I don't know what a pediatrician would say but it is washing machine washable. I would not leave it in the crib with the baby though.

These controls are impractical. Why would anyone keep opening and closing the otter just to change the features? So inconvenient.
Agree! And the velcro is so noisy it always startles the baby instead of soothing...
I think it’s so the baby doesn’t press any buttons while they are asleep….
