Wow very nice video, I think you did a great job!👌🏻 I already knew most of the things you showcased, but I didn't know you could pool, save and load automation items, that's so cool!
Cool. This is just in time for me because I just recently started to utilize envelopes and automation in Reaper. I was using workarounds forever and finally reached a point where I had to break down and start learning how to automate stuff, especially plugins. I'm not sure why I keep wasting money on other DAWs, when I always just end up getting frustrated and going back to Reaper and they just end up collecting digital dust lol. Thanks I'm gonna save this as a reference.
@@EricJohnson-fh8zj really glad to hear this was helpful for you! Yeah, I feel like the more comfortable you get with Reaper less and less shiny the other DAW's seem
"I'm not sure why I keep wasting money on other DAWs, when I always just end up getting frustrated and going back to Reaper and they just end up collecting digital dust lol." same.
Thanks for this! I copied serval things for my toolbar! Just wanted to mention that you can bring up the automation items settings and find even more cool things you can do with them like making LFO's and crazy patterns that would otherwise take ages to do
yeah, I feel like the possibilities are endless! I opened up the options on automation items and figured I'd have to stop there; the rabbit hole got too deep XD If you have any cool tricks you've done with them pls share - I haven't messed with all of the automation items options myself
@aarrowaudio I never get the chance to geek out, thank you! You have covered most things, but the few things that I use on top are: - Using baseline and amplitude, especially with pooled items, gets you "there" faster in my eyes - Using the LFO-tool overall, there are just so many cool shapes you can make, I particularly like doing this in sections where modulation doesn't have to follow a note-value. And once again you can get results that would otherwise take ages to draw. Try the various ways of "tilting" all your values, it's so cool! The final action that I also like is : _S&M_CYCLACTION_23 Cyle automation item and points (yeah it is spelled wrong) Further, if you don't mind, I'd like to share some stuff related to automation that you might like: - 41181 Envelopes: Move selected points down a little bit - 41180 Envelopes: Move selected points up a little bit - A cycle action with these 2 (toggles selected points between 0, 50 and 100%: + _S&M_CYCLACTION_27 Toggle min/max evelope point + 40415 Envelope: Reset selected points to zero/center - 40726 Envelope: Insert 4 envelope points at time selection - 41142 FX: Show/hide track/take envelope for last touched FX parameter - 40334 Envelope: Invert selected points - Script: X-Raym_Add points on envelopes at regions.lua - Look into the "Automation: Write current values..." -actions, you might find some useful. I've had a few in my toolbar for ages but have not found them useful Hope you get something out of this!
@@elderozone I will definitely be adding some of these to my workflow, especially 'invert points' - that would already save me so much time on experimentation. There's just too much in Reaper to find on our own - always glad to hear & pick up some new tricks!
You can also activate looping in the automation item properties, they'll loop/repeat when you drag-expand them to the right, similar to looped audio/midi media items. Easier than duplicating them, if that's all you need. If the loop point is not right, just adjust the "cycle" size of the automation item until it's correct, and then glue it - the loop length is now fixed.
THANK YOU BROOOOOOO
Really nice, learned a lot.

Even when I reduce playback speed to 0.75 the video is unfortunately, not clear and I could not finish it.
