At the time of DOOM 2016's release, our hobby group played the OST so much, that my friend who was hosting banned it from his house. We still sneak in a song every once in a while just to work him up from time to time. He did finally play the game 2 years ago and understood finally why we loved the music so much
In terms of music, When I used to go to Games Workshop in 2009 to play and paint, the manager had a metal playlist of his own playing through the speakers. Most of the bands I'd never heard about and most of the play list only had one song from many bands. Except Disturbed. He had every song from the Indestructible album playing every day, and every time I listen to a song from that album I get reminded of the simpler times, before University work started to take a toll and the stresses of adult life really hit.
It's not really my cup of tea per se, but the chuggy bouncy guitars of nu-metal is the soundtrack of the hobby in my mind. If only because it was all that GW shops seemed to play back in the day where you could actually take your cases in and play a game on a weekend and the guys were putting their own CDs on. I do distinctly remember one of the staff members used to play a lot of rock renditions of videogame music in our local too, so you'd get stuff like The Black Mages version of Final Fantasy tunes, F Zero's mute city as a guitar piece and the like.
I have these boar boyz in my attic, I'm going to photograph before I strip them. once I get more incomings than outgoings in my financial situation I'm going to repaint them
Music for game nights Haven't had a warhammer night yet, but on boardgame nights or D&D nights we were rocking the classics! Some Metallica and Ozzy, sure. But mostly classic rock. Kiss, Aerosmith, whitesnake, van halen, Toto. Especially "Africa" by Toto. Was on every time without fail.
Sounds great! This is the sort of thing we gravitate towards too. Classic rock/hard rock/some metal but you can still think and socialise without shouting over it. A lot of our group like metal, but there's a time and a place for stuff like Slayer or even death metal, but for me that time is not when you're trying to concentrate on a game
*ssdi social security/disability income check. Daryl was definitely a dick but what happened to him I'm not necessarily calling karma as that might be pretty extreme but like you said north, just an old price with no self awareness

“does your mother know” by ABBA always sticks with me. During a D&D game when my rogue was trying to steal the evil wizards staff.
