    I was never a fan of flowering trees until I acquired a satsuki. Now I’ve got tons of different cultivars, mostly small but have a couple of decent size. Even got some crabapples

    What you are doing here is extraordinary. Peter Chan has been doing something similar over the lockup period and giving us such pleasure and knowledge, which for me, has gone a long way to get me through. I won't go into details. Mate, your presentations are so well structured and delivered for those of us up and down the UK, (I'm in the, now near, Mediterranean Southeast,) I would suggest that you are on your way to being one of the finest authorities on bonsai in this country. Your idea of using your little fenced off pod for presentations, your use of a truly funky wire machine thing that has made, probably, a host of people rushing to build something similar out of ply and sticky back plastic, and your incredible no nonsense, yet highly skilled and truly educational, delivery, will make this channel a great one. Perhaps a historic one. I have one thing to say. THANK YOU! Keep them coming. And, yes, I did buy some stuff from your website. So job done. Please keep this wonderful teaching going.

    I love the variegated colours of the flowers in Satsuki. Need to find one called Rebecca, and that would clinch the deal! (I think they miss-spelled the tree, I would label it "Corin" in your shoes!). I find that the leaves and flowers can be a little disproportionate in some cultivars, and have recently found an azalea with minute leaves - just waiting for an Australian spring for it to set buds!

    Excellent educational video, I'm a bit lost with Azaleas and have killed a few in the past, I learned some stuff that I did wrong now!👍
    I bought one from big Lee at one of the Bonsai do's at Don Valley Stadium years ago, It was an unusual one with bell like flowers that hung down, It didn't last long in my hands unfortunately, It was called Rhododendron campylogynum Myrtilloides, The flowers were a beautiful lilac colour, Was muchly pi55ed off when it expired 😭😭

    Thank you for the video. I was wondering about the blossom colour on your private tree. The colour seemed to be different from year to year. Is that just a result of the photography, or does the colour change for some reason? Thanks again. Keep the videos coming.

    • @cobbledtogether9539
      @cobbledtogether9539 3 года назад +1

      The initial photo was taken outdoors ( on a rare sunny day) the subsequent pics were taken in the studio against various backdrops, so I’d suggest it’s the lighting/photography, also the colours will look richer due to the increasing density of the flowers

    • @harveymilne1684

      @@cobbledtogether9539 Rhododendron flowers can also change colour when in non acidic soil. I don't know if it's the same for R. indicum though and I'm sure this tree was well looked after too before Corin got it.

    • @rebeccahunter725

      Kanuma clay. Fairly standard Japanese soil for azalea cultivation if you follow the Japanese tradition. I guess it is also available (for a price) from any bonsai supplier.
