  • This is everything that I will bring with me as we spend five days riding the Ohio to Erie Trail and camping at State Parks & private campgrounds. We will be starting in Cuyahoga Falls, picking up friends Downtown Akron and having a friend join us in Columbus before finishing in Cincinnati.
    We have a slight side trip planned that is adding one more day than we did last year.
    I filmed this with my Canon 5DIV
    There will be a few videos of the trip when i return.

    *Looked at a lot of options for getting my **Latest.Bike** . Great find in SAVA. Super light, nice components, really good value as it comes with many options only found in much higher priced bikes.*

    id swap some of the extra clothes for a mini U lock. Cable locks are how bikes get stolen, and you could rip that one apart with your bare hands. I see it happen every day in my area with tourist bikes even when people are just making quick stops, and a local campground has been targeted repeatedly by bike thieves to the point staff warn visitors.

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah - everyone can make those choices for themselves. These days we tend to lock all of our bikes to each other with all of our locks if they will be out of sight for a bit - we rarely leave them out of sight though.
      We usually just take turns for quick trips in gas stations.
      When we were in New York City we brought u-locks. I’m not gonna carry one on regular tour though.

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater  3 года назад

      All the Schwinn catalogs are online. If you remember the original color and roughly the year with a little bit of research/Googling you should be able to figure it out. I did the same thing to nail down the year of this old Trek and other vintage bikes I own.

    Hey man really interessting stuff! Thinking about upgrading my steelbike too. What rims are you using and have you upgraded your breaks too?

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater  3 года назад +1

      The rims don’t have a name on them but the whole wheel set are Trek’s from my 2007 Trek 1500. I am using the original brake calipers - I was lucky they were able to reach the 700c wheels since the bike is originally 27inch. The brakes do ok but I do have to be careful when I really get going on a hill. This video details the upgrades

    Kindred spirit! I take so much flak for wearing long sleeves. It’s not really hotter, you never get sunburn, and if it’s outrageously hot and you can drench the whole shirt somewhere, you are way cooler than anyone.

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater  3 года назад

      I worked on a farm for nearly 10 years - we almost always wore long sleeves. Those classic button downs(I used to find them at the thrift store) are way cooler(in both ways) than cotton tees.

    • @TimFitzwater

      These ones are attached to the rear rack bag - they simply fold down. Topeka is the brand - they make a sliding rack system.

    Cool, but try to avoid buying so much "sports nutrition" food. It's too much plastic that gets wasted. It's not necessary.

    • @TimFitzwater
      @TimFitzwater  3 года назад

      I tend to carry some on long trips for emergencies - but I prefer the more natural stuff like Ted King's Untapped products. Plastics are something I try to avoid in my everyday life as much as possible - but that has been extremely hard during the pandemic. On tours last year there were no water fountains turned on. We would buy gallons of water at the gas stations and fill up everyone's bottles to not have to buy a bunch of little ones but still very wasteful. Everything in this society is a compromise - we usually leave from our doors on our bikes - which is a way smaller carbon footprint than driving or flying - so a few pieces of plastic are far less impactful. Cheers!
