Im not sure about the modesty part, not because it couldn’t be, but because I suspect she’s not happy with the way her bare upper arms look. My upper arms didn’t look good when I was young, but I only became aware of it when I was a couple of decades older. I think this because the way the angle of her upper arms around the “shawl” look and triangulating the angle. But it doesn’t really matter to me and I really hope I’m wrong, 😂

Can’t believe you didn’t talk about the veil, which is also an heirloom from Margareta of Connaught. This was also made for her wedding and also worn by all of her female descendants on their wedding day. Unlike the tiara, this was actually also worn by Mary on her wedding day, because it was seen as appropriate for the future Queen of Denmark to wear it.

What is key here is the fact that it’s a Greek Orthodox Church so it is as if causal, modest, and non-flashy was the key theme. Not showing the female form in hugging or fitting clothing was in respect to the Holy Church. You see the change during the less conservatively attired reception.

FYI Celia is famous for her fairytale dresses. Also, although the monarchy in Greece was desolved, the royal family has not cut any ties and honour Greece and its people and traditions in every way possible. So e of the family members including Queen Anne Marie live permanently in Greece. Lastly, since the wedding is officiated in the Greek Orthodox church, women need to cover their chests and shoulders out of respect.

Love simple royal weddinggowns like the timeless one of Queen Máxima. Love that she used the veil of her great great grandmother and that she had lilies of the valley in her bouquet, her mother had only lilies of the valley in 1964. The veil was used by her grandmother, her aunts, her cousins but also by princess Mary, now Queen Mary. Did not like to see so many women in black. Never wear black to a wedding. Its not a funeral.

Wow! A bit astonished at the rather mean comments concerning Brittany's pronunciation of some words and possible errors in history. I have watched 3 different reports on this wedding this morning and the name of the tiara, Khedive, was pronounced three different ways. It didnt matter because I knew what was meant. Most people don't know the correct pronuncuation anyway. Nor do they know if there is an error in history. Thats because we are here to see the fashion and tiaras and jewelry. I am embarrassed for Brittney when people such as you are so mean and rude in public. I am sure people who do what she does are used to insults and let them roll off. To me, it just kind of puts a damper on the fun of watching and listening to the report. Be kind everyone. Its not a history or language class. Sit back and enjoy the report. Hope you have a great day!

As far as I know, Hereditary Prince Gustav Albrecht of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg will inherit the Berleburg title from his father, Prince Gustav. Both are just not allowed to be in the line of succession to the Danish throne, mainly because they constantly live outside of Denmark and didn't visit any school there. Same applies to Prince Gustav's sisters, Princess Nathalie and Princess Alexandra. It has nothing to do with being born via surrogacy. The SWB couple (Prince Gustav and Princess Carina) would have made sure that their children can inherit the German titles and estates. Also, the man standing next to Princess Nina is her father, Swiss businessman Thomas Flohr.

The draped part around her shoulders wasn’t bad, it maybe could have used some embellishment. Overall It’s better than a lot of the other royal wedding dresses we’ve seen over the years. The “shawl” is made of silk tulle and is not a shawl but is part of the dress itself. I agree with you though that it is not a flattering style on her and the skirt is so heavily embellished that it appears busy and messy. The Khedive of Egypt tiara is lovely however.

And the “tiaras” only by night and between Royals , never a Queen or a Princess push a tiara if they are a Republic President , in this weeding there are one Queen , Sofía of Spain , Queen Mother and sister of father of Theodora

The shawl was to appease the church, the orthodox churches are far more strict about the dress codes than the Catholic and Protestant churches. I like the dress personally.

They waited because they wanted to have a big wedding with all their relatives and friends. For Princess Beatrice a big royal wedding was out of the question because of the disgrace of her father who is now a pariah in royal circles. The Queen’s gift of one of her own gowns was a grandmother’s gift to her cherished grand daughter to lift her up and make her wedding extra special. It was wonderful because the whole world loved it and wrote profusely about how special it was. No more Andrew! Hence the unique wedding photo. The late Queen was an old hand at public relations!
Here is a little European royal fashion explanation: the bride wore a detachable modesty shawl for the very conservative Greek Orthodox ceremony. She removed it afterwards. Her bedazzled gown is in the Greek bridal tradition. The bridesmaids wore chitons, garments inspired by Greek antiquity. Princess Marie - Chantal’s church gown is also inspired by Greek antiquity. It was an afternoon wedding so the older women wore high necked tea dresses and most of the gentleman morning coat which is custom before 6 pm. For the evening festivities the guests changed into evening attire. Black tie for the men. Note that some of the young women wore their evening gowns to church and carried a shawl for modesty. In church shoulders must be covered. The scented wedding handkerchief in the bride’s bodice is also an ancient tradition. Later it would be gifted to a woman close to the bride, kind of like tossing the bouquet for good luck. The wedding party were all people related to the bride and groom. That’s why there was no other royalty.

Initially, it was thought that Margaret’s younger sister, Patricia would be a good match for Gustav Adolf, but once he and Margaret met, it was love at first sight.
Also, the Irish lace veil was Margaret of Connaught’s and was worn by her daughter, Queen Ingrid of Denmark, followed by her three daughters, Queen Anne-Marie, Queen Margrethe and Princess Benedikte.
Queen Mary of Denmark was the last to wear the veil in 2004. The Khedive of Egypt tiara has been the wedding tiara of all of Queen Ingrid’s female line descendants.

  • @EwonneStrand

But Prinsess Ingrid of Sweden/Queen of Denmark inherited from her mother "Princess" Margaret of UK/Crown Princess of Sweden as Margaretha's only daughter and the tiara landed in Denmark. Ingrid had more juvel's with her but also three daughters. It have been unfair I believe if Queen Margrethe have get them all. Maybe the "girls" was asked from Ingrid to choose from the collection (or the have a lottery 😄).
But with the name Margrethe it would be natural that she should have it. At the same time I suppose a lot of Ingrid's tiaras came from her mother (on the other hands Ingrid's father had no sister so some maybe came from her grand mother Queen Victoria of Sweden - hum).
Prinsess Margaretha of Sweden also wear it at her wedding. Did she borrow if of Ingrid?
All above you have talked about, I just have it clarify'd (for my self 😊).
Please can you do videos about princess that changed country and what tiaras they have bring with them. Not follow just a tiara do follow a princess tiaras, from where they came from and how they later spreads.

2:00 No, not really Brittany. From what I read in books about the family, Princess Patricia of Connaught who was Margaret’s little sister had been considered as suitable match for Gustaf Adolf but he fell madly in love with Margaret first upon meeting them both in Egypt..and the rest is history ❤

If the wedding took place in a Greek Orthodox Church, they have rules about attire inside the church. Although I’m not a fan of the effect of the fabric around her shoulders, I suspect she was following rules about having her shoulders covered in the church.

  • @alauraparrish2105

I understand why the shoulder wrap,,, Greek Orthodox is modest, if you want to do this type of channel.. then you need to dig deeper, an learn to pronounce words from other countries.... Or at least try... Her dress was lovely, an what's wrong with a dress that's not going to break the bank....

Goes to show we’re all different, I thought the bridal dress was meh, and I thought most of the guest’s dresses were meh. Honestly the only pretty dress in the bunch was the taller woman on the right in the bride’s maid dress, it looked pretty on her. There was way too much fabric up top on the shorter woman also wearing the dress, so hers was a no.
I didn’t think either of Marie Chantal’s dresses was pretty, but hard to see any details at all on the black LV dress. I have never been enthralled with any of the Miller sisters, they’re very much like the American heiresses who married the titled aristos in England during the gilded age - they’d be nothing if not born into a wealthy family. (Yes, I realize one can say that about most members of most royal families too.)
