I videoed myself for about 10 mins of my hit and see all the things I need to correct on my forehand, volley, backhand slice and not to mention at the last, my footwork. I'm addicted to your videos instructions and even podcasts. I would be listening to your podcasts over and over again every time when I am driving to matches. They are absolutely the best and give me the focus going into matches. Big thank you Coach Ryan!
Really like your Friday Q/A videos. Great reminder on volleys and breathing. We might be breathing, but vocalizing during the stroke helps me lose the tension and hit better. I utter something like a "Huh-h-h-h-h" or "Ha-a-a-a-a-a" sound rather than a "yes" sound, because it allows my mouth to relax more, stay open and let more air out. I often catch myself in silent mode and tell myself, "if you're not grunting, you're not breathing (enough)."
All your videos are excellent! Thanks so much for your work. Would you be willing to offer advice on hitting a running cross-court forehand? The weight transition into the shot, when essentially running away from the target, is still confusing to me. Thanks in advance!
Hello Coach Ryan! Here's one for a future Friday Q&A: Is there a way to make the wind your friend, instead of your enemy? On windy days I get especially frustrated with lobs (both hitting and receiving) and passing shots (hitting). A lot of times it turns into a downward mental spiral and I end up with bagels or breadsticks. Many thanks in advance! - Lyndon (Austin, TX)
Coach Ryan I really appreciate your teaching style especially on the volley. I have the advantage of learning to volley back in the 1970’s when there were lots of great volley players like Tony’s Roach, Rod Laver, Ken Rosewall, Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe to name a few. As a teaching pro and coach I always emphasize footwork on the volley. When you demonstrated your broom stick Also watched your feet. Also I am a big advocate of using the off hand on the racquet like you demonstrated. When hitting volleys it’s so important to flex your knees an get low so the racquet head is above the wrist like you demonstrate in this video. My slogan has been “ you got to do the drills to build the skills “ and “ practice the way you want to play “. 🎾🎾
you are a perfect Coach :) I have been laerning a alot of you. and you make things too easy and simple to understand so thanks from the heart :) must of my opponents hats me because of your good strategys hahaha.
Hey Ryan, any tips you can recommend for "earlier ball recognition"? Sometimes I find myself trying to scoop up a ball at my feet while standing on the baseline, after the point I think to myself about how I should have been a few steps further back but didn't "read" the ball in time to realize that during the point. Thanks and I enjoy your content. It has helped me improve my game, keep doing what you're doing!
@@2MinuteTennis you should not play against the GoPro everyone know the GoPro, is even better player than Nadal you should play against someone who is at the same level 😂😁👍
Question 🙋🏼♀️ How can you handle a net person with really good reach (tall, long arms, etc.) when you’re playing the baseline position? I struggle to get balls around a couple of girls I play with.
Hey Ryan, Friday is my favorite day on your channel :) I have a question. How would you illustrate the flow of a forehand in a detailed flowchart (what steps happen one after the other and what in parallel etc.)? The more detailed the better. I watch different videos and it's noticeable that each one contributes another (for me) important info.
Hi Ryan, last week I play a double match in which on service the non serving playerr of the other team, switch on the other side of the court(from right side to the left side), is possible to switch just before the player of the same team serve the ball? thanks
Good video but I have a question for next time. Why does it look like the pros are slicing their volley. Most coaches talk about short strokes and not long ones and chopping at the ball. But it looks like pros (especially on their backhand side) will look like they’re hitting a slice and coming across. Could you explain this? Are they thinking about slicing it? Is it something that naturally happens?
Hi Ryan, have you thought about doing a lifestream on court? People could ask a question in the comments, and you could directly demonstrate the solution right there. In any case, here is my question: Sometimes when I rally, I am taking a ball that is close to the baseline as a volley. I am able to get a surprising number of balls back into the field that way. My question is: do you recommend practicing those volleys, or do you rather recommend letting the ball bounce and taking it on the rise?
Thank you for the video and your channel in general! But do you really have to wear such ugly socks? It's quite irritating to look at and let you see like a shabby amateur, what you actually aren't.
I’ll continue to wear my socks. Sorry to bother you with world class information while wearing ugly socks. I’m sure I would LOVE every piece of clothing you wear.

Great advice! I'm diggin' the channel dude. I want a match!! Lol
Haha let’s go! But we’ll need to wait for warmer weather here near Philly!
How to give elevation to the ball which is low and fast? Usually a low fast ball ends up in the net and it is not easy to give elevation to it.
Can you make a video how to do and train a running/topspin lob?
What would be the path of the high volley and low volley? How would you use your off hand?
Diggin the new logo!
Can you play a match and record it and show how we can improve to that
Absolutely. Got a GoPro for Christmas so just waiting for the winter weather to improve. I’ll absolutely do that this spring. Thanks!!!

What about saving your grunt sound until right before your opponent hits the ball like Sonego? How does that help?

On the exhale question; don't think exhale, think blow, strongly blow out a puff of air.
So 👍
