Went to do a roof job (stone slabs) even with roof ladders couldn't get on that roof . but yes the 70's had a lot of problems but the music was great and life was simpler.
Our local corner shop ran out of Coke , ice lollies and ice creams , it was boiling , local outdoor swimming pools were chock a block , what a fantastic summer .
Everyone was lucky in london in 70" s / we had everything gorgeous girls , top night clubs and safe streets to walk after midnight and plenty of jobs ❤😂

I started work in 1974 and got married in 1979 (aged 21). The majority of people were happy with their lot and whilst there were those that made a lot more money than others, communities still looked after each other. That all changed when Maggie decided to fight the unions in the 80’s and brought down the pits. Life was never the same after that.
Loved it. Left school in 1970 at 15. There was work and we had fun. OK I'll admit I was involved on the football terraces (Man United) but we had mates and freedom, most jobs were Mon-Fri, so weekends were ours. Wouldn't like to be a kid today.

Despite all the Tory media propaganda regarding the 1970s those that lived it knows what a great time it was for most people..I left school without qualifications and you could walk in to a different job every week. Jobs could be had with the railways, the police, the fire brigade, the Post office, loads of decent unionised public sector jobs. I had my own Victorian conversion council flat in the middle of Islington (for £22 per week) at 19 years of age having just got married. Most of my mates were married by their early 20s and none thought they might not get their own place and afford a family. I had a great car and was in the pub at least 3 nights a week and never worked more than 40 hours.
The 70s when music was great - people were better looking - and people had a backbone instead of being 'offended' by anything they disagree with ----- and before the traytorrs began the attacks on our culture

Was there for Queen’s silver Jubilee in 1977 and still have the school photo from that year with that message on the frame. Also was there for the ‘82 royal wedding. Also remember getting the evil knival toy for my birthday from Argos catalog store in Croydon

I am constantly stunned by how chubby most young women are these days. And I don't remember any of us having tattoos - it was considered unladylike!
When you left school in the seventies u could get a job right away got a decent rise in your pay every year got council house no problem doctors dentist hospeital appointment no botherand great music 😅 cheap food and a pint happy days

There are some great pictures but, once again, some major errors. Punk was 1976-77. Platform boots were 1973 not 1971.
