Okay... OKAY... I just realized something. I think I understand the whole story now. SO. The game started with us daydreaming (the player in game), then Samantha tells us "Heh, is that your fantasy?", because what the player wanted to be and dreamt of, was to be the best racer in the town. But now, when you finish the game, you are the best racer and you got Eddie's girl, Melissa, but then... just then, think. You are in a video game, and the line repeats itself: "Heh, is that your fantasy?", now meaning, that you are "daydreaming" in the real life to have had such an experience, racing the streets, and winning, becoming the best, yet you were in front of a PC screen all this time. FUCKING SHIT.

One thing I noticed was Samantha says something like “for you it was all about the racing” maybe implying she liked you??
Maybe that’s why she got so mad when Eddie makes you race against her.
She definitely liked the Player as a friend, that's why she felt betrayed. Samantha also helped to start a new career in Bayview.

Ive been playing this lately and theres some things i like about underground that the other need for speed games dont have. Particularly the interface and the way in which the game is presented to you. Underground and most wanted 2 sure were better but theres just something i really like about the menu in the first and how the car is rolling, the music, and camera view. Very catchy.
Videos should get more attention
I just finish underground for the first time and I can relate it better than modern nfs games but damn the story in some ways is...what it is a think XD
