    I prefer Playnite. because Launchbox eats a lot of RAMs. Playnite only consume rams around 80MB. but Launchbox consumes rams around 1100MB. that's a huge difference.

    Cool video. I personally have used LaunchBox for years. Not sure why in the video you clicked on the badges button and called it filtering. While the badge system is behind a paywall, LaunchBox has quite a robust and customizable filtering system, all of which is part of the free version. You can click on the filter button next to the search bar to do what you were wanting to do in the video no problem.

    wow this vid has been a long time coming!
    I've been fed up with GOG Galaxy for in the past year. Integrations keep breaking completely, getting signed out and crashing. Every time i try to launch a game i start praying and it usually doesn't work unless i fiddle with it. GOG only releases updates and fixes for their storefront and seem like they don't care about developing the software at all.
    I've tried Playnite in the past and it works great. The UI is a bit rough and overly complicated and i haven't found the time yet to try bringing it to my liking.
    Launchbox seems like a good option but i'd definitely want to buy the lifetime license so once again, a lot of testing needs to be done and so little time...!

    I personally really like OneGameLauncher. Very simple, lightweight, clean UI. You can set launch options that lets ROMS automatically launch from their respective emulators, so you just click on the game covers (which can also be customized) and it launches them!

    I must be really old, because I’ve never had a problem using the launchers from Steam, GOG, Blizzard, etc. separately. Maybe I don’t have as many games as other people do….75 in Steam and 40 in GOG.
    I still remember putting the CD in the computer and just playing the game from a start menu or an icon on the desktop. Like I said, I’m old.

      It's more convenient, that's really it. Plus if you have a pc and wamt to use it for a htpc or like a console this makes it easier to select the games across all store fronts and emulation with just a controller.

    GOG Galaxy looks clean but without a big screen mode and lack of customization, I stopped using it…and when I was using it the integration tools stopped working so I was unable to run Steam games off of it…so I had to stop using it.
    Playnite is the best I’ve used on PC. It is also great for handheld pc’s. Very customizable, and can use metadata from almost every source…even Launchbox (which I think is the best for metadata source for roms…but not for pc games tho) and SteamGridDB. Once I got used to it, I found it to be the best.
    Launchbox is not a bad front end for playing roms, but it sucks for PC games.
    I tried Pegasus which I think is fantastic on Android (my favorite Android front end) but it doesn’t feel as smooth on my ROG Ally X. So I will probably skip it on Windows.

    • @_Caddac

      No, it still has to launch them through the respective storefront but you can set it up to launch the store alongside a game, and then close it when you close the game

    • @expakun
      @expakun Месяц назад

      @@asuperrandomguy8266 In Playnite go to settings and then Auto Close Clients on the Left side. There, you can set up which launchers you want to close when you close a game. You can also change the delay there is between closing your game and closing your client, but I would personally recommend leaving this value as it is just to make sure that cloud saves work correctly.

    I prefer Launchbox. If you're the kind of person who refuses to pay for ANY software when a free alternative exists, then go with something else. But the price of upgrading to the premium version of Launchbox isn't unreasonably high at all, given all that comes with it, and development for it is very active.

    i tried playnite. saw gog was a thing. tried gog. thought it was nice. uninstalled playnite. realised its not possible to add custom games to gog. uninstalled gog. reinstalled playnite. playnite better purely because you can just add a custom game if needed (imo). havent tried launchbox, will update after.

    • @a_toby_a

      first thing. download feels really sketchy, didnt like how that felt... Launchbox seems to be focused more on an emulating rather than a place to keep all games which is not what im looking for. I think that if youre looking for a place to view all of your games in one place, playnite is the way to go. very easy to set up and can also very easily add custom games if a game you want isnt showing up. you can add custom games on launchbox but it takes much more setting up where as with playnite you just drag and drop then import metadata. My only issue with playnite is that (to my knowledge) you cant run a "custom game" from a launcher that isnt supported for example: i want to be able to run runelite through the jagex launcher but the jagex launcher isnt supported so instead i have made a "custom game" that instead runs the launcher instead of the game (sort of counter intuitive but at least my games are technically all together).
      overall, in my opinion, playnite is the best for viewing all your games in one place.

    Never use gog, Playnite is great for beginners, launch box is a BEAST, better for tinker users. Launch box is the oldest and more refined, they charge because it's worth what you're paying for

    • @posterboi87
      @posterboi87 4 месяца назад +1

      @@AquaLady153 it isn't actually a front end, it's a launcher pretending to be a front end. Both playnite and launch box have scripting, custom options, controller friendly, pulls from ALL libraries including installed and not installed games.
      Both were built to be front ends so they function as such. Launch box is older so it has WAY more features but Playnite is pretty darn good for what it is, specifically with all the crazy plug ins
