That’s better Rich. You and that cockpit view. Winter trip wouldn’t be right on anything else!! Thank you👍👍
Bike sounds great Rich 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Almost shed a tear when I heard Hutch Had passed. I never missed an episode starsky & Hutch 😔
I love it when you meet a viewer and they say "you've not posted for a while!" knowing I've posted a minimum two videos a week without fail for the past 8 years non-stop!!!
Yeah it must feel so great being recognised at all considering how small your channel is 👍🏻
I wonder how many others think the same?! Probs the reason performance is low at the mo!
@@RichyVida maybe links to some of your tour videos on touring bike Facebook pages would boost figures. There’s always new people moving into the touring bike sector, and they possibly aren’t aware of the back catalogue.
Thanks James.
Quite a few saying they aren’t seeing my videos, and have to “search” for them. 😣😣😣
@@RichyVidathat’s why they need to subscribe and hit the bell
Good to see you out on the AT. Great to hear its the bike for your upcoming adventure. I know its each to their own, but it's a very special motorcycle and so looks the part in the white colour scheme. Take care and keep safe.
Great to see that AT out again, and being used on the trip. Looking forward to the videos Richy
I recognized the pub at 6.35. I went past it many times on various bikes in the 70's.
Great to see our Keith out and about again was beginning to miss seeing the AT
Great news to hear you will be taking Keith on your solo winter adventure can’t wait to see where you are going
And nice to see you using MRA I’ve been using it for the last few years its a brilliant tool no issues down loading routes
Safe riding
Great winter riding. I’ve ridden York to Scotland twice in the last few weeks, must of only seen 5 bikes. Stunning winters riding. Was inspired by your trip last year! Thanks
Love the big lad, so does everyone else, the bloke in the garage shows that x
Can't wait to see what adventures you and Ar Keith get upto on your trip!
Having persevered for 5 years I got quite adept at planning routes on Garmin Basecamp for my nav6 - took the plunge with MRA …..WOW, WOW, WOW….. it’s transformed how I plan routes, save and share them with mates. Loaded our Picos 8 day trip, absolutely faultless !!!
Exactly! Super simple, and actually a pleasure to plan on, too.
great video Richy lovely to see the local area and that video on the app and XT will be very helpful, best way to spend a Sunday evening!
Great little vlog Richy. Looking forward to seeing the solo tour 👍
Great to see you out in sunny Derbyshire Richy, just be careful on those icey roads pal. 👍
Always nice to get out even in the winter just got a Keis heated jacket and glove so warm keep up the great vids 👍
Those days I look for the sunny side of the road and sun behind me going home. 🍻😎🏍💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦
I was racking my brains for a good winter tour destination and had a brainwave. Sardinia! It’s a bit cool, this time of year but the scenery looks gorgeous and should make a nice change from last years arctic conditions plus it’s a little less obvious than Spain and Portugal.😊
Have looked at Sardinia 👍
Nice to see you out and about on Keith and blowing off the xmas cob webs. Looks like the bike was ready for a good run out and decoke. Good job for the ABS on those patches of ice and testing the back brake proved the point. I am glued to the laptop awaitng the nest installment Rich, thanks for thetrip out in the sunshine. 😎
Nice vid fella. You stay safe out there.. 😊
Great to see you out on the AT! I was out today also, not on the VFR but my NC750X (seen on my channel). 145 miles, no heated grips, no heated gloves, or clothing! I use the superb Richa Street Touring Gortex gloves, hands only started to feel cold if I went above 50 mph. Two pairs of thick socks, feet felt cold around 100 miles in. New Africa Twin likely inbound soon with heated grips, such luxury!
I reckon the NC750X-(DCT) is the most versatile bike out there.
Rather chilly.Cheers.
I did the same think with the random route this weekend Richy. Used Calimoto, 120 mile route to the east, over Newark way loads of roads I haven’t been on, went past the Dambusters airfield. Bloody good fun but flooded everywhere.
Another great video shows how slippy the side roads can be. I'm looking forward to Bike4life in April. Hopefully, it'll stay dry, anyway, ride safe
Would be really helpful Rich to do an updated route Garmin XT route planner style video. Stay safe on the latest winter trip mate, good luck
MRA takes some beating Richy, been using it for years, all our Europe trips and UK trips are planned via this , its excellent.
Agreed. More I use it the more I love it.
Some stunning roads up there - I did Bolton, leek,Buxton loop today
Be great see a Zumo xt vid as you know I can’t use some functions on mine, I’m using scenic at the mo and sending it to Zumo will give your way a whirl
Great video again. I miss my AT
Hiya Richie, another goodun well done hope it didn't take to long to thaw out, You mentioned you may do a video on routes into the XT. Please do as I found the last one you did a long while back really useful. Thanks mate. Ride carefully.
MRA is the only planner I use, ditched all the rest. Brilliant tool and very easy to use, even plan all my continental tours on it. I just click n drag into my gps find that by far the quickest and easiest way.👍👍 Great vid by the way.😎 FB
Thanks Mate great video just what l needed.
Perfect! Glad you enjoyed
Hope you come all the way south, Portsmouth, Gosport area and if you fancy a little bit of the IOW x
Nice little video that Richy, Get home for a nice cup of tea mate ….and a mince pie of course 🤪
Looking forward to your winter adventure ! And yes it would be brilliant if you could do a vid on the mra route planner
I’d love to meet you one day and say thanks for all the videos - especially the US series.
Likewise, mate 👍
Was that Saturday you were out mate . It was a tad chilly . Went to Wigan to pick my new bike up -3 over the tops from ingleton towards Lancaster . Ice in middle of road but made it safe. All the best for the new year . Keep her shiny side up 😂😂👍👍
Yes it was. Bloody freezing! Glad you made It back safe on your new machine! What is it?
Got a 23 plate Kawasaki ninja 1000sx performance model . So nice . Was a better ride home . Think I’ll wait till warmer weather before I get it back out of do the same as you and get a heated jacket and gloves . 😂😂😂😂
You must’ve been twitching on your brand new bike! “Please don’t drop it” haha
Twitching didn’t come into it . Iv riden in some weather in my time but never that cold . . Still haven’t warmed up . 😂😂😂😂.
Winter trip around Ireland 🤌🏻 do your wild Atlantic way trip again 😊
Rkeith out n about 👍 definitely a very cold day,no heated socks on, and you came north 😂😂 . cuppa ☕️ well 🤔.
Take care, stay safe 🏍👍👌
That icy bit looked like Sparrowpit - that road cuts across to the road at the top of Winnats Pass
That's it!
Great vid as always.
In MRA switch to Tom Tom which will then give additional curviness and hilliness settings to plan your route. Then compare to HERE and add waymarkers to bring the Garmin route in line with Tom Tom.
Thanks for that! Will give it a nosey..
Nice to see Africa twin out be interesting to see where you end up this year . Noticed you went past my favourite cafe in edale the penny pot cafe genuinely the people who run it are the most friendly I have ever run across in any cafe and the coffee is good 😁
Oh really? I'm not familiar with that one, but I will remedy that asap! Thanks for that Terry.
Mince pies and thick cream like Morecambe and Wise. Just wouldn't be Christmas without.
Great video hope you don't mind we have mentioned you in a couple of our video's as a channel to watch. Keep up the good work
Oh thank you very much! Of course not. I’ll head over and have a nosey to return the favour! 👍
Got to be proper CORNISH clotted cream with a mince pie! ❤xxx
You have my address, Sue! haha
I’d love to see the new Zumo procedure!
Ayup Richy. Good to see you on my stomping ground NW Derbyshire towards Stockport. In Disley 7 springs garage no less! It's funny, while you were there, I was in your direction round Ashbourne area. Proper icy round Longnor with TC flashing and bike now ditched from the road gunge. Ride safe
Yeah, I need to get over your way a bit more!
man thats a nice bike just had a look 9k used lol im trying to save up for a speed master 865 but going slow thats the prob when you cant work anymore no income but that Africa Twin is very very nice
Hey Richy, watched your old vid exporting and importing from Calimoto to Zumo XT... its what I've been doing. However, as you said it does get lost in translation. I always get a message saying there are 29 coordinators do you want to continue or spilt the route into two. It still works but I believe you lose some of the key stops. So, I0'll look forward to the video dedicated for the app and Zumo XT. As always, thank you. ❤
Thanks for video. looking forward to your MRA to Zumo XT tips video as I am using the same to plan my upcoming summer trips to Spain and Norway. If you have any tips on how to make sure the zumo does not re-calc routes if you stray from your route (shaping points v via points).. Many thanks for this and all your videos. your videos are part of the reason for my big trip plans for this year.
You can select for the auto re-route to ask if you want it to re-route, or turn it off all together. But yes, I will look into this..
@@RichyVida thank so much for this. I will also be testing this once the weather warms up a bit. I am not as brave or talented as you re riding on ice.. hope you are well and happy new year.
Great seeing you back on the Africa Twin, I think you and the Twin go together like mince pie and double cream…I still have one more box to go😋
Haha brilliant!
You’ve gone and done now Richy. Just put deposit on new AT DCT ES. Pick next week, can’t wait 😊😊
Oh congratulations! Which colour did you go for?
@@RichyVida Same as yours mate. Looks great doesn’t it
Richy, you are hardcore rider, I love your vids. See you on the road.
Thanks for being here, Sir!
Nice ride out mate, bloody L that pipe sounds tasty,, ;-)
Ride Safe Mr B \m/
Rich, I get so much great info from your channel mate your a wealth of knowledge, I've checked the MRA app seems it doesn't support english maps for me here in Japan (have posted the question on the forum) as the same for Calimoto (whom have emailed me and are working on it to get it enabled). None the less really appreciate all the great info you you share for us all !!
Really? I just checked here, and can generate a curvy route in Japan, no prob? What happens your end?
Hi Rich, it appears you need to have a subscription (39 euros per year) to be able to change the maps too "here" and then see it in English after speaking to people in the forums so they tell me
Aah! I bought the Lifetime membership so have access to it all. I would defo recommend doing that, though. It’s not much either.
thanks Rich, I'm waiting for my CONNECTEDRIDE NAVIGATOR to be delivered by my Dealer here in Tokyo, as soon as I get that I'll create a tutorial over here in Japan using MRA with the new NAVI 👍
Looking forward to the winter trip, is there not some wintery weather on the way, heard northern Norway was expecting to drop from -36 to -40. You know you can use the volume buttons as shutter buttons, know you probably do but thought I’d mention it.
Yes, thank you, though. I just forget haha
So
Glad you’re going on the AT 👍 can’t wait for the ride.
Dying to
Get out in my bike. It was June last time. Just before my back popped.
I’ve not stopped
Being in pain. But still been working 😂
Was hoping to get out with my brother today but seems
He’s lost interest…
Help me 😂 I get the urge to go out but then I don’t move. Like even just now at 21:24 on Sunday evening…
But yeah looking forwards to your ride…
Calimoto I stopped using it again
Gone back to scenic. It’s had some good updates.
But don’t know if it will work with your system…
👍👍👍
Sorry to hear you're still struggling, Dave.
@@RichyVida Thanks Richy. 👍❤️
Great Video Richy.
Been using MRA for a few years now and really like it, very easy to plan routes and export to XT 1 or 2.
Quick question if I may - your Arai Visor -is it light or dark smoke ? I ask because i was out the weekend with my Tour X5 and need a darker visor for it as the sun was so low.
Keep up the great work. 👍✊
Congrats on the X5! This is the dark smoke on my X4. I don't think the new visors are in yet, for the X5?
I own a zumo and the thing that puts me off it is how much a pain trying to set up routes on it. This might help me get back to trying the zumo again
I honestly fought it for so long. I hated it and the hassle that goes with. But persevered, found a super easy solution, and now I absolutely love it. Stick with it..
Ive just ordered a heated vest keis.not clued up on the heated feet bit you'll have to show us yours .
Heated socks! Plug into your jacket/vest..
I wish i could ride my bike. It's been below -20 degrees Celsius here. It's going to be colder again next week. 🥶
Good luck, Roy!
OOOhhhh ! Look at the celebrity..........they'll be asking for your autograph next. pal. 😁
Think a photo is the new ag. Stay with it... ;-)
Rich , for a sec I thought you was gona pull a MotoUk😅 .
Nice video , your blessed in those regions.
Oh, sorry, what is a "MotoUK" Don't mean to offend anyone by saying that, either.. Just not sure what you mean :-)
@@RichyVida Sorry mate, I thought you new him . His name is Nick. He rides a Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Pro.
A couple of weeks ago he came of his bike on Black Ice. He's ok , just some damage to his bike. MotoUK
Oh right. Yes, of course, I’ll check it out 👍
Luvly video richy yep the ice is upon us haha. If you have time check out a guy on here called the Wiltshire man his videos are great. Keep them videos coming 👍👍👍
Yes, I'm familiar with that very nice Gent. Cheers mate!
Nice one bud, a wee bit surprised to see you fill up with shitty E10 fuel.
Aah makes no difference
Hi Richy, great video, as always!
Any problems or limits to using Keis heated clothing on the Africa Twin? I asked my dealer about using it on mine, but he wasn't sure if the load might stress the AT's power supply. I've only got the jacket so far, but I fancy some other Keis bits. Grateful for any feedback.
Did you see my winter trip to the outer Hebrides last year? Sub zero temps, loaded up with gloves, jacket, socks, Sat Nav, and awesome lighting.. no issues 👍
Thanks: I haven't seen that yet, Richy v- I'll look for it.... Ride safe 👍@@RichyVida
Give it a watch and hold tight! It’s a good ‘un!
Me and a pal were out on Saturday on the enduro bikes. Black ice everywhere. He touched the front brake, front wheel tucked and he ended up cracking a rib. Easy done. 😥
bloody hell? How is he? Yep, it was weird. I kept thinking the tyres were not happy with the cold, til I realised the front abs was activating, and realising it was ice!
Still a touch sore. We were literally doing 6moh max, but it just shows how you can get caught out. Plenty of Whisky required to numb the pain. 🥃
I know you like the V-Strom but can’t beat the Honda
How do you find those heated gloves as I find mine really chunky to ride in .
These are the Shorty gloves so small cuff. Don’t find them chunky or “wintery” at all.
Cornflake tart and Pink Custard 😄
I thought more of you, Alan!
@@RichyVida Don't knock it try it 😄😄
😂😂
Are you off to Scotland again
Only a little over 2k miles. I just rolled over 40k on my K1600GT. The day looks great for riding.
Now that all this C garbage is over I am planning bring the bike over to the UK for some good riding. Got a co-worker with a Triumph that is planning a good ride.
For some strange reason YT is not showing me your videos anymore. I have to go an look for them now, which sucks.
Really? what the hell is that all about?
Why don’t you just subscribe and hit the notification bell? Then you’ll know every time.
@@RichyVida I had thought you disappeared, until I went looking one day. Been playing catch up with the videos I missed. Was wondering if they have done something with the regional setting within TY. All is good and I am know what I have to do now.
If that was yesterday morning…….. yes ice everywhere, bad enough walking dog never mind riding 😂
Saturday am, yep!
Hi Richy what is the phone holder you use on the AT….?
I don't have a phone holder on it?
My mistake I now see it’s a satnav not a phone………👍🏻🥴
I thought you sold the Africa twin Richie…did I miss a video? Happy New Year btw 🎉
Sold it? no mate...
@@RichyVida I watched your video called it’s the end of the road for big lad and me, so thought you had sold it or was that a different bike? I’m getting old and senile so I must have missed something 😅👍👍
Haha no, that video was getting rid of the Big Lad, making way for the new one - video was Feb last year and new one followed straight on from it!
@@RichyVida thanks for clearing that up Richie….looking forward to watching your next solo trip uploads….cheers 👍👍👍
A tutorial on the MRA and transferring the files to Garmin would be useful. Does Garmin not alter the map in any way as your not using Garmin mapping?
HERE is Garmin mapping.
I work as a software engineer and work with computers all day long and the explanation you gave about the routes and gpx made my head hurt. Sure, you can get it to work but you mentioned 4 application and 3 devices (!). (Your desktop computer, Smartphone and Zumo itself. MRA, Google maps, export to GPX, Garmin Drive app, Zumo software).
Crazy that the workflow is still so terrible in 2024.
Ok. You made that way more complicated than it actually is haha..
1. Plan and save on big screen (will already be in your phone)
2. Send from phone to Drive, Drive sends it to Zumo.
Done.
PAAAAAN AMERIIIICAAAAN ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Out of interest, any reason why you don’t use CarPlay for navigation? Just took my NT 1100 (Africa Twin for the road) for its first service yesterday. Looking forward to putting some miles on it now. Ride safe fella!
Only because I hate having to plug-in and un-plug the phone to activate it. I have a wifi dongle arriving today, so that eliminates that issue, hopefully enabling CarPlay without the fuss!
@@RichyVida any chance you could let me know if it’s any good please? Thanks 👍🏻
Arrived and tested (just in garage) but seems spot on. No more hassle. Send me an email rich@wildbadtouring.com and I’ll show ya the pics of it. (Or follow in Insta as I’ll post there later)
@@RichyVida Thanks for the info. Just ordered one 🙂
Hello🖐👀👍
What a sad guy in car , following people 😂
I must be old. I have nil interest in a satnav. I use an old-fashioned map. I won't be changing methods any time soon.....
Each to their own, my friend!
I can see why so many middle aged men got back into motorcycles, the invention of the SatNav.
After 40 years of riding I still don’t use a SatNav, I much prefer exploring by myself, only time I needed my phone for navigation was around Europe trying to avoid motorways and trying to find hotels and campsites.
In Oz I use a paper map to get an idea where to go and just follow my nose. 😂😂😂😂
Good man!
First
Not a huge fan of sat nav rides. I am a fan of bikes having no names or gender.
