It’s crazy, I always see videos of this in other states but you never think it can happen to you. Thankfully my house was not touched
Me and my wife were in the basement when all power was lost.
The basement window just to our left had been broken by a roofing company sometime before.
So we could hear what was going on outside clearly.
Specifically, we have four sets of wind chimes that cost around $1000 all totaled. With about a 25 mph wind they can be heard a block away.
My wife suddenly asked if I heard something.
I listened and realized that I in fact couldn't hear anything. Total silence.
Other than the freight train, that's the worst omen there is.
As the crow flies, our home was missed by maybe two blocks.
Lucky.
I was in bowling green that same day. It is really sad what happened to those affected
I live in Glasgow ky and the wind so was strong I couldn't imagine these other areas! Sad to see my state this way

A house whose first floor is underground and whose 2nd floor has no upright sides. But sides that sloped all the way to the ground. So that the wind would not blow against any vertical surface; but over them. Would be able to survive tornadoes.
I went today to go help and actually talked with the guy at 1:50
Things are bad over there and they can use as many prayers as they can get
So sad to hear this. 47yrs. ago we spentthe first night of our Honeymoon in Bowling Green,Ky. So sad to see the devastation this tornado did. Prayers and condolences to those who lost loved ones and those who had to endure this nightmare.

That damage looks more like an EF-4 or 5. God bless the victims and survivors.

I don't live in usa. I have a question are there bunkers? not all houses have? or this tragedy occurred at dawn and it came so fast that there was no time for the people to run into the bunkers
I live in Tennessee, it was very late in the night 2am. I live in an area where I wasn’t affected but people were still asleep when tornadoes came. And no we don’t just have bunkers for tornadoes that come with a house, we aren’t that rich. Most houses aren’t built with bunkers in them, though some older houses have basements.
Most homes in southern states don’t have what we call basements, underground bunkers, because water would just flood them.
So very bad!!!

This is very sad 😔 .This Tornadoes hitting harder and killing more people every year and then the question is why Americans don't build solid hauses with bricks and concrete ceiling like they build in Eastern Europe or Italy and Spain so this way hauses can resist to this kind of storm ??

My wife and I stayed off media just to rethink our journey of committing more to citizens in need. We live just north west and the wind was unbelievable 40 miles away from the path tracked. Mind blowing. 1974 we were hit in Louisville as 14 or so other states. The residual impact goes on forever it seems. On the other hand… words and wisdom degrees will come from this latest Friday into Saturday catastrophic event.

Looks like a high EF4 to low end EF5. This must have been a multi vortex tornado. Notice how there is a wide area of lighter damage but a few houses appear bulldozed at random? That was from a smaller vortex dancing around inside the bigger one.
They said it was a EF-3 tornado that hit bowling green
The reason is to build with very light and not solid materials such as wood, cork and plastic The solution is to build with cement and iron

I don't understand how the multimillion dollar radar weather systems that are able to measure wind speed and temperature can't give people ample warnings to prepare. What's the point of looking at colorful weather monitors if they can't save lives.
Everyone has the option of buying a NOAA weather alert radio. This happened well after midnight while people were asleep. The radio could have alerted them but what would they do then?
We had ample time. Everyone knew 16 hours in advance. Not everyone can just bail out though. I definitely will next time
Housing code needs to require a full 8 feet depth basements.

Lots of thoughts went through my mind. I always wonder what was going on spiritually - which is the strongest reality. We just don't see much of it yet. Also have to wonder what the consequences are of all the weather manipulation in last couple decades.
