The Class 465/466 have a high acceleration and lower top speed of 75 bc it was designed for stop start running rather than fast/semi-fast services. For semi-fast/fast services there is some thing on Earth, called the Class 375.
Welcome back, Peter; you have been missed. A very interesting and entertaining video. A small point in case you do the route again, I grew up in this area and I think that Meopham is pronounced Mepam as if the O and H were not there. Also, the complex junction where the Chatham main line goes under the Charing Cross to Tonbridge line is called Chislehurst Junction. There are several bridges that made a great trainspotting place for a train mad boy with views of multiple lines.
Thanks, Roger! I've been so busy it's been difficult to find the time to work on the channel. But I'm certainly back and uploading again. I'm glad to know you enjoyed this video. :) Indeed, I certainly did pronounce Meopham wrong as I'm now aware, so won't be making that mistake again in the future. Thanks for the extra info!
Signal knowledge wise - you naturally learn the locations of signals in complex areas (because you're often held at those signals). Otherwise you drive defensively to the aspects so won't necessarily know the exact locations of signals that are usually green. There's also no need to learn the signal numbers themselves - those are displayed prominently on the signal plates themselves, together with the identifier of the box controlling them. Signals in the Rochester area are "NK" - pronounced phonetically as "November Kilo", meaning "north Kent", controlled from the NK panel at Ashford ROC.
PTGRail No worries at all. Im a current driver so info is from my rules course (what I can remember of it!) and experience of driving. My previous comment was wrong in one respect, apologies, Ashford is an IECC (integrated electronic control centre) rather than a ROC.
I do believe Bat and Ball station was named after a pub in that area. But why the pub was named that, I don't know. Before Bat and Ball station there is a spur that leads to Maidstone and Ashford.
Train drivers don`t need to learn where the signals are as they pick them up as they go along plus signals normally have ID number plates. They only need to know what the signal is for and the speed limit for that section of track.
A more accurate scenario would be heading to Charing X rather than Victoria, as services departing from Gillingham P1 terminate at the former when services are running as normal. If a service was heading to London Vic, it would start at P2 as that platform serves trains for Victoria & S.t Pancras Int'l, and not Charing X. But I'm sounding OCD here, so I'll presume that Charing X services are diverted to Victoria due to engineering works.
6:27 - the platform at gilligham takes FOREVER to leave i went on it once and it took bout half an hour to leave XD and the other to lines arent as long :p trust me i know as i live in gillingham
Train Drivers do need to know the location of the signals but don't really need to know each individual signal number. As you said there are signal plates to identify the type of signal and which signal box controls or is responsible for the signal.
You inspired me to learn some routes by myself! This was one of them i learned (not exatcly this scenario), and while driving the train i watched the real world map, and i saw all these rail junctions, and i was following them from where they come, but i wasnt able to find all those routes you were mentioning in this video... Is there some secret "easy" way, to see what route are the particiural rail goining? Great vid, as always...
That's cool! I'm glad that I've inspired you to learn some routes for yourself. In this case, it's just more my knowledge of the area which helps me to know where the different routes are going.
I think (not certain) that train drivers don't need to remember signal names/codes as the names/codes are always on the signal with a phone to the signalmen
Nice video Pete! Maybe You should do some trainspotting again or do some freight on thé GEML. I apolozise if I made mistakes, I'm French :/ Thanks for making me enjoy train driving simulation anyway :D
Thanks! I will consider another 'trains at speed' video at some point soon. I am also considering doing another UK freight video as it's been quite some time since my last one! Your English is very good. And my pleasure, I'm glad to help :)
HI PTG, it's been awhile since you've uploaded an American route learning video, how about a return to the Feather River Canyon? You did mention that you wanted to upload all three parts of the first drive-through eventually, and I couldn't think of a more beautiful route to drive on in America XD. Anyway, just something to consider, the choice is obviously yours to make.
I certainly do plan on doing that in the future, though it will be a while before I get around to that route again. It was so slow to drive it was difficult to motivate myself - plus the first part didn't prove all that popular. Still, I will get around to completing that run at some point. In the mean time, I have started work on learning the route to make a video on the Amtrak Empire Builder between Shelby and Whitefish along the Marias Pass - a long journey which will take a lot of work to drive without the HUD!
South Eastern Trains sound weird. Also has Train Simulator released a return journey from Barnstaple to Exmouth or a Leeds to Skipton/Morecambe or Carlisle route?
I'm not being picky but I'm from this area and I know for fact that this service usually begins in Rainham too, why didn't you want to do it from there?
Some feedback: Brill video! But let the audience hear the motors at the begining, and talk after the first one if you get what I mean? After a little while of engine, then talk? :)
I do indeed get what you mean, as it's great to hear the motors on these units. But I try not to wait too long before speaking so I can introduce the next section of the journey as quickly as I can.
+PTGRail Hi, i've been trying to drive the train without any help like you, but i have one minor issue, i never know the time as i cant find any in cab times on the 375/377 and the 465? Thanks if you can help!
Rochester bridge does indeed cross the river Medway. The dockyard attached to Chatham was on that river. FYI Meopham is pronounced more like 'Mepham'.
The Class 465/466 have a high acceleration and lower top speed of 75 bc it was designed for stop start running rather than fast/semi-fast services. For semi-fast/fast services there is some thing on Earth, called the Class 375.
Nice Job! I'm Beginning to like these British Rail Videos.
Thanks! There's plenty more to come :)
Yet another excellent route guide. I've missed them for the past few weeks - good to have you back!
Thanks, Chris! Glad you enjoyed this video. There's more coming very soon :)
Everytime you make a stop in these videos I have to fight the urge to press the "T"-key on my keyboard. :D
Nice job, Pete. Glad to see you are back in the producing mode again.
Thanks! I certainly am, with another video or two coming up today :)
2 videos in one day you are spoiling us Peter both videos are first class as always looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Tony, I hope you enjoyed both videos! :)
Double upload very cheeky :D
QwertyAfro I nearly died when I had two notifications 😂
Is this the real Querty Afro if it is can you do some more omsi 2 videos please??
I needed to catch up a bit on months of missed videos! I've got more coming today :)
PTGRail nice😀
PTGRail your videos inspired me to make videos of train simulator go on my channel to see them

Amazing video! Your work is really well done and a big inspiration.
Thank you, Anne, I really appreciate it! :)
Bat and ball was named after a pu and was the Sevenoaks station for the LCDR.
i love the sound of these trains, they remind me of old v10 formula 1 cars :)

Thanks for all of the info, that was very helpful. Where did you get all the info from? :)

Who says route learning is time consuming, PTG on a roll ;) another great video:)
I do believe Bat and Ball station was named after a pub in that area. But why the pub was named that, I don't know. Before Bat and Ball station there is a spur that leads to Maidstone and Ashford.
very interesting video! I can't wait for the swiss one!
Thank you. I'm hoping to cover the Swiss route in the next couple of weeks or so.
Bat and Ball Station is not named after a town, but after a pub on the outskirts of Sevenoaks
Thanks for the info :)
#accurate apart from lacking GSMR radio and current Networker PIS/communication system which has only one handset.
Great video - cab view is very accurate - although you should note that meopham is pronounced "mep-ham" rather than "mope-ham"!!!
I think they run far too many trains in that short distance , Hence Yellow and Red aspects ! Nice video
They sure do! Most routes around London suffer from quite severe congestion problems.
2 uploads in 1 day what's that about LOL!! Seriously though love your vids keep em coming and thanks again
Great video. It looks like the Class 166 which I drove recently.
Indeed, it's part of the same family of trains :)
I bought today this DLC at 60% Off, so my friend your video help me as tutorial.
Thanks for your great work.-
i love your videos
Another great video,thank you.

11:43 very cool
Did someone say 2 route learning videos in a day!!!
Haha, I had some unexpected free time on my hands so made the most of it. There should be quite a few more videos in the coming weeks :)
Your Vauxhall Bridge is actually Grosvenor Bridge. Vauxhall Bridge is a road bridge.
I think (not certain) that train drivers don't need to remember signal names/codes as the names/codes are always on the signal with a phone to the signalmen
There's a phonetic alphabet they have with them, and the networkers have them printed in the cab. How else would they remember lol.
You said meopham wrong.
Couldn't stop laughing
I know, it's been pointed out to me many times :p
hi great video.
Thanks :)
nice video 😀 first to like

PTGRail Thanks for answering :D
Nice work. Any chance of a Carlisle to Newcastle and a Carlisle to barrow if possible I'd love to watch those
Unfortunately those routes aren't currently simulated in Train Simulator, but I will certainly make videos on them if they are produced :)
I live in the Chatham Main Line area

Who noticed that the Class 375 in this have the monitors that 377s have
Nah bro!! next thing u gonna tell me is that HST stands for “High Speed Train”!
Ikr I laugh at Bat And Ball XD
Sorry to have to correct you, but as a local I can tell you the Meopham station's name is pronounced as MEPHAM
Jerry Ralph I live on the Chatham Main Line area too
South Eastern Trains sound weird. Also has Train Simulator released a return journey from Barnstaple to Exmouth or a Leeds to Skipton/Morecambe or Carlisle route?
Meopham is pronounced "MEPHAM" by locals!
but he is isnt a local so he dosent know that
It's also pronounced like that in the onboard announcement system.
Its announced Mep - ham... by everyone!
I like it
I'm not being picky but I'm from this area and I know for fact that this service usually begins in Rainham too, why didn't you want to do it from there?
When will u upload ever again?
Hello make video with training mixing with white and blue
Some feedback: Brill video! But let the audience hear the motors at the begining, and talk after the first one if you get what I mean? After a little while of engine, then talk? :)
I do indeed get what you mean, as it's great to hear the motors on these units. But I try not to wait too long before speaking so I can introduce the next section of the journey as quickly as I can.
PTGRail Ah okay! Have a nice day! :)
Could you do the class 360 Colchester town - London Liverpool Street route on the GEML?
I will consider it :)
Have you thought of being train driver in the UK?
what other route learning videos r u going to be doing.
You'll just have to wait and see ;)
Did you create this scenario yourself? If so, will you upload it to the Workshop on Steam?
Is the class 375 that fast when leaving
Was there a station called Denmark Hill? Where is that?. I'm from Denmark
Denmark Hill station is in London, on the South London Line.
Hiya what pc and spec to run this 👍 I am looking at admi gtx 1060 gaming pc with 1060 graffix card 3gig ? Cheers
One tiny thing; Meopham is pronounced "MEPAM". Annoyingly spelling I know
Thanks, I wasn't sure so just guessed how I thought it should sound. Incorrectly it seems. :p
PTGRail you're not the first and certainly won't be the last. At least you pronounced Gillingham correctly :D
and wrongly, depending if you live in Kent and (I think) Dorset
I think the Dorset version is pronounced Jillingham. The Kent version is Gillingham though, I grew up near there unfortuantly
thats exactly it
when is your next video comeing out
Dean Hart whenever it comes out. It takes a lot of work to put these together, and I've just done two videos in two days.
PTGRail ok let me know when the next video is out
Dean Hart RUclips should let you know, if you're a subscriber. Either that or keep an eye on my Facebook page.
PTGRail I'm not on Facebook
Dean Hart is that his real voice
+PTGRail Hi, i've been trying to drive the train without any help like you, but i have one minor issue, i never know the time as i cant find any in cab times on the 375/377 and the 465? Thanks if you can help!
I turn on the HUD when I'm at a station to know the time. I just edit the video so you don't see that :)
PTGRail sneaky
what do you use to record? is it complicated?
I use Bandicam to record the video, and Audacity to record the commentary. I then edit it all together in Sony Vegas Pro.
Sorry to be really (I hope not) annoying but I believe Meopham is supposed to be pronounced as Mep-em :) Sorry :P
You are correct, I was incorrect lol :p
¡AmALgaM!
What dlc is this? Is it south London?
This is the Chatham mainline, London Victoria - Gillingham.
Meopham is pronounced Mep-ham
Hey everyone!? What happened to "hello youtube" :(
I decided to change it up a bit! I got tired of my usual 'hello RUclips', and think this sounds a bit more professional :)
PTGRail fine, still miss the iconic hello RUclips ;) But great videos! Keep up the good work! :D
@QwertyAfro Your videos are amazing! Please shoutout me
very robotic voice
I try to be as expressive as I can, but it's difficult sometimes as making these videos requires a high level of concentration.
