  • Needed to take 2.5 feet off the crest of the hill the slope I think is to great. After welding the hydraulic swing arm mount back together and attempting weld a bolt head on a number 12.9 bolt which didn't last , it seemed to last for at least 3 hours.

I'm very surprised my self, I was wondering when I bought it if it was a bad idea but I'm glad I did.

634 views, but only 9 likes. This man deserves way more likes than this. Using what he's got and getting it done all the same. Well done sir!

I keep watching videos of these machines because I really want one. This video is the best I have seen because it really shows the capabilities both on a hill, on very uneven ground and how important that thumb is. The operator seems very familiar with the machine and makes a tough job look like it is very doable. (notice I didn't say, makes a tough job look easy) The only reason I hesitate to order one is for the following reason. When digging and clearing an area, there is always an enormous accumulation of debris consisting of rocks and dirt etc. which has to be moved away. So, I'm left with a new search for a reasonably prices elec/hydraulic trailer to pull behind my 4×4. That might finally solve my problem.

You are right , you got to have a place to put the dirt or a trailer or a little tractor to move the dirt away.

I tought those machines wouldn't be stable working up hill. You have good skill to work it. Is that one from princess auto ?

Thank you and yes it is one from princess auto and its great going up hill but going down a hill with just the extra weight of the thumb is a bit different cause you have to hold yourself back all the time and the wanting of the machine to tip forward.

@@347trevok so it's better uphill? Did you have any issues that required big repair?

I rebuild all 4 hydraulic rams and had to weld the swing arm mount back together it broke and I had to weld one of the legs mounts back on to cause it got ripped off
They didn't put grease in the wheel bearings and by the time I realized it I had already ruined the bearings.

A good modification for all the ride on trencher/backhoe is to add more weight at the engine location either via underslung weights or weights hung to either side also when working in soft dirt/mud you will want to make a tandem wheel conversion with 20inch od wide tires the single tires will have a tendency to sink preventing movement either forward or backwards

The only pin I replaced was the one for the thumb cause it needed to be longer
