Yes, right? People get up early to go to work, so get up early to grab some good deals! Excellent way to think about that (talking to myself here in cold snowy Wisconsin).
Hi, Love your show! When I buy a good amount of bacon I will put the slices in large baking pans that have been sprayed first with Pam and cook them in the oven at 375 degrees till done. For some reason the bacon will not shrink or splatter as much when it's cooking in the oven rather than pan frying. Cooked bacon takes up way less space in the freezer too. No more standing at the stove for morning bacon to cook either. Cooked bacon for days! Yum!
I love how you pointed out the meat savings for 20 minutes of work!!Many people don’t think like that so this is great!!?? Thank you for toughing out the sleepies!! 😊❤
I really enjoy these videos. I make almost all of our meals in our toaster oven and electric fry pan cause I hate cleaning my stove. Here are some easy ideas..... 1) Open faces tuna melts (can use shredded chicken if you don't like tuna). 2) sheet pan fajitas (meat, peppers, onions, Mexican seasoning); tortillas can be warmed in the microwave or just tossed in the oven for a few minutes; 3) we love baked seasoned chicken legs or wings in our toaster oven/air fryer. You can get quite a few on a small pan and they brown up fairly quickly. You can add a nice salad and bread. 4) stuffed peppers are really quick and easy to make in the toaster oven/air fryer. 5) our best 5 minute meal is mini pizzas on sliced English muffins. We toast the muffins a bit before adding the toppings cause we like them crunchy. 6) homemade baked meatball sandwiches topped with peppers and cheese. Make the meatballs on the smaller size to bake them up a little faster. Just a few ideas .....
we like to get great deals on ground beef, and make Seasoned ground meat packages for the freezer, taco flavor, and plain, can make baggies of cooked ground beef for taco's and for noodles and beef with vegetables beyond spaghetti . season as you like.
The only reason I take the hamburger out of the original plastic container is I like to flatten it out so I can stack them in my freezer. I use the ziploc bags and put waxed paper between them so they won't stick together. But when I'm tired and have had a long shopping day, I do throw them in the freezer in the original container and nothing ever happened.
I am a senior citizen and on social security only. Always shop for bargains. I only have WM and a Town & Country. The Town & Country is my go to store. Have good meats a mark down cooler and a mark down for everything else. Save ever time I shop and tell you how much you save on receipt. Saves almost 5 dollars yesterday and makes me happy. Love your videos and keep up the good work.
We just installed a wood stove insert (our furnace is about to go, so in case we lose heat) FYI you may know, but I just learned this, make sure you contact your insurance about the standing stove if you ever use it, those tend to not be covered under a house fire without additional cost! Hopefully that’s never a worry, but wanted to share.
When I redid my kitchen several years ago the instant pot did not exist. This is a great cooking tool if you don’t have one already. I set up a makeshift kitchen in my dining room during the reconstruction. (We had 6 children at the time -infant thru 12yr old) I set up a crock pot, skillet, & a single burner & microwave/convection oven & we were in business! It wasn’t easy but we did it with 6 children😅
I use a bread maker to mix and knead the dough. I take the dough out right after the last knead and put it into a bread pan in the oven as low as I can get it. I leave the door ajar and let it rise 1/2 hour. Then I turn the oven to 350 and very gently close the door. Bake for 30 minutes and then cool on a rack (dump it out of the pan first). Yummmm!!!
Your trip through the 90% off Christmas aisle reminds me of the year we got enough pumpkin bread mixes after a Thanksgiving "to last a year" even though they lasted a couple of years in the end. Another year we got enough melting chocolate bark stuff at more than 90% off to last quite a long time.
The meal that tends to be our fastest meal to cook & is delicious..... brown pork mince with diced onions, add garlic & frozen diced mixed veggies (or any canned veggies you like). Meanwhile we soak the vermicelli rice noodles in boiling water for 3 mins & drain. Season & serve with soy sauce (or any other sauce you like) over vermicelli noodles. Voila! It's cooked & on the table in the time it takes to cook the meat & veg & is very tasty. 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨
I like to put roasts in the crockpot with onions, carrots and potatoes. We eat it like that then use it again for sandwiches and fry the veggies and some meat for hash, sometimes putting a fried egg on it.
Love tightwad Tuesdays!!! You could make chip beef on toast in the old fashioned plug-in skillet, you can make hot Turkey or hot beef over bread, breakfast for dinner, you could make little personal pizzas in the toaster oven, you can make any of the recipes with biscuit dough in the toaster oven. My sister hasn’t had a working oven in about five years and she completely cooks with her crockpot her Nesco her hot plate and her toaster oven. She’s hoping to get a working gas stove soon. Any of the chilies will work in the crockpot along with just heating up pulled chicken and pulled pork. Could always get some lettuce and tomato and just make BLTs. So glad to see that the remodel is going well.
Toasted English muffins spread with tomato soup straight from the can, then topped with browned sausage & grated cheese. Will your toaster oven top grill to melt the cheese? We called these Pronto Pizzas. You could add Italian seasonings & sliced olives if desired. 😊
We bought our last eggs in a 60 count box at $9.99; and I grumbled because they weren't $7.49 to $7.99 but I had a gut feeling. Starting the next day eggs went up in price all over town and by 7 days later were running $19.99 at the cheaper places. Needless to say we stretched our purchase and I've been rubber necking as we pass egg cases to realize the prices have been coming down from thier all time highs; we never got to $48.48 like I saw in one utube picture but $26.99 is too steep for me who grew up with eggs being about the cheapest protien source you could find. Not sure what they're running lately.
Love tightwad Tuesday!!!!!!! Seems like most of the tips I am already doing but I think it is a combination of a lot of small things together. Car will be paid off in about 4 months and a loan in about a year. I rent so that is my biggest expense. Moving is a possibility. had to put a dog down last week and she will not be replaced.
@@joycenagy3140 yeah, sad about the dog. The thing is, she was old and I could have spent a fortune to keep her going for another couple of years. And I have another one that is 13 years old, relatively healthy, and do not plan on spending a fortune on her either. I love my fur babies, but I am about to retire. I have heard Tawra talk about the people who have many pets and can't financially break even.... that is true........one must count the cost of personal freedom and it is difficult to make these decisions. Especially when you already HAVE them. Rent seems to be high everywhere, but I suppose that everyone thinks that! I am hoping to find senior housing when I retire.........But for now, I am pretty frugal. a couple of years ago I was really stressing out about it, but finally decided to not buy anything unless it was a need; not a want. Give to others......Next thing I know, people are blessing me with all sorts of things......
Either last week or the week before, I found ground beef or 50% off at Aldi's! It was $1.69 a pound, so I bought 20 pounds of course! The same day, the turkeys was $.49 a pound, so I grabbed two more turkeys and added to the four that were already in my freezer from Thanksgiving and Christmas!
Hello from Deadwood! Love seeing how much you saved! I went thrift store shopping in Spearfish a few days ago and really scored!! These were items that I needed so getting it at such reduced price is a blessing to me! 😊
When I buy large amt ground beef, I cook up half to freeze for soups, taco's & sloppy Joe's. The other half I make into meatloaf(s) and freeze for crock pot cooking. Put all in freezer bags, we don't eat very fast.
We are most often 2 at the table and make repackaging decisions based upon what sizes are already in the freezer; if we're portioning, the larger packages are generally easier. We often portion into regular portioning bags purchased at a local restaurant supply store as opposed to freezer bags. More often than not, our freezer meat is eaten within 6 months which means 12 months is about the longest time it sits in our freezer; self defrosting or not, we generally empty and clean every 12 months or so anyway so items don't get lost for upto years.
If you happen to get stainless appliances, a suggestion is to get the kind that does not leave fingerprints. I believe Frigidaire has that option, possibly others.
I've made a couple of great casseroles in the microwave when I had a very limited kitchen situation! It's turkey stuffing casserole and it's a family favorite! 2 boxes of stove top stuffing, frozen peas cream of mushroom soup milk dried onion and a turkey breat! I buy a half turkey breast and Sautee then cut up into smallish pieces! Mix with a cup or more according to taste of frozen peas half cup of milk teaspoon of dried onion. Cook the stuffing and put a layer onto casserole dish. Layer turkey mixture on top and then add more stuffing as a topping! Cook in the microwave for 10 minutes, and enjoy! I've also made skiers stew! It's in to Colorado cache cookbook, which I highly recommend! God bless your renovation!
I make this meal quite often...boneless skinless chicken breast, stove top stuffing, cream of chicken soup. Layer in crockpot chicken, then stove top, then soup dilted with half a can of water. Cook on low 8 hours orhigh 4 hours. Delicious crockpot meal! Doubles easily!
This video is awesome. I also do not repackage my meat. I just toss it in the deep freeze and pull out as needed. However we are a family of 7 so I do use it all fairly quickly
Fantastic bargains, Tawra. Love everything you got. Your HFH store has some great stuff. I haven't been to the one here in a long time. Go to the Habitat for Humanity dumpster. They dispose of things that didn’t sell , although they tend to slice up upholstered items . Strange to do that to things that were donated to them for free and that they were throwing out anyway.
We have flitted between Re-Hab stores in this greater area. Each is a little different with bigger differences between those in different regions; for the most part, each county is a region for us. Some areas have recycle, repupose, or reclaimed building type material stores other than the Re-Hab stores too. About some of the reclamation places with older, more antique, generally upto significantly higher prices - the quirky things others dont buy can go to pretty low clearance prices so don't discount shopping there too.
Hello! Found Awesome Deals today!!!Just got back from the stores . Pie crusts 2 for a $1.00, Cereal for $1.68 a box, cottage cheese.99¢ , sour cream.99¢, butter $2.68( real cheap for up here in northern Wisconsin), bacon ends $1.99 for 2 pounds. Regular bacon $1.99 lb. And Clearance in clothes at Walmart found undies for .25¢!!! Great Shopping Day. Love Your videos 💓🙏🤠
I keep my taters in the dark, i have a cardboard box in the garage, i keep them far away from onions so they don't rot. and they will still sprout if they get warm, but they won't blush green. we don't go through fresh potatoes so often.
@@bonniejohnson1518 You're welcome, I learned from our time in Oregon when we worked at gleaning and food share with seniors, one of the organizers had so many great tips on what to do with fresh vegetables and how to can. great times.
I love the crockpot. When my kids all come up for the summer I throw a pork butt in that I put a rub on it the night before ( make a rub of salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, brown sugar and onion powder) add a cup or so of beef broth and cook on low for 8 hours. makes wonderful pulled pork sandwiches. By the way I have been using your muffin recipe in your Dining OnA dime cookbook 1 and added some mixed fruit. Wow, it was better than the McDonalds very berry muffins.
Rice a Roni with cooked chicken or ground beef depending on the flavor. Not really good for you but belly filling. Add microwaved broccoli or veg of your choice for added nutrients.
Here in Michigan I got eight boneless ribs for $5.01 there's only me and my husband so I'll double the menus to in each bag before I put it in the freezer
On Saturday my husband and I found frozen boneless chicken breast for $1.49 per pound. We bought 35 pounds and came home and canned it all up. It was from a local grocery store.
I get a pork roast put in crock pot add one cup of white wine and two Cups of water and some seasoning cook overnight. In morning take out meat shread it reserve some of the liquid . Add your favorite barbecue sauce and some of the liquid back into crock pot and cook for a few hours put it over some hard rolls and have some coleslaw you can do the same with beef but I add red wine instead of white wine
Awesome deals! Congrats on those! Whaaat.... not allowing gas stoves?!? I'll have to look that up & see what's going on! 🥰Blessings from South Australia💕🐨
There are so many great things to say about this video! Honestly don't know where to start! Lets just say I love, love love it! ( especially early trip to store)
Wow! You found some fabulous bargains! We have a habitat for humanity in the town next to us, but I've never been to it because it was in a bad crime area. I just looked & they've moved. Hopefully they'll have great buys here too. . I buy packages of ground beef divide it into smaller packages & freeze in freezer bags. If a roast is the correct size, I've always left it in the store packaging like you showed doing, but if it's too big, I cut it & freeze in smaller packages--normally food saver bags. We've eating steaks & roasts from 1-2 years ago that look like I just put them up thanks to the food saver bags. ... Each time I pull out food I bought on sale, I'm thankful for the money we saved, along with having plenty to eat.
You just reminded me have to leave at 7 am for more heart testing tomorrow and set alarms. Waiting to see the finished project in your kitchen. I've had to do that at a Home Depot fixing up a foreclosure. Back n forth. Forgot this, need this to do that, another project I find needed done. Wish I still had the energy to do a house almost all by myself. Heavy work and electric had to hire. Wonder if there's a Restore around somewhere by me. Want a new sink, windows, shower doors and interior doors not painted. Painted doors are a hassle getting chipped and stained never need redoing. Nice meat haul. Will last a long time. I vacuum seal if the big packs are real big or cheaper per pound. I oven cook bacon. Burned my corneas before and that hurts.😁 Cook in air fryer or toaster oven. Crock pot. I've gone a couple weeks not touching the oven.when moving and it was gone m. Grilled while it was here too.

What great deals from Habitat for Humanity Restore!
Go to the Habitat for Humanity dumpster. They dispose of things that didn’t sell , although they tend to slice up upholstered items . Strange to do that to things that were donated to them for free and that they were throwing out anyway.
Funny, but your purse is a perfect match for the shopping cart.
Just asking....are you a hoarder? That's a lot of stuff now. You make me want to declutter. Love your home. Love your attitude. Amazing!
LOL I have a 5,000 sq. ft house that I just moved into 18 months ago and am still decorating.
Toast bread with ham, sliced tomatoes , mustard and cheese in oven and a salad aside.
Wow those ReStore prices are cheap. Wish ours had prices like that.
A year back I used a toaster oven and made egg bake

I keep my taters in the dark, i have a cardboard box in the garage, i keep them far away from onions so they don't rot. and they will still sprout if they get warm, but they won't blush green. we don't go through fresh potatoes so often.
Didn't know that, thank you. I had my potatoes next to onions and wondered why they spoiled.
I got some of those Christmas tin cards too. I use them for "tags" on Christmas presents to neighbors or coworkers.
I wish we had a habitat for humanity where I live.
On Saturday my husband and I found frozen boneless chicken breast for $1.49 per pound. We bought 35 pounds and came home and canned it all up. It was from a local grocery store.

What does Mike take for lunch to go with the shredded chicken?
mac muffins home made ,bacon egg cheese muffin split in half and toasted tomatoe sauce mayo mustard.
Good job on the meat!
I hate tossing the egg cartons too, but everyone I know has enough egg cartons, and I don't have room to keep them...
I give my egg cartons to a farmer at my local farmers market.
Burned my corneas before and that hurts.😁
Cook in air fryer or toaster oven. Crock pot. I've gone a couple weeks not touching the oven.when moving and it was gone m. Grilled while it was here too.
