  • My son was at IKEA with my wife and brought home this TSA lock for me. What a nice gesture. Let's have a close look to this low security padlock. It picks open in seconds and decodes just little longer.

I just came from traveling, I carried 2 suitcases, and one of them didn’t open when I tried to. I am 1000 sure I was putting the right code because it was the same for both, and the other one did open. So I came here and found your tutorial and within 3 seconds I opened mine. And yes! It was changed. Luckily the inside was untouched. Thanks for your video.

I had gotten the combos of a set of four of these little locks all mixed up, but the trick of putting pressure on the locking mechanism and turning the wheels until they all felt loose saved at least one of my locks from a cable cutter. Thanks!

That is a nice gift from your son! I bet he was happy to see you using it on a video. If you ever fail at pulling the shackle to decode it you can use a knife decoder and feel for the false gates and do it that way. Keep up the good work!

Very interesting video my friend, I have a TSA lock a little like this, I have discovered that it is also difficult to decode, but it's really easy to pick. My lock has a complete ring (without a cutout) and when the master key (or pick) is used the ring is actually retracted down into the lock.

    • @Potti314
      @Potti314  6 лет назад +3

Thanks for the feedback. These locks are very weak so you can open them with a screwdriver with force and you can decode them if you know how. For a real criminal these locks are not a barrier at all but for crimes of opportunity it slows down the thief.

For all you asking what these TSA’s locks are good for is traveling only, the TSA have the master keys, because they can and probably will open your baggage if needed to, however in a crowded area it’s difficult for the criminal to crack a lock and not get caught. You should never use for another purpose but locking your baggage, backpack, purse, etc.

These locks are not meant as a protection against theft.
They only prevent your zipper from opening on itself.
I mean... You put them on a suitcase or backpack with a ZIPPER... You don't even need to touch the lock to open the bag.
I couldn't open my lock by decoding. Somehow I can't get the feeling for the right klicks. Maybe the lock is already to much used.
BTW... You can use a toothpick to open the TSA lock... Just for fun :-)

I have a TSA002 lock (black) that have been using same password for years, but now it couldn't lock even when it's put to the right password. Anyway to fix it?

You say "it couldn't lock even when it's put to the right password". What do you mean? Is it not possible to lock it up anymore?

Potti314 the metal thing couldn’t pressed down even when I put to the password, is it because it became faulty already? Was wondering if the Mechanic is messed up inside.

Maybe the code has changed accidentally - try to align the shackle over the hole and push down and try to decode it closed.

@@Potti314 This is good advice. Start with the top dial while pressing down instead of starting with the bottom dial pulling up. Just fixed mine that someone had evidently forced open.

Play with the tension. Probably you're not pulling hard enouch. But that's the fun - to develop the right feeling.

With the right code entered, you have to turn the shackle around and push it down to change the code.
