    Just a small tip: It'd be great if you went over the picking pattern. My personal opinion. Thanks for the vid!

      IrregularStar Hey! Picking is entirely alternate. I start with an upstroke. Whichever direction you decide to start with is entirely up to you.

    It's been 2 weeks and I am still stuck with slow speed like you played for the first time. Any tips on how can I play in the original rate?

    • @derekyukna4480
      @derekyukna4480  3 года назад +2

      As cliche as it sounds, take your time and play it super slow. Using a metronome is super beneficial when it comes to building speed. Only play it at a speed you can play without pausing at all in the middle of the run. Wishing you the best!

    This lick may be a bit of a struggle if you start with a down picking motion. Start with an up picking motion to begin the lick. Derek is doing it but didn't say it.

      Tanks!! That was my question

    • @user-ht1xi8uk8l
      @user-ht1xi8uk8l 4 года назад

      I'm not sure if that's a good idea, by the way it is possible all notes at the end to be played on the 3rd string (without the 4th one).

    • @derekyukna4480
      @derekyukna4480  4 года назад

      Bob Holland correct! I start this lick with an upstroke. Totally player preference, but it felt more natural to begin with an UP for this particular lick

  • @ZanderShepard
    @ZanderShepard 2 года назад

    I can play this slow at about 30-40% speed, but it gets so hard when i go to the higher strings. Practicing on a metronome now but I kinda get lost trying to play it slow on the 3/4 beat. What should I do?

    • @derekyukna4480
      @derekyukna4480  2 года назад +1

      Hey! So first question-are you starting with an upstroke? Makes this particular run easier. Also, breaking it into fragments and playing really slow (as you’re doing) can really be beneficial. So sorry for the delayed reply!

    • @ZanderShepard
      @ZanderShepard 2 года назад +1

      @@derekyukna4480 the upstroke felt really weird as im a guy who starts on a downstroke but i figured if i were to slant my pick to allow a better escape motion for even note runs then its all good. also yeah, i actually managed to fragment the solo into workable chunks! I can play the solo at full speed now, just that the higher strings still get a lil wonky from time to time 😅
