- Today I bring you guys the unboxing and first impressions on Arlo's latest addition to their security cameras, the Arlo Essential Spotlight!
This set of cameras aim to be a more budget-friendly option for people that want to add a new layer of security to their homes.
For the majority of the video, I compare the camera to other cameras in the Arlo line up to get a better idea of how it stands against them.

Please please please anybody thinking about purchasing this camera do not do it. During the trial. Everything worked great but after you subscribe everything went downhill. Constantly buffers. Does not find a signal to connect to wi-fi. Night vision is no longer black and white it's just black. Buyer beware do not buy this product it is a scam camera.
Great review! It's on sale at Amazon for 99.99 so probably gonna get it.
I got mine at wal matt for abput 50 dollars. I needhelp setti g it up.😊
I just bought this yesterday n already having issues, cameras get kicked offline n when you restart them you have to be home so my Security is Comprimised untill i get home which sucks badly , my wifi router is close to them n which they have terrible bandwith connection foe the price of 299.00 with 43.00 protection plan is terrible taking them back to Best Buy as soon as possible , searching for reliable Outside Security Cameras !!
thanks man, just bought the essential three pack and wanted some more insight.
No doubt man! Glad I was able help 🙏🏽
Guys, beware of this product. you will find lot of young tech providing catchy picture about the product, however fact is far from it.
firstly you are going to have to uninstall it when charging is low, which by the way has no indication of it. Weird is not it.
secondly8 of 10 times you are going to be frustrated, for you phone will not find the device the camera and you keep trying.Support forget about it, nobody picks up phone.
I have ordered 2 arlo essentials and had no luck to set it,Finally I was told to return it where you bought from.
There are good camera available with just half the price, go get them but not Arlo.
Buyer Beware: These are great unless you don't want to have to pay $15 a month basically to use the product. Without the monthly subscription the only thing that these will do is show you a live feed with about 5 second delay. So if someone is stealing your package, breaking into your house or tagging your sidewalk, you can see it happen after it's already occurred. If you are monitoring live. There is no way to get a motion sensor recording onto your device of computer without buying the subscription service. So shell out $350 for a system that costs $15 a month to actually use. LAME.
I just got two Arlo Essentials and they will arrive in a few days. I want to keep them plugged in non-stop because I am putting then by my rental property. I got some Waterproof charging cable on Amazon. Any advice with keeping it charging? I'll have a new hole in the window to allow for the wire to go through.
I got the essential spotlight camera. It says to use 2.4 but my wifi is 2.5. Did I just buy the wrong security camera system or do I need to make changes to my wifi service?
Most WiFi networks now have both a 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, but no 2.5 (as far as I'm aware). When setting up the cameras, the device you're connecting them with has to be on the network with 2.4 GHz. The cameras will connect automatically after the setup process.
Hope that helps!
How long does the battery last
Depends heavily on how much motion the camera detects. In my personal experience and after a couple months of use, it is somewhere about 1 week to a week-and-a-half.
Hope that helps!
@@PMBShoes there’s no way I’m doing that lol I’ll be getting the blink camera most likely
That's fair, it is very tedious and time consuming to have to replace the battery that often.
Question bro hey does that week and a half of use include day and night for them to recharge again or how often are u using them like you live them on day and night I know it depends on how much activity they get but are we talking about day and night activity is that why they only last that short amount of time I hope I explained myself....
Hey, yes I had the cameras on day and night and that contributed to draining the battery a lot quicker.
Hope that helps!
I’m sold! Thanks bro
Those photobombing bees lololol
Piece of junk. I bought one from Amazon. Initial setup appeared to be easy. Trying to frame the coverage is a nightmare. The lag is so bad, you can't set it up right. The worse part is losing connections.
is this a giveaway
Great review man
Quick question is the camera adjustable left to right or only up and down
You can adjust it left to right!
@@PMBShoes thanks alot im going to get one today..
Quick question because i cant find this info anywhere, the spotlight can only be turned on manually? Not upon motion is thay correct?
The spotlight activates manually and when motion is detected. However, it only comes on automatically with motion at night.
Good review bro! I am going to buy one.
Appreciate the comment! And that’s awesome, I’m sure you’ll be happy with it 🙏🏽
Don't waste your money
Really disappointed with this camera I bought it the spotlight camera installed and work for no even 3 months suddenly stop working, took it down recharge it with the usb cable to the power and nothing then I’ve been fighting with Arlo reps to get some warranty on this piece of crap and nobody could help me what a waste of time and money I would not recommend this scam to anybody.
So how did you go about the WiFi situation. Do I just have to change my internet company or router?
The safer bet is going with a company that allows for you to get your own modem.
You can try getting a new router and see if that helps before going through that hassle. However, you can get the best router possible but it’s only going to do as good as the modem allows it to.
Hope that helps!
Bad investment stoped recording motions
