i dont get the hate that cartoon covers get because i personally like the artist who does the icebreaker series. people have been complaining about real people on covers for years and now its illustrated covers??? personally I prefer a more discreet cover so I'm not reading a book with a shirtless dude on the cover in the metro
19:58 I think that what makes college romances hit so hard is because this is specifically the time and place that we are actually expected to try to figure out our lives and try to figure out love at the same time, make mistakes, be stupid and grow! Of course, people in their 30s or 40s can still be trying to figure these things out, but inevitably when reading a romance about "older" characters there is a certain expectation that they are not completely clueless about life, otherwise it does get annoying (coff coff Lucy Score I'm thinking about you...) So yeah, i totally get what you are saying and do agree that reading about college students finding love just hits different!!
i had wildfire on my tbr but thought i needed to read icebreaker before and really didn't vibe with those characters, so i took off all hannah grace from my radar. you've made me change my mind!!
I have this one requested on Libby already. I enjoyed Icebreaker (3 stars) and Wildfore (4 stars) and Henry has been a cute character in both books so I’m excited for him to have his own HEA
If you're looking for another book with a native main character, I really loved Sex, Lies and Sensibility by Nikki Payne! It's a Sense and Sensibility retelling and has tons of pining and simmering desire. I recommend it
I actually kinda liked icebreaker although i can understand the criticism but i LOVED wildfire. I was obsessed with the characters and character development and im actually really looking forward to reading daydream
I agree that while Icebreaker is a little overrated, it's still worth reading (even if you skim some parts) to set up the other books which are really good! My favorite thing about Icebreaker was the chemistry of the friend group.
icebreaker is not my favorite book i've read this year. i think i originally rated it 3 stars and then bumped it down to 2 stars because i sat with it a little longer, but i definitely think that book draws WAY more ire than necessary. hannah grace writes such fun, relatable characters and icebreaker was a quick, easy read, even if there were parts of it that didn't work for me. i think people really just look for excuses to be assholes and then expect others to fall in line with their opinions 😭 but honestly i was already considering giving wildfire a chance and you've convinced me, as you so often do LMAO
I said this in my review for Icebreaker and i'll reiterate it now: people project their hatred for smutty books/romance readers/cartoon covers onto Icebreaker even though it absolutely doesnt deserve all that ire. It was just fine, and not nearly as horrendous as other books that don't even get a fraction of its hate 😭 This is coming from someone who gave it 2 to 3 stars! That being said, you've sold Daydream to me, for sure will be picking it up !!
I say this as someone who has read a lot of rubbish, I couldn't get through Icebreaker. To me it was that bad. Fair enough if people like it, that's fine, or people like you who think it was average, but I am someone who genuinely thought it was unreadable. I don't think I'm projecting in that, you're welcome to think I am, and I'm not saying there aren't people who are projecting, but there are people, like me, who thought it was unreadable it was so bad.
I enjoyed Icebreaker. But I don’t enjoy 90% of the things that TT goes nuts over - particularly the “dark” romance. I did really enjoy Spellshop but you might find it boring. It’s a cozy fantasy with a dash of romance that I saw on TT first.
I’m so sad that The Truth According to Ember seems to not be super good, because it is I believe the first traditionally published romance by a Native American author with a Native American protagonist. But I’m hoping it will still open doors for other romances like this to get published in the future. If you wanna read a really good romance with a Native American FMC albeit not by a Native American author (BUT by Queen Kennedy Ryan), The Kingmaker is great! The FMC’s heritage is also really central to the plot and knowing Kennedy Ryan as an author she did a lot of research I would think.
The thing about icebreaker is that the first 100 pages were just so messy the heroine was so annoying but the rest of the book is just so good that it makes it a worthwhile read
My b&n in coastal NC also has daydream out early and i was so confused?? Cant decide if its more or less weird knowing its happened at other locations lol
my b&n right outside of Seattle did too! i was so confused because i pre-ordered it from bookshop and didn’t have it, but it turns out it wasn’t even out yet!
Loved the video and will definitely pick up one of Hanna Grace’s books because of your review. You should definitely read Up the Ladder by Ana D’Arcy. It’s her debut novel and was released earlier this year. It’s super good.
When books come out earlier than the official release date, the author does not get any of the sale money. It’s really weird, bookstores sometimes put out highly anticipated books out days sometimes weeks before release on the shelves to get an advantage in the marketplace. And sometimes the books arrive too early and if it’s a book that doesn’t have a strict sell date it gets put on the shop floor.
So we do have a spooky town here in central Florida lol am I may need to read Haunted Ever After to see if it’s based on that 😂 it’s more like a lot of mediums, psychics, witches, etc. as opposed to “haunted” specifically. Cassadega is the town and it’s about 30 miles outside of Orlando
So excited to hear your thoughts on Daydream I enjoyed icebreaker but didn’t think it was AMAZING haven’t read wildfire yet. I’ve read your goodreads review but can’t wait to see your reactions and the check ins you do. Sending love ❤️ ragdoll cat?? I’m sold 😻

Chandler! I got a puppy this last week and her name is Pepper! idk why but I wanted to tell you 😂
awww love it

You were so much fun to watch like we’re friends spilling over our resent reads 💜 subscribed
Your videos always put me in the mood for reading! Hoping this fixes my reading slump and helps me pick my damn books up 😂
I think you nailed it when discussing the tonal issues with haunted ever after. It was trying to be a lot but ended up coming across as bland.

Absolutely love these videos ❤ I will be picking up Daydream on your recommendation 📖
I actually kinda liked icebreaker although i can understand the criticism but i LOVED wildfire. I was obsessed with the characters and character development and im actually really looking forward to reading daydream
Ooh! The Truth According to Ember was my Aardvark pick for the month. Interesting to hear your thoughts 😊

I love Hannah Grace so I was stoked to hear you go on and on about her books 🥰🥰🥰

The B&N in Reno, NV did the same thing with Daydream. Wasn’t mad about it though.
California barnes and noble put stood out early sometimes too. 😊

@bugwandis that's because you are dramatic.
@@poprocks8316 if you think that's dramatic you should see the characters in Icebreaker.

I liked Icebreaker, we dont have to all love the same thing but I don’t get all the hate for it. Looking forward to Daydream!
And there is me still waiting for daydream because my translation got pushed back to december
Haunted ever after sounds so good 🥹

Okay wait, Cassie is the main character lol Cassie short for Cassadega? I feel like that has to be true
And st Augustine is all kinds of spooky too. Wives in towers and ghosts all over the place 😅
@@kelleyeasterling it definitely is!
I started The Truth According to Ember, but the writing didn’t work for me. I loved the premise though.
omg!! i was just craving a romance but i haven’t found one that i wanna read lollll so perfect timing!! 🫶🏽🫶🏽
Oh you made me curious about daydream though I haven't read the other two books in the series, do you feel like it's necessary?
no it's not

Do you have to read icebreaker to follow the other two books? I have no desire to read icebreaker but the other two I would like to.
no you don't
