    You could save a ton of money if you used 1" black iron pipe. To hold the foam on you could use a washer and drill a hole for a pin to retain it. You could them use a 1" black iron end cap to lock it onto the rack.

    I made these recently using the same process. My rack uses 5/8 hardware. It’s not as strong 1 inch hardware but I have had zero issues. I mostly use them for Nordic curls. I love them.

    The very fact that you provide links to all of the items used to build your accessories is GOLD! I really appreciate it. Although I use an angle grinder like a maestro, I'm going down to Harbor Freight to buy a cheap chop saw just to have around. Thank you. 💯💯💯

    Kyle!!!! Amazing build man! The 1" pads look and seem to function perfectly. I am excited to see how the pads hold up with time. As for the 5/8"...the lack of support offered by threaded rod/pins is a large driver of me switching to a 1" rack. Awesome video!

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  3 года назад

      Thanks Kurt! Yeah the pads feel great. I’ve never purchased leg rollers from anyone so I have no basis for comparison, but these feel super solid. I’ll follow up with you in 6 months and 1 year to let you know how they’re doing.
      I’m with you, I think 1” is king. If I wasn’t making content with it, I would have passed on the 2x3 rack with 5/8” holes.

    I've also found a plate storage holder with added foam works effectively. Tip - use a foam plyo box to lay on for nordic curls. Save you $600 from buying an actual nordic from Rogue.

    I made these a couple years ago for way less money by purchasing a piece of 1" round steel bar from my local steel supplier and drilling a hole through the end for a hitch pin to secure it. Then I used a pipe clamp to hold the foam onto the other end. Total cost for 2 of them was $75.

    For the 5/8 holed racks you could just use the pin pipes safeties with padding on them, you just need to use them in the rack for it to work.

    This looks a great build. Very useful. Do you think this could be done with black iron pipe cheaper? (malleable iron)

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  3 года назад

      I’ll have to do a little more research on that. The .75” black pipe I currently have has an outside diameter just over an inch, so it doesn’t fit in the holes on my rack. The .5” fits loosely. I’ll keep digging and see if I can find anything that works.

    I was actually a little surprised that the 5/8" didn't work, but I'm glad you took the high road and pointed out that it was a non-starter. I guess the sheer length of the threaded rod subjects it to too much torque.

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  3 года назад +2

    Great build! Do you think using a series of 1 inch pipe nipples would accomplish something similar? I'm thinking a 12 inch nipple with an end cap for the foam roller section itself, with a connector acting as the inside washer/nut to hold the foam in place, and then another nipple the length of my rack's upright with another end cap?

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  3 года назад +1

      I tried but the outside diameter of the .75” pipe nipples was too big for the 1” holes on my rack.

    This is exactly ruclips.net/user/postUgkxUHHotQRjIQnfuxEeVotlkHVYWH0DXZoS what I needed to get some exercise while I'm stuck at my desk all day. It's just the right size. Only downsides are that the right oeddale unscrews itself while I use it and increasing the tension causes it to squeak while in use. Both are minor issues that aren't that important to me. So I give it 5 stars.

    I bought the strengh stray dog goat and a 1" leg roller and a 5/8" foam roller from rogue to use rhe goat for leg curls the 5/8" rogue roller won't go into the home I need it to go do to the way it attaches like a j cup and it gets in the way with goat:( i just need the 5/8" roller to put it under leg for support when doing leg curls. Do you think it will bend or will it be better to make the 5/8" hole to a 1" hole and just buy another 1" leg roller ??
