Very good video, plenty of detail and good instructional commentary. Pay no attention to geraldguenard4095. The one and very important thing you missed was that you did not remove the bleeder screw when you opened the petcock on the water separator and waited for pure fuel to flow out(removing the air from the separator). That's why it turned over several times before starting. The tractor will shut off after it heats up and will become hard to start. I literally just chased my tail for a week trying to figure out why it kept quitting 30 minutes or so into brush hogging. Thought I was having over heating issues..... Found a comment on GreenTalk forum of someone having the same issue after servicing their tractor. I went through the steps of cleaning the separator again with the bleeder removed and bingo, issue is fixed. Strange thing is that it took about 6 hours of accumulated run time before it quit the first time. After that it was every 30 minutes down to 5 or 10 minutes until I solved it. Now I'm 10 hours deep brush hogging with no more issues. My tractor is a 2012 model 2720. It has the same separator and petcock/bleeder screw as that 1028 has. The screw is right next to the pivot poit of the petcock. My advice is close the valve, remove the screw, open the valve, rplace the screw after just fuel flows from the whole. I'm sure the dealer would charge a nice little fee to figure that little detail out. I talked to two service departments, all they could advise me was to bring it in and they would go through it to see why it keeps quitting. You wouldn't think that such a tiny amount of air in the system would cause such an issue. I'm thinking as the machine warmed up the sir expanded. Literally would not start till it sat several minutes (till the air cooled off) Good luck, and again, good video.
You know you're right. I didn't think it would be that tight, but my heat gun would have made it loads easier. Next time yell louder at the screen so I can hear you 😂 Thanks for watching I appreciate you.
I really hope your John Deere dealer has a better warranty service. I had a hood latch break free from my 1025R (25 hours and 4 months old). I called my Florida dealer to confirm it was covered under warranty. They said yes. Instead of taking the whole tractor in, I removed the hood and went to the dealer. Now the dealer said I voided the warranty for doing service myself. I was pissed. But luckily, I called my old dealer from when I lived in Indiana, and they said send the hood to them and they would cover it. I got a brand-new hood and they even picked up the cost of shipping.
That's one of the biggest reasons people buy green is for great dealer support. Sorry you had to deal with that. On that pioneer fitting on the front loader that went bad at only a year old and 104hrs , I had to fix it myself and pay for the part ($22). I'm personally sticking with TYM. Thank you for watching. I appreciate you.
Let me share an awful JD dealer story. A friend of mine bought a used 60ish hp Deere with a factory cab. Tractor had over 1000 hours on it. Immediately was hard to start. Deere dealer came and hauled it back to their shop. Dealer ended up rebuilding the engine at zero cost to my friend. The tractor had over 1000 hours on it. Most people who bad mouth Deere are simply not willing to pony up the $. BTW, why wasn't the oil changed before 100 hours when the cost of materials is minimal? The tractor was obviously used in dusty conditions .
@@scottnugent4791 I'm not sure. It's not my tractor. My understanding is the dealer did the 50hr stuff. As you can see, the air filter was the only thing in poor condition. Ken has done a great job of keeping the tractor and loader greased. It spends it's life mostly mowing the lawn so of course it's going to need air filter service more often. I'd like to hear more about your friends tractor. That's great that he got that kind of service. Thanks for commenting.
@@BuddyG54 dealer said the tractor was good. Within a few hours of use, it became hard to start. Dealer picked it up and diagnosed the problem . Two cylinders had very low compression. New engine in that size would have taken a few weeks to get. They did a full rebuild at zero cost to my friend. I don't see how p poor dealers stay in business. I live within 30 minutes of 5 Deere dealers and also their major parts distribution center. About 40 minutes from their world headquarters. Interesting place to visit.
You should of installed a small shut off valve were small filter was and moved the small filter further up on the fule line. Would make changing it easier next time.
You are absolutely right. You'd think Deere would have done that from the factory and located it in a convenient safe place. Thanks for watching and commenting. I appreciate you.
Nope I'm not a mechanic. Just a DIY guy, but everything I work on continues to work and if it's broke, I fix it. Been doing it my whole life. Including race cars in NASCAR, Indy Car, CART, IMSA and Trans Am Series. 🏁 Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate you.
Just bought a 1025R this year, glad to find your channel. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Thanks, great video!!
Congratulations on your purchase. Thanks for watching! I appreciate you.

Thank you! And thank you for that info. Bleeding the air is important in diesels for sure.
I appreciate you watching and subscribing.
Man, heat that rubber hose with a heat gun, fore and aft. So glad l bought my BELARUS new back in 1993. That looked like a lawnmower filter 😂

I like how they separated the toy departments according to age and wallet size.
Haha 10-4! Thanks for tuning in!
Attention to detail is so important, says the guy who dumped clean oil on the engine.
That was a spill not a dump. In other words it wasn't intentional. Stuff happens. Thanks for watching.

Good morning! Testing the RUclips premier feature.
Sir. you have a good tractor but you are not a mechanic.
