- I recently was sent a TIG 200 from RazorWeld to learn how to TIG weld and document the process. I will be continuing to add videos not only on my progress but the things I discover along the way. In this video, I reached out to an expert on TIG Welding Jody Collier aka Weldmonger from Welding Tips and Tricks. If you are watching this video, you have likely spent enough time on RUclips watching welding videos that you are already familiar with Jody. I got to sit down with Jody ask some questions, go over the TIG 200 and actually get a little coaching on TIG welding and best practices for practice. Below are some links to Jody's Channel, His store, and affiliate links to the products we mention in the video. Thanks for watching.

Fun day👊🏻👊🏻
weldingtipsandtricks thanks so much Jody. It was a fun day. Glad it’s on video. I hope you’re doing well.
you are the grandpoppa Jody !!!
It's actually really cool to see Jody running through the settings for the thirst time and and showing you just need to look at it carefully and make mental notes and not get intimidated by the panel they look complicated. But most people will eventually get it . I can remember just looking at tig panel and being put off . Now I run a fronius and love it to bits it just look a while
J C. Awesome. I’ve heard good things about Fronius. Once he broke it down it was much easier to digest. I guess it’s that way with anything. No one part is that hard. Just take it down to each component.
Just bought this welder today. Hopefully pic it up tomorrow. Being wanting this tig welder for a long time now. So excited I’ll be able with practice no doubt to do some HF AC aluminum welding on my tinny boat and anything really. The world will be my oyster.
TIG was a big learning curve but I really enjoy it.
Where did you purchase this welder from ?
@@ManCrafting sounds cool 👍
@@faronf2006 Total Tools mate.$1400 Australian. Spend more than 1300 they give you $100 to spend at the store. Something they do probs 4 or 5 times a year. Proving your a member.
lol the ending :D ty for all the tips
“Practicing with intention”, that was my favorite quote. Applies to any new venture. Great interview 👍
Jodie Grosklags nice catch. Thanks for watching. 😘
So cool to have him show you in person!! Good stuff!!
Jake Thompson thanks for watching Jake. It was absolutely the best getting a real welder to help me out and give me feed back.
I have got the same TIG Welder: Unimig, Razor 200 AC/DC TIG. This is a very capable machine despite it's size. I do agree that the Display/Menu is a bit confusing as it does literally everything through a single push button knob. I am just a home User and mainly use it for Aluminum TIG welding. I can now lay down stacked shiny Dime Aluminum Welds just using the Foot Pedal..so no pulsing program. The machine can do any welding that even at professional level would cover 95%+ of work encountered.
It's just practice....keep using it..evaluate your work and keep learning...the machine no matter how sophisticated can't do it for you, but as you get better, this unit won't limit you as your capabilities and your work usage starts to broaden.
I really love mine and it's only limitation is......ME 🙄
Pretty much the limitation is always me.
Lucky to have such a legend on your channel. Great video guys. Thinking of buying this machine.
Absolutely fortunate. Send me an email. ManCrafting101@gmail.com
Jody is the MAN!
Without question. So glad he was willing to walk me through this.
This was a hidden gem 💎 cool to revisit this! Favorite time for RUclips welding for me :)
One of the highlights of my time making RUclips videos.
Well, I just learned several things that I didn’t know before. Sure seems that “practice” is the key word here, and patience. Great video with plenty of valuable advice.
Thanks Bernie. Practice is absolutely essential. Not only that, but knowing how to practice. Watch a video on the specific TIG process you want to learn. Do it a few times on both right and left sides and the watch the video again to make sure you are on track.
You gotta burn to learn bottom line!!! The only way to learn how to weld is to do it! One of the biggest mistakes for this so called “Maker” community was Lincoln sponsoring a handful of Makers and they made videos saying how easy tig welding is and that’s not true! The best thing to do is get some scrap pieces of flat bar and just practice as much as possible and get to know you’re machine and figure out what makes you comfortable! Comfort is a huge factor when it comes to tig welding
David White that line is perfect. I couldn’t agree more. TIG is much more of a learning curve than MIG was. At least for me anyway. I’m doing exactly what you recommend. I got a bunch of scrap plates from my local steel supplier and 10 pounds of ER70S-2 and am burning through it.
MancraftingTM I love your enthusiasm when it comes to learning how to weld and you did the right thing by reaching out to Jody! Start with mild steel and then try your hand at stainless. I spent many of lunch breaks to get where I’m at and just remember don’t over complicate it! If you have any questions we follow each other on IG I’m @davey2103 so feel free to message me if you run into any problems or just have a question
David White will do. Thanks for the offer. I’m learning that some things are learned quicker when someone coaches you. I love RUclips and have learned a lot, but 30 minutes of coaching replaced days of doing it over and over incorrectly. It’s hard to see what you’re doing wrong sometimes. That said, I’m probably just a hard case. 🤣
Dude I have to brush up on my welding game. Listening to you guys talk was like sitting in Spanish class back in school lol. Totally different language but I got a lot of good info brother. Guess that’s what I get for not yet watching welding videos. Thanks so much for this its a good start to my welding education!!! Hope you do more of these. Great job, and great Tim Taylor insert lol.
I totally get what you mean. Even watching this back I’m having to write down things like 4043 or ER70S2. So many letters and numbers. 🤣. It’s like any skill you want to acquire. Filled with a language of its own.
Very sophisticated machine. I can see some of those features being handy for when you do have a foot pedal.
GODFATHER of Welding. So cool. I met Jody at WorkbenchCon!
U Do It that’s where this video idea was hatched. I first met Jody in 2017 at the Atlanta Woodworking Show. JD (whose shop we were at) and I have hung out several times since and Jody is usually with JD. So we’ve built a relationship over the past two years at half a dozen get togethers.
@@ManCrafting I shared this on my community tab!
U Do It awesome. I really should get more familiar with those features. I’m sure it helps to use them.
Very pleased to see Jody with the Razor. Mine has an AC balance that goes from +10 to -10 and I can never remember which way is cleaning.
+cleaning - penatrating I put piece of label masking tape it's helped over time
Love Jodi! Have learned so much just from him. Thanks!
I’m sad he moved. I never see him now.
I’ll put this video in my back pocket for another day. Thanks for making this
Infinite Craftsman hey thanks for stopping by. You’ll love TIG if you get a chance to try it.
Anymore videos on this welder. I wish Jodi could play with it a little longer. Good video just to short 👍
I want to start welding for my next projects. This video is very helpful
Christofix - DIY Projects awesome. Can’t wait to see what you are planning.
Great interview Chad! Thanks Jody
Gary Jones Thanks Gary. How’s the slopes? Winter over yet?
I run the Esab Sentinal A50 helmet (same helmet as Jody) and its great I love it. 10/10 definately recommend
It’s definitely a nice helmet.
Lots of info, thanks for sharing! 👍🏻👨🏻🏭💥👊🏻....definitely going to be on my list of things to reference whenever I eventually get into welding! 😃
Thanks for stopping by Fred! You will absolutely love welding. It's amazing.
Nice video Chad, I enjoyed the Q & A with Jody! Glad your setting out to learn this
JD Brewer thanks so much for letting us use your shop and all you did to prepare for us being there. 110% more than I was expecting. Don’t know why I was surprised. You are the man. 🔥👊🏼🔥
@@ManCrafting no problem, glad it went to good use
Always good.
Catching up some of the older videos Chad. Great job on the welding series 👍👍. I use a mig most of the time. I have a new tig that I haven’t plugged in yet due to time
Mark Lengal thanks Mark. TIG is a different world. Two hands and a foot all working together. I think I’ll spend some time today practicing.
Great video for beginners 👨🏽🏭
Thanks. Going to FabTech?
Not until next year unfortunately, I recently opened up a channel and have plenty of welding footage that I want to upload but waiting on some editing to be finished
WOW!!! Very interesting!, makes me wanna come back to your house and do some more welding :D
jp woodwork takes on a different perspective once you have actually welded doesn’t it. Your more than welcome to come back anytime. One of my next two videos should be of you learning to weld. 👊🏼🔥👊🏼
@@ManCrafting yeah, was fun learning to weld, its definitely something im going to have to look into start doing, even if i start of small in a shed in the back yard
jp woodwork you can always roll it outside. That’s where I did all of my welding for at least a year.
ManCraftingTM very true
Very helpful! Thanks 😊
Crafter Maker thanks for watching Meli. Glad you found it helpful!
Never tried TIG.. I would really like to learn it, how long would you say it would take for someone to get let's say ok at it?..
lignum great question. 🤣. I’d say I was ok after 2-3 weeks.
You can make cheaper DIY rod tubes from PVC pipe and fittings. 1m of tube, male & female thread fittings (ones that sleeve OVER the tube) and 2 caps. Cut the tube at about 750mm. and use both pieces.
Jody actually has a video on that and I do have all the materials on hand. That said, I bought a tube holder a friend makes and tubes from another welder friend. I need to take some time and put it up.
I have exactly the same welder and I'm a tig beginner too. It's a great welder and I'm very happy with it..but I can not get the Spot function to work. Have you tried it? Great video.
I haven’t.
Hey do you have a video on this same machine I just brought this machine and I dint understand the setting need it for doing alloy
sean21911able this is it. Sorry.
Is this setting for alloy as well
Where did you purchase your Razorweld ?
amzn.to/3ApWNSa
Damn audio. I just got one and was hoping to learn the ac side of the machine
We had three cameras filming. It was a hugger disappointment.
When all else fails, refer to the owners manual.
Seems like that would be the way to go.
aluminium alloys wheel cracks repair
this is good machine? razor ac dc 200
Look at the HTP America set up. Made in Italy. Should be a link in my description.
