set mileage for how far a week you should run . All my shoes last at least 500 miles 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️ everything else you're told is just to get you to buy more shoes

bought 2 pairs of nike epic react, ran 1000+ miles in one of them, changed to the other, didn't feel any difference. Are my feet just numb and I shouldn't rely on my feeling, are these shoes just incredibly good or do I have some sort of super running style that makes shoes last forever?

Very interesting! Although you can definitely decrease peak forces through the shoe by running with midfoot strike over rearfoot strike, and on softer surfaces, it seems unlikely they could last for 1,000 miles....even with super running style! I would double check visual inspection of the sides of the shoe for wrinkles indicating degeneration of the EVA in the midsole.
