Awesome video, congrats! I was happy to see it pop up on my feed, the direction of that storm was perfect I wish it had a little more wind with it so we could get access to some really old areas. I just wanted to say I am incredible happy for your success and hope to see you get more of a RUclips algorithm push like this video is getting. It really only takes one to grab attention then hopefully the new subs eat up your existing content. Keep it up and remember us little guys when your channel gets huge. 👏👏👍👍🤙🤙
Haha! Thank you Jim! I was very surprised to see the view count on this one for sure, but I hope it keeps going. You know better than most that it takes a lot of effort to create and maintain a channel. It’s a virtual “pat on the back” when the numbers confirm that someone is paying attention. We need to get together for a hunt somewhere sometime. Thank you for commenting, and GOLD LUCK to you, Sir!
Hi , new viewer here . The tag is probably a cremation I D tag . One goes in every urn . The ocean is a very popular place for cremains . We find loads of them here on Daytona Beach . I would try identifying it through a local crematory and possibly return it to the family if they want it . Great video !
I thoroughly enjoyed your Treasure Hunting that beach you were on and all the finds that you made and its refreshing that you can retrieve in a manner that seems it's a continuous sweeping action, of sorts.
Thank you very much! I try to keep it fun and keep my target retrieving quick to keep it interesting. I also do what I can to show the beauty of the surroundings as well. Thank you so much for watching!
Awesome video & hunt. I agree with you on Serious Detecting, I had recently done the same ordered the wrong item, they credited back the cost + shipping even out here in the islands. Excellent service and communication!
Thank you for that. Good to know it’s a cremation tag. This was actually about a month ago. The hunts I’ve had after this were sanded in. I briefly went to Virginia last weekend, so I’ll have a Civil War Video out in the coming weeks. HH!
WOW the clad you to dug is amazing . Congrats on the gold and silver rings ..You are lucky that you are not up here in Nh we are getting pounded with snowfall.. lol I might be able to get out and swing by summer if winter storms keeps coming the way they are.. Peace
I was in upstate NY last week and I don’t blame you for not going out in the cold. I also went to Virginia briefly last weekend and managed to sneak in a quick hunt for CW relics. Video will be out in 2 weeks. Have a great one Dan!
Hello Gregg it's nice to see someone detect in my own backyard and make a video. I'm a S.D native I detect as well mostly in La Mesa area have not done the beaches yet don't like the crowds. Subbed.
Good to see someone on RUclips who can pinpoint. Drives me nuts to watch guys scoop and dump, then scoop and kick the pile. Nice hunt with great conditions. Don’t see them often here on the other coast. HH
Thank you. I figure it’s a waste of precious time to fumble around finding a target. The conditions were exceptional….haven’t been like that since 2017, and it was sanded back in the next day. Thank you for watching!
I wad up a couple paper towels and stuff them in my bottle, so can separate fragile stuff, or put the goods on the bottom. Had a nice 18k rattle around for couple hours, when I got home 2 of the emeralds had popped out...
As usual, a great video, and very successful too! As to your comments about serious, detecting company, my decision to go with one company or another, for anything, is often largely based on great customer service. I agree with you 100%!
Thank you! I sounded like an advertisement (I’m not sponsored), and it was essentially, but businesses deserve recognition for taking care of people….most businesses have lost the focus on customer service these days.
I like your hunts wish we had as much sand moving here in swfl. The gulf dosent work as hard. Alot like me keep it up. Oh i did find a 1924 Mercury in the wet sand it was fun
I go to Tampa every once in a while. Clearwater and St. Petersburg beaches have waves like our bays. Not much going on. I still enjoy detecting the Gulf side of Florida because it’s beautiful…..although I’ve never pulled up more pull tabs and bottle caps anywhere else. Congrats on the Merc! I love finding silver. Thank you for watching, and GOLD LUCK!
Agree. As a newbie it was a good reminder how conditions change. I could have stayed at that beach for another 90 minutes but said I will just come back tomorrow. Lesson learned.
Yes, it turned out being a cremation tag. This beach was sanded in the next day. I’m glad I was able to be out there at that time. Thank you for watching!
Crazy I just scooped a cremation tag up last night. I didn't bother looking at it till this morning. so now that I know what it is I'm going to be taking it back out and throwing it back out into the ocean don't want no bad vibes.
That’s actually the 11” that comes with the machine. I have the repair tab for my 15”, so I’ll have that back in action soon. Thank you for your regular views and comments, Launa!!

Sounds like you have an amazing spot! Don’t share it! Lol I’ve heard good things about the separation of the 700’s and 900’s. I’ll be trying a 700 in Virginia next month. I’m looking forward to it.

Thank you for subscribing! Tips or suggestions is tough because it depends on the type of detecting you’re going to be doing. Otherwise, the basics: -stay patient, and know that you’ll spend most of your time digging trash, and that’s ok. -learn your machine. This is important so you can reduce the amount of trash you dig. The more you detect, the more you learn your machine. -swing the coil as close to the ground as you can, all the way from left to right. Working on your swing will be the best thing you can teach yourself. You’ll see lots of detectorists 1” from the ground in front of them, then 12” on the far left and right (like a pendulum). -Worth mentioning twice: get to know your machine
If I can’t find the owner of an item I hang onto it, but I do have a jeweler I visit once a year or so to sell some items. He works out of his house in La Jolla, and doesn’t advertise his business. As a result, I can’t mention the name. I was introduced to him years ago by one of my buddies. It’s hard to find an honest jeweler anywhere, so I was fortunate. Prior to him I went to countless jewelers, pawn shops, gold traders, but most didn’t seem to be honest. Some would even try to tell me that items that I knew to be gold weren’t…..but they still wanted to buy them from me for Pennie’s on the dollar. Long winded, but there is no easy answer. It’s another thing detectorists need to spend time and research to find a fair vendor
Tom and I use a “solid Tech” brand, and it works great. It doesn’t look like there in business anymore, but I see one on Amazon called “Vevor Professional” that looks the same
I’m using my Xtreme Titanium in this video. I also have a Stealh 720 that I use. The Stealth is a beast that can handle whatever I dig. The Xtreme is nice because it’s extremely light weight, but if I ever end up in sand with lots of rocks I have concerns of chipping the leading edge.
Hi! I'm 22 years old born and raised in SD. Navy veteran and currently in college. Would you ever consider doing a ride along for fun? This seems like an interesting hobby to get into. BTW I just stumbled upon your channel

which metal detector did you use for this video? Also when are the best days to go metal detecting at the beaches? and any trouble with law enforcments? I plan to go to san diego soon
I’m using my equinox 800 in this video. Best days to go is whenever you can. The ocean is constantly moving sand around….burying targets, then uncovering them, etc. unless there’s a big storm coming in, it’s hard to predict when to go. I’d suggest checking the tide charts and getting a good low tide. Ideally I’ll go out 2-3 hours before the peak low tide and follow the water in. No issues with detecting on any beach in San Diego. There are no laws against it, just be sure to fill your holes. Popular beaches are mission beach, Ocean Beach, La Jolla Shores Beach, and many others in the north county. I hope this answers your questions. GOLD LUCK, and thanks for watching!
I haven’t used an Ace in quite some time, but if you’re using an Ace, it’ll work in the dry sand, but may have lots of feedback in the wet sand by the water. It’s not meant for saltwater detecting
Good point, I forgot about that area, but I’m usually near the water, so I don’t have any issues. Immediately in front of the Hotel Del Coronado, and immediately in front of the resort at the south side if LJ Shores. Stay down by the water and you’ll be fine.

hi Gregg, nice hunt , i believe that shiny dog tag you called it is maybe a cremation tag.
Thank you! It turns out that is exactly what it is.
