Fun fact: The guy who plays the “most disturbing person you’ve ever seen” in Critters 2, is Eddie Deezen. Most known for playing the Know-It-All Kid from The Polar Express and Mandark from Dexter’s Laboratory! You can even hear it in his voice!
I think what makes Ug and Lee so hilarious is that, even though they are shapeshifters, they make absolutely no attempt at actual stealth or subterfuge. Not only do they go around still dressed in what looks like eveningwear for Klingons and carry guns the size of vacuum cleaners, their only strategy is to carelessly barge into random areas, demand to know where their target is, and then blow up the place if someone doesn't answer in three seconds. They're not even worried if people find out they're aliens. Also, I'm surprised you didnt mention the ever-so-catchy jingle for The Hungry Heifer!
Literally this..makes me wonder if their species doesn't shapeshift for stealth but just purely for fun! Or if these 2 are just the idiots (knuckle brained, brawn over brain) of their species lol

One think that makes it slightly nicer to think is that Tetra or whatever-their-name-is isn't Ug, it's just another dude who took Ug's latest face, just to talk to the humans, considering that their species don't normally have faces
Another thing I love about this movie is the noises that the critters make and how they sort of have their own language we get glimpses of. Plus, their noises and voices are done by COREY BURTON! A.K.A Captain Hook from Peter Pan, Braniac from the Son of Krypon movie and freaking SHOCKWAVE from the original transformers. Mans got a long list of credits, and I just love that Critters is one of them.
I just got to say -- your critters arc has filled me with an incredible amount of joy. It is always amazing to see more people enjoying shitty 80s-90s horror movies; horror-comedy is something I love to consume, there is a charm in them that you can’t find in a lot of recent movies. I also thought the father was Bruce Campbell, and I thought Johnny Steele was Tim Curry, lmao. Edit: as a fun fact, in the spanish dub they give voices to the critters instead of their usual critter gibberish noises and it makes it even more funny because they sound like people who inhaled helium. This video feels like a warm blanket in a cold day. Thanks, Pastra!
I'm sure someone else has mentioned it before I did, but Clue (the Movie) actually had 3 has different endings, similar to the ones mentioned it Critters. It's three endings are an homage to the game's ability to have different endings, and in each ending there's a different explanation for who did it, how they did it, and why they did it. It's a super fun movie.
Not to mention each movie theater had 3 different copies of the movies with the different endings, and they played a different ending at each showing. This means you could not talk about the ending with friends, because they probably saw a different one.
Clue (the movie) is my family’s favorite movie to watch when we have no idea what to actually watch. It’s so silly and so entertaining. The explanations of the endings come out of nowhere and there was no way any member of any audience would figure it out because there are SO MANY CHARACTERS TO KEEP TRACK OF, but it’s sooooooo gooooooooood!

You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for people to realize the glory of this series!! This series inspired me at the age of 5 to watch as many 80’s creature features as I could find on 2009 RUclips. Such gems as ghoulies, gremlins, munchies, the thing, the fly, slugs, all of it! Your channel along with your comprehension and subsequent appreciation of horror means worlds to me, to know there are others out there who are truly well versed and inspired by the macabre. To you my friend I say, BRAVO!!! Stay spooky good sir 🤙
Oh pastra you really are one of my favorite content creators. There’s no better feeling than listening to you gush about horror fiction you love while also providing deep analyses of them. It’s so refreshing to hear positive video essays with the only criticisms being very reasonable. I wish more people would just go into deep dives on things they love like this.
I haven't watched more than maybe 2 minutes of this video yet, but I can't express how EXCITED I got when I saw the thumbnail and title!!! I was absolutely OBSESSED with the Critters franchise for a while a couple years ago, and I still hold the franchise with such a high regard, I even still consider the first movie to be an absolute favorite horror movie of mine, if not my favorite. I always get so excited and happy when people talk about Critters, especially when it's another fan of it! I went down my own rabbit hole with this franchise, so I'm very excited to see what you have to say about it!
I VERY MUCH enjoyed your video on the franchise!! We share very similar experiences with it, it seems. I have seen Attack and A New Binge, I'm curious about your feelings on them. There is a Critters community, and when those two first came out, people were quite torn. I enjoyed them despite certain ASPECTS (looking at New Binge in particular)
Oh. My. God. I completely understand you about being obsessed with bottom of the barrel stuff. I have a recent obsession with an old translation of donald duck's alter ego comics. The series was in italian and made in the 90s but was later translated in a couple of languages and sold there. It was translated and sold in my coutry (greece) in 2017. Its so well written and dramatic I'm actually in shock. It might be a parody of something that is already existing, but I only know about the comics so whatever, I can enjoy them no matter what. The general Disney comics, and especially this series stopped being made and sold in around late 2018- early 20-19 or so. There are around a hundred episodes in the form of comics, and I only have four. I have no idea how to get any more and absolutely no one knows about it. I can't even read them through the internet, the site that had at least some of them copied got taken down in December 2020. If I could turn back time, I would have bought/collected every single copy when they were still sold and gathered them religiously.
I grew up watching critters with my family so hearing that it's not nearly as well known as I thought it was is so hilarious to me, because these movies used to give poor child me nightmares for DAYS. I'll consider this video my therapy for all those childhood nightmares lmao
I saw these movies on TV decades ago and I'm glad they're getting the recognition they deserve. I fully agree the first two are amazing and that scene of the Critter-ball leaving a red skeleton behind has lived rent free in my mind for almost 30 years by now. I legitimately had no idea there was a series, so I'm stoked for part 2!
Hearing your summary of these movies and all the little details you learned or noticed was so fun. And I love the clip of the critters trying to climb the stairs It was also fun occasionally hearing everyone else reacting
Critters 4 should have been about Charlie willingly getting launched into space to find and confront Ug with Ug's downward spiral being a result of losing Lee. Charlie causes enough of a ruckus that the eggs have time to hatch and he has to work with Ug again to catch them, with Charlie trying to do his job and kill them and Ug trying to Catch them for his boss. Maybe even kill Ug at the end, have the situation get bad enough that he sacrifices himself to save Charlie, choosing his old friend over the job he'd taken to distract himself from Lee's absence.
Pastra, I want to make you aware of a stream idea, there exists a game for the PS2 called the Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogies Revenge. I think it would be really fun to see you play it with maybe some friends.
Thanks for suffering through the entire ridiculous franchise to give us this video Pastra. I found it really funni- Also just wanted to ask do you think you’ll ever do a video on the horror of Subnautica? I feel like that game’s horror needs more discussion.
I grew up with these movies, so it is giving me pure joy to hear you talk so excitedly about them. I love that you and your friends are watching them - it's really how many of these 80's horror movies are meant to be watched! Keep doing what you are doing!
Honestly, I would really enjoy just watching Pastra and his friends marathon weird movies and make silly comments about them. I’ve never seen these movies before, but based on the descriptions, it seems like of like the fnaf timeline. (I apologize for bringing up that dumpster fire) It started off decent enough, with the story having a nice end wrapped in a bow, but then they kept adding more to it just because and messed it all up. Also I love how Lankmann and Pastra’s relationship went from flat out enemies to silly roommates. Just felt like sharing that.
The two Critters biting apart the pillow is adorable and goofy to me because my family recently got an extremely chaotic puppy who would try ripping mattresses to get the stuffing.
I love how the title cards for each of the first 3 movies are really spooky and dramatic and then there's this goofy ass music playing over comic sans for the fourth
Critters 5: Lankmann in Space! All jokes aside amazing video. And on top of that its fun to hear your friends watch it with you. All around great video and I hope you and Lankmann enjoy the TV show
Love these little movie night videos you’ve been doing. It’s super fun and wholesome to see a bunch of pals just having a good time and I hope that after Critters pt. 2 that you plan on making more of these movie stuff. They’re the best!
I grew up with my Grandfather and his movie collection consisted of A LOT of horror B-films, Critters was one of my favorite films when I was little and I have not seen it in roughly 15 years. Thank you for reintroducing this series to my life 😂
yaaay new pastra vid! preaching to the choir about weird interests. villains code by drew hayes is my favorite series literally ever. nobody knows about it.
The day does not just get better when Pastra uploads, but spookier. I will definitely have to watch these movies, because really bad movies don't make someone this happy about them.
This level of loving a franchise that nobody has heard of is me with any PM media. (If you know, you know.) There's something really special about loving media that nobody really knows about. It's like finding a hidden artifact and getting to crack all it's secrets before anyone else can. I think that that curious secret-seeking, and eventual "I loved it first" attitude, is instinctual in humans.
Lankman is the one person who gives you freaky vibes at first, but in reality and once you get to know him, he’s a chill dude who just wants to have a good time and relax with people he loves.
I remember watching a bunch of the critters movies/mini series off of a streaming service named Shutter.(I think) Shutter was a collection of horror films, some good, some bad, but I remember my dad watching alot of the critters there.
I just had an insanely good idea for a critter 3 and maybe 4 than what we got. Imagine it cuts back to the original prison the critters were in, where one, one high threat level critter is held who then hears the news that Lee died in critters 2. This single boss critter then breaks out of prison with an army of regular critters knowing he can finally kill Ug without Lee there to have his back. It can then later be revealed in the movie that this boss critter only ever got locked up because of the 2 bounty hunters and it knew it stood no chance when there was 2 of them. Ug could go back to earth after hearing the news to get Charlie, who would then fully replace Lee's old role in the group and help Ug take down the mastermind critter. It doesn't really involve any normal human stuff but I think this would have been a better critters 3 overall.
Another and more expansive example of movies with alternate endings depending on where you watch them is the film adaptation of the Board Game of Clue!
If you love diving into wacky, crazy horror franchises with creative monster designs that originated in the 80s and have like 20 sequels, I think you would LOVE the Puppet Master series Some puppet designs include: - a robot dressed like a WWI soldier with bullets for teeth and a flamethrower for a hand - a jester who rotates 3 portions of his face to change his expression - a six-armed cowboy wielding six six shooter guns named Six Shooter - a “sexy lady” puppet who kills people by releasing leaches from her mouth - a bald dude with a drill on top of his head - a nazi werewolf - a puppet ninja - a grinning skeleton surgeon It’s some crazy shit. Also Greg Sestero (Mark from Tommy Wisseau’s The Room) was in one of the movies
CRITTERS, HELL YES! Back around when I was in elementary school, my parents sometimes took me to a local place that rented out movies! It was basically just a tiny little strip mall Blockbuster, I think, though those were kinda already on the way out by my time! Regardless, at this place, I'd soon find one zone particularly enthralling: At first, the horror isle, & when that was moved to its own room, the horror room! I'd already seen scary internet contents, for instance a freaky gif of a mouth faced man, so I was quite resistant as well as fascinated with horrors, so some of my particular favorites came from the horror sections! Among them are classics such as the Alien series, It, Killer Klowns from Outer Space, plenty others, & of course, these Critters! Luv these silly little guys!
You know, If I had a nickel for every time a Horror youtuber I follow talked about this series in the past 6 months. I'd have 2 nickels, Which isn't a lot, But it's weird that it's happened twice.
the opening line hits hard. hi im sal im obsessed with a mario horror fangame so aggressively that i have possibly influenced a small handful of events within and around the fandom.
If you've never heard fo Critters, then there's a pretty good chance you're too young to remember video rental stores. Those movies were staples on shelves everywhere. Actually, a lot of horror moves owe any kind of public consciousness to box art on rental shelves. Wait, how many movies have just disappeared into obscurity since the fall of rental stores?
Speaking of different film endings, probably one of the most famous ones is the real ending of Little Shop of Horrors, which was deemed too depressing for general audiences and thus was replaced with a stock happy ending instead. The later releases restored the original ending On that note, if you have never seem Little Shop of Horrors, you absolutely have to. It seems right down your alley
I dont have a passion for any very unknown games but I do for some games that are now old and not talked about enough. Halo 3 is my favourite game of all time and in my opinion its not talked about much anymore. I still have a massive passion for it since i got the game on christmas 2019. Great game
Have you heard of this horror movie called "Killer Klowns from Outer Space"? the Chiodo Brothers, the guys who did the practical puppets for Critters made KKFOS, and its possibly my favorite horror movie of all time.
Critters 2 is ultrasonically one of my favourite movies. Especially because of the German version, which was some magnitudes goofier than original version. In the German Version the Critters were actually dubbed instead of only getting subtitles, they even broke the 4th wall a couple of times. The dialogue of the humans also has a typically German 80s flair, with having some of the best German voice actors at that time.
They survived by turning into the critter ball before the first explosion went off which saved them. But they weren’t in a more defensive ball motion for the 2nd one so they died.
That is so interesting when movies do that with the multiple endings depending where or how you watched it! Clue did something similar when it was in theaters and I think there were either three or four different endings. One theater would show one ending while another would show a different one leaving its audience confused when they'd discuss it with other people who had seen it somewhere else. MMM! I miss that movie magic.
10:24 That scene was actually pretty cool. Usually, when the character eats a bomb they open their mouth with puff of smoke for comedic effect. But no, This THING looks the kid dead in the eyes, eats the bomb, then without even opening his mouth nonchalantly let the smoke escape from the gaps in his teeth like he just took a drag from a ciggerate.
This video is SO entertaining!!!🤣 I LOVE everything you make and you not being bothered to put the regular font for Critters 4 had me DYING!!! You are such an inspirational content creator and I can't wait for your next upload. We are always here for your obscure horror shenanigans (I absolutely love these vids) Keep it up!!!!!
Lankmann being IMMEDIATELY proven wrong anytime he attempts to bring logic into a situation is my new favorite running gag.

I immediately recognized his voice-- turns out I knew him for being Gibby Norton in What's New, Scooby-Doo
As soon as I heard the line “kill more krites” I thought, “IS THAT FUCKIN MANDARK?!”

Hearing your summary of these movies and all the little details you learned or noticed was so fun. And I love the clip of the critters trying to climb the stairs
It was also fun occasionally hearing everyone else reacting
I like how pastra says the most horrifying human in critters 2 is the voice actor for the nerd in polar express
Maybe even kill Ug at the end, have the situation get bad enough that he sacrifices himself to save Charlie, choosing his old friend over the job he'd taken to distract himself from Lee's absence.
the "They Have Weapons" bit SENT ME
Love it when you upload in the evening (for me). Love to watch your videos when its the prime ''be-scared'' time.
I found it really funni-
Also just wanted to ask do you think you’ll ever do a video on the horror of Subnautica?
Comic sans is crazy 😂😂😂
Critters 5: Lankmann in Space! All jokes aside amazing video. And on top of that its fun to hear your friends watch it with you. All around great video and I hope you and Lankmann enjoy the TV show
I just love the way he rises out of the floor like a Danny Phantom Villain! Pastra unintentionally makes me laugh sometimes.
I like how he praises the first 3 films by even giving them fancy fonts but just puts 4 in Comic Sans font
You just unlocked a memory I didn't know I had, this oughta be good
You know how bad Critters 4 is when the title card for it by Pastra is in *COMIC SANS* ...
Love these little movie night videos you’ve been doing. It’s super fun and wholesome to see a bunch of pals just having a good time and I hope that after Critters pt. 2 that you plan on making more of these movie stuff. They’re the best!
I cant believe nobody has recognized that the actress in critters 4 is the amazing Angela basset most recently known as the queen of Wakanda
I'm glad I'm not the only person who loves this series thank you funny pasta man
I grew up with my Grandfather and his movie collection consisted of A LOT of horror B-films, Critters was one of my favorite films when I was little and I have not seen it in roughly 15 years. Thank you for reintroducing this series to my life 😂
yaaay new pastra vid! preaching to the choir about weird interests. villains code by drew hayes is my favorite series literally ever. nobody knows about it.
Man why is your horror stuff just SO entertaining to watch??
Leo was in the Wolf of Wall Street when he got older but it’s funny to know his first starring role was working with wolves from hell street-
The day does not just get better when Pastra uploads, but spookier. I will definitely have to watch these movies, because really bad movies don't make someone this happy about them.
I never thought I would be this interested in a movie about goofy aliens from the 80's
This level of loving a franchise that nobody has heard of is me with any PM media. (If you know, you know.)
There's something really special about loving media that nobody really knows about.
It's like finding a hidden artifact and getting to crack all it's secrets before anyone else can. I think that that curious secret-seeking, and eventual "I loved it first" attitude, is instinctual in humans.
The perfect treat for spooky season.
Lankman is the one person who gives you freaky vibes at first, but in reality and once you get to know him, he’s a chill dude who just wants to have a good time and relax with people he loves.
55 MINUTE PASTRA VIDEO POG i vaguely remember these movies they're such fucking fever dreams
I remember watching a bunch of the critters movies/mini series off of a streaming service named Shutter.(I think) Shutter was a collection of horror films, some good, some bad, but I remember my dad watching alot of the critters there.
Critters 3:is like an extended episode of "Tales from the darkside".
Thank you pastra for the long form content!!
Another and more expansive example of movies with alternate endings depending on where you watch them is the film adaptation of the Board Game of Clue!
skipped my uni's lectures, had mc donalds breakfast, and pastra uploaded today. I'm pleased.
I love the fact that the subtitles used so many e’s for the cheeeeeeseburgers joke
Critters seems like a very fun series after seeing this video. Gonna watch it in the future!!
If you love diving into wacky, crazy horror franchises with creative monster designs that originated in the 80s and have like 20 sequels, I think you would LOVE the Puppet Master series
Some puppet designs include:
- a robot dressed like a WWI soldier with bullets for teeth and a flamethrower for a hand
- a jester who rotates 3 portions of his face to change his expression
- a six-armed cowboy wielding six six shooter guns named Six Shooter
- a “sexy lady” puppet who kills people by releasing leaches from her mouth
- a bald dude with a drill on top of his head
- a nazi werewolf
- a puppet ninja
- a grinning skeleton surgeon
It’s some crazy shit.
I don't think I've seen a critters movie in over 25 years, but I *still* get the hungry heifers song stuck in my head...
You know, If I had a nickel for every time a Horror youtuber I follow talked about this series in the past 6 months. I'd have 2 nickels, Which isn't a lot, But it's weird that it's happened twice.
Actually, Now that I think about it, I think that Pastra and Zoran would be great friends.
it a good day when Pastra uploads
I love the ps3 puppeteer game! It’s fun, hilarious but pretty dark at times especially with the main antagonist the moon bear king!
the opening line hits hard. hi im sal im obsessed with a mario horror fangame so aggressively that i have possibly influenced a small handful of events within and around the fandom.
Hey, congrats on Wendigoon giving you a shoutout during his livestream last night!
I'd love to see a video like this about the Leprechaun movies. There's quite a lot you could say about those.
The later releases restored the original ending
On that note, if you have never seem Little Shop of Horrors, you absolutely have to. It seems right down your alley
I dont have a passion for any very unknown games but I do for some games that are now old and not talked about enough. Halo 3 is my favourite game of all time and in my opinion its not talked about much anymore. I still have a massive passion for it since i got the game on christmas 2019. Great game
I just find it funny, that I watch this at my work break and no one bats an eye. Great vid and very extreme movies, might watch them with a friend.
i like to imagine lankman at the end kicking the door open and then entering the room with popcorn and a critter plushie and t-shirt
Have you heard of this horror movie called "Killer Klowns from Outer Space"? the Chiodo Brothers, the guys who did the practical puppets for Critters made KKFOS, and its possibly my favorite horror movie of all time.
Pastra did mention it in the video
Critters 2 is ultrasonically one of my favourite movies.
Especially because of the German version, which was some magnitudes goofier than original version.
In the German Version the Critters were actually dubbed instead of only getting subtitles, they even broke the 4th wall a couple of times. The dialogue of the humans also has a typically German 80s flair, with having some of the best German voice actors at that time.
Critters isn’t a bit ???? It’s a real franchise ??!
Lankmann's bit literally brought a tear to my eye. It was the saddest anime betrayal in Pastra history.
