  • When I studied with the jazz coordination master, Jim Chapin, I learned so many techniques, in particular the Moeller Technique. Jim studied directly from Stanford Moeller.
If you're interested in studying this technique, you can join me for a 16 week course starting every January, May and September. Check www.thedrumset... for details.

Traditional grip is so outdated. It only make sense if you have a marching drum hanging beside your leg. Otherwise it looks completely retarded and it is pretty unhealthy, you grow a crooked posture. and the wristjoint is bad...

What are you on about? "It looks completely retarded" no it does not, it looks really elegant. "You grow a crooked posture" - no, there are plenty of drummers playing traditional who have perfect posture. Example : Todd Sucherman. Also, a lot of people play both : Dennis Chambers for example uses traditional grip in more melodic and loose parts, specifically with the snare wires off, and his hand almost on top of the stick at times. Steward Copeland have impeccable technique and posture and is probably the hardest traditional grip hitter in the business. Greyson Nekrutman who just landed the Suicidal Tendencies gig plays traditional. The list goes on... yes : there is a higher risk of injuries from imperfect technique. Yes, many older drummers switched to match grip more. Jack Dejohnette switched to match grip after an injury (not drum related as far as I remember).
But to say that it "looks completely retarded" is incredibly wrong and disrespectful to so many great drummers. Are you saying all the people I just cited are retarded?
You can't be serious about that. Also you shouldn't imply that the instructor is retarded and crooked. You sound like a real asshole tbh
