When I was 6-10 years old, I would always want to skip school so I could eat a large bowl of cereal while watching Martha Stewart. I come from a derelict background, my feet would have about 1/4 inch of caked on dirt, I didn’t have my own room until I was an older adult, I sometimes slept on rat infested floors and Martha Stewart was my glimmer of hope. A hope for a better future, a hope to have my own space and to be able to make the beautiful things she made. Her show was my escape. I love watching these videos and I’m so happy they’re so accessible now. Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there that serve as inspiration for the next generation of women!
I so relate to your comment! I also came from a tough family, and watching Martha Stewart was such an escape. Everything in her world is clean, quiet, well-organized, and cordial...she was a bit of a fantasy mother to me and I have learned SO much from her - watching her shows all these years.💜
So beautiful to hear your joyful progress into a life that is more full. May you know that your deep inner growth showed in your comments. Thank you for bringing that growth to earth. Food is a universal comfort and joy. A beautiful home starts in the heart of the creator. God Bless.
Martha, you're a little older than I am, but I remember my mom making rice pudding also. And I remember the clink of milk bottles and the bell ringing from the fruit man. They were the best of days! Thanks you for sharing your mom's recipes.
I had my daughter late in life. We used to watch your show when your mother would join you. My daughter used to look for your picture in magazines when she was two. She would get very excited to see Marta! Now she is 31 and loves to cook and garden!
These videos are wonderful. For all of us whose mothers are no longer here, you have evoked many happy memories of the times spent in the kitchen with our Moms. Thanks

I used to watch Martha back in the day and it looks like Martha haven’t aged @ all., I used to Enjoy Cooking not so much anymore 7-15-2024. It’s my 69 birthday today Martha 🎊🎊🎉🎉❤️
Yes, Martha, YOU definitely ARE a teacher. Others may go to a Teacher's College...but, you had the best teacher prep EVER, with the parents you were gifted with.
I use to watch your show everyday. I remember Big Martha being on there often. She was such a joy. This was a wonderful tribute to her. Happy Mother’s Day.💕💕💕💕
I'm a Mexican German descendant in California my sister married Bill price who was and is a Polish descent and lived in Baltimore unfortunately this marvelous wonderful polish man that married my sister was the greatest gift as a son-in-law and husband to my sister Martha Flores and brother-in-law to her sisters sisters and brothers and was an uncle to our family how we miss him so severely the sweetest man on Earth a heart of gold thank you Bill price for all the wonderful things you did to Marta flores's family CanteroFlores my brother-in-law Bill price and my sister Martha and I would watch Martha Stewart shows way back when like 20-30 years ago I think it was
I always loved Martha's Mother's guest spots and enjoyed her wonderful cooking skill and tips as well as the way the two women interacted, always supportive and learning from each other. What a treat this is.
Martha, the level of respect that you always showed to your mother is truly heartwarming. Thank you for sharing these special moments with us. ~ Happy Mother’s Day!! 🪴
I love Ms. Stewart's very passive-aggressive mother. She was a gem. Ms. Stewart: "Another thing I add is pignoli nuts." Mother: "Oh, yeah, PINE nuts." LOL Ms. Stewart: "You can julienne it or chaffonade those." Mother: **Proceeds to just rough chop** Ms. Stewart: "This is a very rustic dish, the way I make it." Mother (sarcastically): "Yeah, I never had it quite this way." Ms Stewart: "This is Alexa's favorite." Mother (sarcastically): "Oh, yeah, she's a vegetarian, isn't she." Ms. Stewart: ".......so, no turkey for her. She did have turkey when she was little." Mother (sarcastically): "Yeah, when she was little, she had everything."
I miss your Living show so much! I watch the reruns daily on Roku and especially love the ones with Big Martha! Being 100% Polish she reminds me of.my.mom and my Bushia!
I've watched you and your mom cook together for years. I love seeing the respect you've always given your mother. You've always been my inspiration Martha. Your cookbooks and home items are by far my favorite! Thank you for sharing this heartfelt tribute.
I am 100% Polish and my Mom made the same exact Macaroni and Cheese as your Mom, but she used the tomato soup just like your Grandmother did. Maybe it’s a Polish thing… we loved it on a Fri night when no meat was allowed. 🥰 also, my Grandmother was Babci too.
I immigrated to USA 12 years ago and even before I would always watched her movies and read about her in different magazines . I love that she is full options woman or to set the records , she is a super model woman for me at least. Thank you Martha ❤
OMG, best meatloaf EVER!!!! (Not addressed here) I never liked meatloaf until I made Mrs. Kostyra's meatloaf. So good! But omg those tomatoes look so fantastic.
Thank you for a wonderful memory ! My maternal grandmother was polish and she would make pirogies from scratch ( dough and all also) this was a special treat on Christmas Eve we would eat with sour cream thank you for all your other amazing recipes cooking tips and decorating ideas with all your other life hacks you are a true a national treasure!
🌹🌹 You and your mom could do anything and so well !! I always loved seeing her on your show !!🍯Happy Mother’s Day to Martha and every mom on here ! Blessings from California ! 💐🦋
I met your Mom at an event in Westport. She was so nice and I’ll never forget it. ❤❤I loved watching you both on your show and still make your recipes today. 😊
Martha, I have LOVED you and you and Big Martha ❤working side by side in the kitchen over the years. Thank you for creating this compilation! Your show was always so special!! ❤
Dear Martha, what a pleasure to see your mother with you. Thank you for your introduction. I love you and your mom reminds me of my grandmother it brings up the sweet memories. Thank you for sharing ❤ God bless you all. ❤
Seems like not enough sugar for the rice pudding, but it may be perfect. As much as I would love this, I can’t eat any starchy carbs or it triggers me to binge. Martha Stewart’s videos are some of the best cooking presentations. They hold up over time.
What a lovely tribute to your mother and memorable kitchen experiences with her. As a precaution though, viewers should be sure to only follow updated canning practices from a reputable canning resource such as Ball or many university or state extension programs. Updated practices include adding bottled lemon juice or citric acid to each jar to achieve acidity levels that prevent botulism in water bath canned vegetables. Nowadays, with the huge variety of hybrid tomatoes, tomato acidity is no longer a given. Also, headspace recommendation is now 1/2 inch. A non metallic debubbler is the recommended tool for removing air bubbles.
Like it to see your mom w you a learn alot how life were hard but you did alot from your mom life was different..canned alot as my grandma marie was a good cook a baker as I grew up.a also mil a aunts were great as I was a young wife a also aunt German decent a polish lady's haha good cooking the50a60as I knew a mac a cheese..😊😊😊❤❤❤
I loved al, your family history,,,you took me back to my Hungarian wonderful cooking companion ...always delicious as all your cooking...what a wonderful blessing meeting you all wonderful family🥰💯💝
My first impression of Martha Stewart was that she came from a privileged background, given her well-modulated voice and impeccable home. But these episodes with her mom Big Martha reveal her average middle class upbringing. When Martha talks about growing up in her family, you can see that the telling evokes warm feelings and pleasant memories.
@@mygirldarby I guess it depends on where you draw the line between middle class and upper middle class. Per Wikipedia, her parents were both teachers, though her father switched careers and went into pharmaceutical sales. They don't sound like they were poor, but I think of upper middle class as "easily able to put your kids through college," and since Martha picked up modeling gigs to pay her college tuition I'm inclined to think they were solidly middle class.
I think is her mother polish babka sweet bread recipe, should be made one day in advance, is her favorite breakfast and you can found several video recipes that both of them.
Who taught Big Martha how to cook so well? She grew up in the depression era and I am curious if she taught herself considering that she was a teacher later in her life.
Good afternoon thank you for your meals are very good. Can I give our best Morocco meals if you want. If any one want one person for cooking to work for him I'm hear.

I come from a derelict background as an adult starting at 23 even though I am a multiple award winner as a child
So beautiful to hear your joyful progress into a life that is more full. May you know that your deep inner growth showed in your comments. Thank you for bringing that growth to earth. Food is a universal comfort and joy. A beautiful home starts in the heart of the creator. God Bless.
Why not just buy canned tomatoes in the store?

Mom: Not really.
Martha: I brought the milk to a boil 😂😂❤❤🎉

Martha’s mac & cheese is typical of Polish folks from Jersey City using the can of tomato soup and milk. My mom used to make it this way.
Lovely tribute to your Mom. Thank you for sharing.
Happy Mother's Day, may your day be very happy and full of joy, just like every other day of your life

Martha was pretty privileged though. She was upper-middle class.

Greens including spinach can be put in the washing machine. Put on delicate cycle with cold water. No detergent, of course. No more gritty greens.
