Thank you Craig. Finally re-found my Library again thanks to your instruction---after YEARS of not knowing where it went. Found game apps& files that have been following me to my new iMacs since my now 23 year old son was a kid!!
I was able to delete most of AVG app except AVGTuneup. It say It’s open. I’ve done command q does not work and the docked icon does not show a dot showing it’s open🤷🏻♀️. My computer Mac Pro Catalina 10.15 running slow again after removing the app and all its pieces. thank you
Thank you so much. I have a brand new Mac that I want to keep as clean as possible. I learned my lesson on a windows computer and that’s a lost cause so I’m starting out on the right foot thanks to your help!
I have got this app called CV maker with I never paid for it . Keeps pop up on my mac book pro when I tried to uninstall it the erro massage is , this Item can’t be removed because it’s Open .
I'm not sure about that and it sounds almost like a virus. Try going into the settings and make sure it doesn't open up when the Mac launches and that could fix it.
"sudo pacman -R macos or "sudo apt remove macos" or "suso dnf remove macos". Arch / Debian / Fedora if is installed via the package manager. On Linix you have more control, anyways I wanted to know how ro uninstall software on macOS.
@@craigneidel I know, is just that is little weird to uninstall apps on Apple macOS, and Finder hides the full path on the system. In case someone use brew then is possible "brew remove package"
Do I have to restart the laptop after doing all this? I shutdown my laptop cuz I have to be away for long hours due to work. So this kinda bothers me I new user to macbook pro M1 2021.
Thanks for the tutorial. I’m new to mac as I inherited my late dads 2017 imac 27”. Had fun erasing the hard disc reinstalling latest version of Ventura when you have to fight all the Mac I.D and password security they make you go through. I put in anther 16 gb of ram for total of 24 gb which is so easy to do on on these macs and that’s made it more responsive. I’ve always been a pc user and windows has all those right click functions that Mac doesn’t. It means you have to have a list of keyboard shortcuts to do anything bar simple selecting programs etc. I can’t install my printer as there is no Mac software for it and after trying some later model printer software that didn’t work and deleting the printer the Mac won’t even recognise a printer now. I’m hoping there is left over fragments of the software that needs to be all cleared out to make it recognise a printer???🤗🤗🤗
You will get used to the Mac and love it I promise you. The Mac does have right-click functions but you need to turn them on in the system settings and then it will act more like a Win PC. Yes, Mac does take specific printer models so sometimes it's hard to use an old printer but usually there are drivers. Good luck with everything.
@@craigneidel I will have to look into those right click function settings. It’s been a big learning curve going from pc to Mac and I’m learning how things work on Mac OS. Just a bit frustrating when you know pc’s inside out and things don’t work the same on Mac but good for the brain on a 68 yr old. 😀
It drives me crazy why Mac os and those engineers are not making two unninstal process, a short and a deep unninstal. All the bullshit about security, yet the force you to dl 3rd party software from unknown publishers to cleanly uninstal program or just doing it by hand as if we were in 1980. It's just suck.
Most are easy to uninstall but I agree that some of the programs that they don't let you remove they should. It's just one of those Apple things that's not always the best.
Thank you for this clear presentation. I've now made a screenshot of the places to go to to search for extra files. I understand your distaste for uninstaller apps. I have, however, used one of those, App Cleaner, for years with no problem after seeing it reviewed favourably on several Mac-orientated websites. It's freeware/donationware and distributed by Freemacsoft. There are other uninstallers out there but I haven't tried them and can't vouch for them. I will now be using it as before but checking that it's done a good job by referring to your list!
Thanks for sharing and watching. Yes, there are a few good ones that can help clean the Mac but there are a few that have produced some viruses. But, I guess that can be said about most applications. I'll need to check that one out and thanks for sharing again.
Hi Craig, I know you mentioned other programs and your resistance to them, which is cool. If you were inclined to try one that I believe is rock solid and I have used for years and years is appcleaner. I'm not affiliated, its just a real nice easy to use small program.
Ok, thank you. I just try and keep my systems clean but I have a few that I do testing on etc. I just don't like the idea of having something do something for you that you can do yourself. That is just me though and I know people are different. Thanks for the info.

What if you don’t have an options key? I am not using an apple keyboard.
I guess you might need to map it somehow then.
Been having a problem with an app not opening, tried a bunch of things that didnt help. this process helped me sort out theissue THANKS

Some things you cannot uninstall on the Mac unfortunately if it's part of the system.

When I drag the files into the trash, it creates a copy to the trash but the files still stay in my Applications. How do I fix this?
Are you dragging the files or a alias of them?
Thanks for sharing your insight.

use app cleaner
Some people don't like to use third party cleaner apps but I agree it's an option for some for sure.

I wish macOS just had uninstall. It is kind of messy how they do it.
Yes, it is pretty easy for Apples issued using the App store but harder for Apps you download on the Web.
I looked through 2-3 videos and no one can tell me directly....I used to be on a PC and you just right click on the software and pick "uninstall" lol
I hoped the video helped
