This piece amazes me in its complexity. It is improvisational yet structured and builds to an amazing cathartic finish. I’m so glad we have this moment in time captured to re-experience. Joe was truly a brilliant one of a kind composer and musician. And to see Wayne - one of the worlds greatest horn players - casually tapping the cowbell is a trip.
In my opinion, Weather Report was always totally in synch, despite the complexity of the compositions and arrangements.....a hallmark of seasoned
musicianship. Impressive! Very impressive!!
As old n broke as I am, i have nothing to complain about. I got to see them live in every configuration they played in from their beginning to their end. Then Weather Update and finally the Zawinul Syndicate up to the last ( sadly ) tour Joe did and each time was church , plain and simple. I'm a lucky guy.
Now you get to see what the best of every instrument sounds like when they play together. Don't get used to it. You'll never see this again.
I saw them in Montreal
I think it was 1986 I was 26
the whole band was staggeringly good
Omar’s playing was life changing for me.
Later on my 40th I got to be his drum tech for a clinic in Nova Scotia he was such a gentleman and to see his skills up close is something I feel very fortunate about
The cats are all on point....Victor's bass phrasings and inflections at the right moments...goodness me...

Masterpiece ...no one else could..
Excellent!!
Omar Hakim - wow! Also - was this really 1984!?! Wasn't he like 2 years old?
Best line up was Jaco, Alex Acuna etc
still great performance here, thanks.
I agree. Line-ups from 1976 - 1982 where most musical.
Yeah, I saw them in NYC (at The Savoy) during this tour. Amazing. Omar and Zawinul are the masters of dynamics :-) Shit was telepathic! Lol
i love this jam
Gregory Johnson Truth....
Masterpiece. Dialogue
Tremendous!
evolving sound candy
Best ever
Have you ever?
really amazing
strange how both cinelu and Omar are in the lineup; this must have been very soon before this is this. the thing is, I thought weather report didn't tour after sportin' life. I'll have to research that...
BirdYork Enterprises Ltd. Victor Bailey...absolutely a monster on the electric bass....
I belive this (1984) is before Sportin' life (1985).
Oh, you know what, you're right. They let Rossy go and hired Cinelu before they went into the studio to record, according to weatherreportdiscography.org/sportin-life
👏👏👏👏👏
😍
If you don't have 14 minutes, scroll up to about 12:00.
What synth is Joe using there? I recognise it but can’t remember what it is!
ARP quadra
@@davylouradour2075 thank you!
Call you Bobby Or call you Dylan
Call you even Zimmer man
But you are gonna be
Always divine man
Can Voice so versatile& virtuoso Be void to avoid
Eternity to divinity Ever enchanting mythical mystical Cafe Roya where angels fear to tread
Where saints sit and stroll
With spacey eyes and stoic looks Hemming humming birds
On to the canvas
A carnival of curious minds
Wandering wildly But like solitary creepers
In the far out space
Like spaced out soulful serenade Singing poetry for poise and grace
To escape garish to tornado
To disappear into the garden of God
Grandiose galactic wonder
Withering and tethering
Creating new stars in new galaxies
Crowning new universes
With many parallels
In solitude and multitudes
May God bless us bliss
May God fill us With the mercy of the almighty
The Trinity tucked into one
The GOD THE Generator, Operator and Disoluter
Let's bow to
Almighty the GOD ultimate
Anyone knows where I can find the lyrics? Thank you!
I'm pretty sure they were printed up on the album insert.
@@hubbsllc thank you! But i think they aren't .....please let me know if you find them!
@@pablobeuille8973 The intertubes don't seem to have anything and I no longer have my vinyl so all I have are snatches of what's in my memory...it starts with "Here's the moral of the story" and then there's "life is short"..."Bogota, Singapore - anywhere the moon goes"
