Man, one of the greatest of all prog bands, in yet another partial iteration, haven't lost a step! Man, Kansas belongs on the Mt. Rushmore of Prog bands!
Old timer here, LOL. I've seen Kansas in concert probably 20-25 times through the years. Well everything changes obviously. I have not seen every configuration of the band live but most of them. I would say they're still ALL professionals, masters of their craft very talented musicians at the upper level. So I think it's kind of cool to see the band with new players at times and there's still rocking in a new way with the foundation of timeless classic music and lyrics. Got to rock on!
@@crusheverything4449 There were three Kansas bands in the 70s, and they weren't the same as each others, but they did have overlap in members. Then there were three more in the 80s and five lineups in the 90s. They have always had people coming in and out. The common element is the music, and that has been excellent in every incarnation.
@@Parableman - As a fan since ‘75, I know Kansas history like the back of my hand. I’ve interviewed eleven past and present members, many several times. I saw every incarnation multiple times. I like the vast majority of stuff they’ve done over the decades, but nothing compares to The Original 6, who made it possible for the band to carry on for so long by recording such incredible music on those first 6 albums.
Now that Rich is last man standing , are they going to continue ? Haven't heard last two records, I know it's on my list, just so much music so little time. Just have a soft spot in my heart for the original members. ☮️
Phil Ehart was recovering and only playing the second half of the shows then. 29:30. He isn't going anywhere! I saw the Monolith tour in 1980 something, you're right, great then. Kerry was my guy!
Just saw them when they came to the Keswick in Glenside Pa and they had the other drummer in for the first half of the show and then Phil took over and there was a distinct difference...no disrespect to the other drummer, he's great as well. They sounded as good as ever!!!
Just not the same. I saw the 50th in Pittsburgh. Just can't replace Steve, Robbie , Kerry ETC. When they were on top of their game, there were none better!
Was there! 😊 Second time I've seen them at this fabulous old building (BalboaTheater). 👍👏🎸🎶 @musicsdca seen many shows at old Cobo Hall in Detroit👍😁 my original haunt until the military brought me out here. Cheers 🍻
He's bouncing back from an arm injury and just playing the second half of some recent shows. The band's drum tech of many decades Eric Holmquist has been filling in
Time passes. I saw them 45 years ago. They were amazing. They’re still selling out theaters on this tour, no one attending seems disappointed at all. All the new members were very carefully hand picked by Phil. Let the band enjoy an amazing 50 year victory lap
The band without Steve Walsh isn't Kansas in my opinion. I realize he retired from the band in 2014 but his voice helped define their sound and was one the best in rock.
Seems to me that Steve Walsh had more energy than this whole band. Just doesn't seem like they have the same giddy up. I mean they're good players no doubt. I can't tell is that Phil on drums? Or was this after his heart issue ?
Thanks for the comment. Phil was recovering and only playing the second half of the shows then. 29:30. Honestly the super magic was Kerry Livgren. Steve Walsh was awesome but already having vocal issues by the 90's when I saw them.. The young person I brought to this show much prefers the new younger members, who were very carefully searched for and screened by Phil. He's trying to keep the band revelent, doing a good job!

Extremely impressed!! After all these years still tight and what vocals damn!!
There sound is so unreal…. What a group… thank you KANSAS for staying together for so long……. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😁😁😁😁😁😁
Saw them a few weeks ago in San Antonio. Friggin' great show!
Saw them in Austin too
Great just like in 79!
Loved the current line-up keeping it alive!
Music transcends the legendary players.
Waooooo!!! Super KANSAS . SO FANTASTIC CONCERT
Great job..cheers to the singer
Monolith album is great. 3 of its songs here so good

Band from my home state..... Don't get any better that that !!!!!!
kansas is from Texas
These particular guys are from Kansas, Kansas, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, New Jersey, and Indiana.
@brucecox5266 - You shoulda heard this band in the 70s. Of course, it wasn’t really THIS band…

I was there too, great concert!
Vida longa ao KANSAS, os velhos estão mandando muito bem!!!!

Ron Platt sounds like a young Steve Walsh 😁

Yeah, the other drummer does things well, but Phil's an incredible percussionist on a level few could duplicate
This is not the Kansas that played in Flower Mound a Few years ago. Much Better. Thanks.

Ronnie Platt, best jazz hands in rock.
"Monolith" is 1979
I was going to but I had no one to go with. Kinda pissed. I wanted to see Steve.
He retired 10 years ago
WHERE IS WALSH???
retired 10 years ago
where is Carry On?
Scroll to 1:04:39. It's the encore.
No son los originales, pero se escuchan bien.

What happened to Phil?

@@musicsdca Is this the same arm injury he had a year ago?
yes@@jables3377
Is there an opening act on this tour?
no
All the greats except for Phil are gone as well as Rich. Sad. Just not the same energy. My opinion. I grew up with them.

50 Years Later Still a Very Good Band and That Can’t Be Said By Most Bands!!!
If Still Performing Today?

This iteration of Kansas just doesn't do it for me. So different from the original line-up.
