I don’t fully agree, Dr. Betters. For us, it comes down to the Biblically supported principle of trusting in Gods sovereignty over our lives fully and completely. In Scripture, God shows us his sovereignty over the womb, when it says “God opened her womb...” (Gen. 29:31, Gen. 30:22) or “God closed her womb...”. (I Sam. 1:6) Also, Jesus Himself told us to “Let the little children come to Me...”. He loves children. He called them a gift and a reward. Why would we selfishly reject a gift? Why would we not want a reward? We came to the conclusion in our marriage, that every reason to use birth control was rooted in selfishness and not trusting in Gods sovereignty in our life. We have been married for 31 years. God has graciously blessed us with only 8 children. And we are so grateful and have never regretted trusting in Him to open or close my womb, according to HIS plan for our life. I encourage you all to fully trust HIM- and not to “lean on your OWN understanding. “
