You could order an unlocked pcm from diablo paired to your tuner and your car's VIN# or send them your stock one to unlock and pair it to your tuner, but then your car wont work if you send them your stock one.

Yes, in 2015 Dodge decided to lock their car's computers (pcm) to make people go directly through mopar for fear of voiding their warranty. Diablo tuners are advertised to add up to 35 horsepower and act as a diagnostic machine for your car. They also sell unlocked pcm to go specific with your diablo tuner so you could keep your factory one stock and swap it back if ever taking your car to a dealership
Ryan not sure if you’ve made the jump to the 180 degree thermostat but if you have or will with this tune you can control your fan controls with it and maximize it ... I have some great fan control speeds and temp settings that I’m currently using on my tune if you are interested. Enjoy it, I think it was worth the money!
Rydin N Style The advantage is that the car runs at a lower temperature. Instead of running at around 204/205, it now runs at around 185. The real advantage would be seen on the track, not so much on the street. There is a lot of debate on whether or not its worth changing, as it can be known to reduce mpg on the vehicle compared to the stock thermostat. I figured that I would give it a try, I'm not bothered about the mpg, so hopefully the engine will run better at the lower temps, I can always change back if its no good. Too sum it the engine stays cooler and better performance plus with your tune you can control your fans and get even better performance... hope this helps,
Hey Ryan I know the video is 4 years old . But did you ever have to take it back to the dealer . And if so did they say anything about the unlocked pcm . Or did you replace it with the OEM one . For when you have to go back to them . Not sure if I should just have them unlock mine or wait for it to be back in stock We’re in 2021 and pcm are backed order for 6 weeks or more . Thank you Sr
I swapped the original pcm prior to taking it to the dealership because they could ruin (possibly relock) the unlocked pcm if they wanted to by "accident".
Essentially, they are the same. Your stock pcm is locked by the manufacturer, not allowing any tunes, but you can send it in to be unlocked and have a tuner programmed specific to your pcm/car's vin#, or you could keep your pcm stock and purchase a separate (modified) pcm from diablo.
If you order the tuner from diablo, they offer a separate unlocked pcm to go with the tuner, but it's around $800-$900 more. Otherwise, you'd need to send them yours, but your car wont work until you get it back

I have a 2016 RT challenger and am trying to purchase a pcm that is long so i can tune for performance and get a burble tune. Does Diablo allow you to burble tune your car or would it just be better to take it to a tuning place?
I thought about doing this with my Scat, still up in the air about it. I have used them on previous vehicles before you had to purchase the PCM. You should have done a base stock dyno and then a dyno with the Diablo to see the difference.

Hey Ryan,my i3 tuner won't connect to my Wifi. It's not as easy as people make it seem. My wifi isnt even showing up on the screen of my tuner to put in the password and get the updates before I start tuning. My unlocked PCM arrives tomorrow so I have to hurry up and get this thing figured out because I have 14 days to send in my old one. I don't want to go the route of doing it on a computer because I hate using computers. What do you think the problem may be? I may just have to call tech support at DiabloSport in order for them to explain why I cannot get updates using the Wi-Fi method. Maybe the tuner they sent me is defective?

I think I should be fine doing it myself. The shops wants $1500 bucks for doing the same thing I can do myself for $500. Which Diablo tuner do you have? They have like a platinum and few other options.
Just FYI: your post contradicts itself too much. You’re asking basic questions about the tuner then claiming you’re qualified to custom tune your pcm? No way no how, you need a custom tune and it’s well worth the $$$, little $$$ for drastic changes in drivability. Do some real investigative work or upper just FOS
Literally love all your damn videos so detailed. Great explanation on everything can’t stress enough best channel in my opinion Also one time I unplugged my battery and my 17’ charger rt screen and everything turned blue and said it was a Chrysler 300c. Did this happen to you too ? Lol

This is where dodge gets most people with the scare tactic of a voided warranty, this way you only upgrade through their scat pack stage 1 with their unlocked pcm. Diablo is better only because it has the options for custom tunes for any future mods.

If you disconnect the pcm ever it will store a code that the mileage recorded and the current mileage does not match. Code cannot be cleared warranty WILL be voided
@@MrBrianm18 you don't need a unlocked PCM to use the tazer to get the performance pages. if your charger 2015+ you need to install it in the back where the battery is. Tazer gives you a security bypass cable that you use when plugging everything in over by the battery. if your charger pre 2015 model then yea might be different for you i asked tazer would this work with my 2018 charger RT and told them i have the basic charger with no packages added(like nav screen ect) and they told me it will work fine and i will have access to those pages as long as i use the bypass cable.
@@mafiahalo93 when i bought mine i tried trouble shooting and contacted him as well and i was told for my 2016 charger r/t me and others were having problems due to radio issues. I still do not have performance pages till this day on my uconnect but i will have to try the bypass cable and see. But 2017 and up they locked the obd2 port under the steering wheel where your model is required to use a bypass cable in order to work. But again i may try in the future
@@MrBrianm18 i would give the cable a try since it only 55$ and if it doesnt work you could just sell the cable to someone else getting ready to do the same mod you tried.
I tuned mine to a 91 Oct. & after tuning it didn't let me tune it again. Tried tuning a month after the first tune since there's updates to the tunes & it just won't let me tune it again with the new updates. Idk what's wrong! Smh
Rydin N Style I do the update via wifi & just park inside the garage so the diablo device is connected to the internet the whole time. I follow the steps. Even after choosing the 91oct & pressing to install it takes me to this other page with all types of tweaks & won't let me out of that page the continue button becomes dark & won't let me press/touch it. I do the easy tune not the advance so idk what's going on.
the car didn't have any problems once you switched the pcm? like starting problems. and if i never used the tazer for my challenger i don't need to worry about changing everything back to stock?
It's a good tuner to have and doubles as a diagnostic machine to clear error codes. I'm not sure how the tuning is with a supercharger, but it does allow for custom tunes

So i have a 2012 Rt police package with the 5.7, i want to deactivate the MDS system on it. So i need to replace my pcm to do this? Or can i just plug in the tuner and tune it myself??
Hey rydin n style here is the situation I bought the pcm from Diablo and the i2intune and I went on and modded the 5.7 shaker with long tubes no cats hellcat induction just economy mods I went to Dyno tune and my tuner did a base line without the Diablo 93 octane tune right and I pulled in a 398 hp to the wheel and 404 tq then he did a pull on the 93 octane and the numbers were slightly identical if anything 1 hp jump only difference was the tuned made it run more aggressive and adding a knock in the top end then he ran the Diablo tune no gains with Diablo tune over all my tuner adjusted the 93 octane tune and got rid of the knock Diablo promises on there advertisement a 15hp jump with one click of a button Wich is Dyno proven and yet it is not true as u know the pcm and tuner is easily about 900-1000 dollars and my tuner said Diablo is scamming people please reply let me know if u have dynoed it after the Diablo tune and see the gains
Sammy240sx Garcia I am afraid you might be right on this as I did get a dyno done and was rather disappointed in the numbers. I never got it dynoed before installing the unlocked pcm and tuner so I can't really compare the numbers, but I did think they would've been a lot higher.
Rydin N Style yeah I'm on the same boat and my tuner did say the power I'm getting is coming from my mods n not the tuner at all over all it was a 1250 dollar setup that gave me zero gains so I wanted to make a video on this I contacted Diablo they said to do a couple w.o.t pulls for over 30 seconds but we're am I going to be able to do that if it's not at the track or at a Dyno my tuner did tell me that they will try n do everything to prevent a refund and Diablo wasn't any help at all they want me to go Dyno and send them the data logging but that will cost me 250 a hr everyone that is looking to buy a Diablo unit can spend 1200 dollars on real performance parts

Yes, all cars up to 2014 is plug and play in the obd2 sensor, 2015+ require an unlocked pcm

John Doe the platinum allows for custom tunes, so if you have a shop that could tune it for you, it should allow for it as a custom tune.

Rydin N Style no need for pedal commander. Your tuner has a throttle boost setting which is the same as the pedal commander

Yes. Up to 2014 doesn't require the pcm to be unlocked. Dodge decided to start locking them in 2015+

So I have a 2016 Dodge Challenger rt with aftermarket performance cams. The car is not smooth at idling and won’t drive smooth. Do you think this is the right tuner for it?
Yes because of the custom tuning option, but I would take it into a sport shop to have it tuned properly with your aftermarket mods.
I think I should be fine doing it myself. The shops wants $1500 bucks for doing the same thing I can do myself for $500. Which Diablo tuner do you have? They have like a platinum and few other options.

No way no how, you need a custom tune and it’s well worth the $$$, little $$$ for drastic changes in drivability.

How many tunes can you use on 1 vehicle after tuning it once.?
You can program one tune at a time, but you can always switch to different tunes or even add customized tunes as well

You could send them your pcm to be reprogrammed or just buy a whole new unlocked pcm from diablo
@@RydinNStyle I know that reprogramming the computer is the way to go, but the car is brand new and I really don't want to mess with the ECM. I just want to wake it up a little bit.
This is where dodge gets most people with the scare tactic of a voided warranty, this way you only upgrade through their scat pack stage 1 with their unlocked pcm. Diablo is better only because it has the options for custom tunes for any future mods.

Dealerships can vary on how far the will pursue and issue, but to be safe, it's better to swap the pcm back to stock before taking the car in.
If you disconnect the pcm ever it will store a code that the mileage recorded and the current mileage does not match. Code cannot be cleared warranty WILL be voided
Were you able to get the performance pages from the tazer after the unlocked pcm install?

@@RydinNStyle i later did more research. Its the radio its self. We have the ra3 uconnect we need the ra4 with navigation to install pages with tazer
@@MrBrianm18 you don't need a unlocked PCM to use the tazer to get the performance pages. if your charger 2015+ you need to install it in the back where the battery is. Tazer gives you a security bypass cable that you use when plugging everything in over by the battery. if your charger pre 2015 model then yea might be different for you
i asked tazer would this work with my 2018 charger RT and told them i have the basic charger with no packages added(like nav screen ect) and they told me it will work fine and i will have access to those pages as long as i use the bypass cable.

r/t me and others were having problems due to radio issues. I still do not have performance pages till this day on my uconnect but i will have to try the bypass cable and see. But 2017 and up they locked the obd2 port under the steering wheel where your model is required to use a bypass cable in order to work. But again i may try in the future
@@MrBrianm18 i would give the cable a try since it only 55$ and if it doesnt work you could just sell the cable to someone else getting ready to do the same mod you tried.
I tuned mine to a 91 Oct. & after tuning it didn't let me tune it again. Tried tuning a month after the first tune since there's updates to the tunes & it just won't let me tune it again with the new updates. Idk what's wrong! Smh

Rydin N Style I do the update via wifi & just park inside the garage so the diablo device is connected to the internet the whole time. I follow the steps. Even after choosing the 91oct & pressing to install it takes me to this other page with all types of tweaks & won't let me out of that page the continue button becomes dark & won't let me press/touch it. I do the easy tune not the advance so idk what's going on.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe there's a factory reboot option to clear any saved data

It's a good tuner to have and doubles as a diagnostic machine to clear error codes. I'm not sure how the tuning is with a supercharger, but it does allow for custom tunes

So i have a 2012 Rt police package with the 5.7, i want to deactivate the MDS system on it. So i need to replace my pcm to do this? Or can i just plug in the tuner and tune it myself??
The tuner could do it, only 2015+ require a pcm swap

Hey rydin n style here is the situation I bought the pcm from Diablo and the i2intune and I went on and modded the 5.7 shaker with long tubes no cats hellcat induction just economy mods I went to Dyno tune and my tuner did a base line without the Diablo 93 octane tune right and I pulled in a 398 hp to the wheel and 404 tq then he did a pull on the 93 octane and the numbers were slightly identical if anything 1 hp jump only difference was the tuned made it run more aggressive and adding a knock in the top end then he ran the Diablo tune no gains with Diablo tune over all my tuner adjusted the 93 octane tune and got rid of the knock Diablo promises on there advertisement a 15hp jump with one click of a button Wich is Dyno proven and yet it is not true as u know the pcm and tuner is easily about 900-1000 dollars and my tuner said Diablo is scamming people please reply let me know if u have dynoed it after the Diablo tune and see the gains
Sammy240sx Garcia I am afraid you might be right on this as I did get a dyno done and was rather disappointed in the numbers. I never got it dynoed before installing the unlocked pcm and tuner so I can't really compare the numbers, but I did think they would've been a lot higher.
Rydin N Style yeah I'm on the same boat and my tuner did say the power I'm getting is coming from my mods n not the tuner at all over all it was a 1250 dollar setup that gave me zero gains so I wanted to make a video on this I contacted Diablo they said to do a couple w.o.t pulls for over 30 seconds but we're am I going to be able to do that if it's not at the track or at a Dyno my tuner did tell me that they will try n do everything to prevent a refund and Diablo wasn't any help at all they want me to go Dyno and send them the data logging but that will cost me 250 a hr everyone that is looking to buy a Diablo unit can spend 1200 dollars on real performance parts

Yes, my 2013 was true plug and play with the Diablo tuner...unlocking the pcm is where it gets tricky and expensive.
