    Awesome analysis and review. I have two Steam Decks, and I ended up installing the JSAUX plates on both of them. My only gripe with the backplates (and it happened on both), is the back right paddle buttons kept getting stuck. I installed the "reds", as i know many of you will too. I couldn't figure out why it was getting stuck or the presses weren't registering (no actuation nor click). It just felt empty or like a dead button. Panicked at first and thought I broke something.
    Then I come to realize that the cooling pad next to R4 and R5 location was wonking out their mounts/brackets and the tightness of it. After fiddling around, I ended up just loosening the bottom right outer screw under R5 (from completely tight, I loosened up by 1.5 to 2 full rotations). I heard and felt a slight snap-off, as if something came snapped loose. I tried pressing R4 and R5 again, and voila, they operate, function, and feel great, actuation/click and all! Hope this helps anyone out there having the same issue.
    Results: As far as I can tell, the case is sealed tight seam to seam. Nothing has come loose, even after the Deck running hot and expanding the metal components inside. Aside from that minor hiccup, the backplate is a MUST BUY!

    I'd be interested in measuring the temp of the hot spot on the stock case compared to the jsaux aluminum area. How hot does that plate get? Is it less comfortable to touch hold now? How well does the SteamDeck fit in its STOCK case with the Jsaux plate installed, It's not thicker or causing any fitment issues there is it? What about with the larger back buttons? Would it still be able to fit in the stock case with those?

    • @DASHReviews
      @DASHReviews  Год назад +1

      It still fits the Stock case no problem with the back buttons. The larger ones may cause the buttons to be pressed while in the case but haven't tried those yet. The back plate isn't any thicker so by itself with stock style buttons it's the exact same. The back plate does get hot but it isn't uncomfortable to hold unless you are resting it on your leg. I may make a follow up video answering all of these questions. If you think of anymore post it and I will do my best to answer.

    I'd be interested to know the framerates for all of the tests too.
    Due to the nature of the APU, the clock speeds will increase depending on temperature so you might find that the temps are the same/higher, but you're getting increased clock speeds, resulting in increased performance!
    Also, the fan RPM would be a nice touch. If you can get this case and it reduces fan noise, that would be a blessing! :P

    Have you seen the numerous videos and articles that state using magnets at the back of the deck isn't recommended?

    • @DASHReviews
      @DASHReviews  Год назад

      Yeah. It's recommended to not use strong magnets by the fan. Over the cpu seems to be fine, plus the fan I'm using does not have strong magnets. When I was using it I didn't notice any issue with the exhaust fan at all.

    any performance change or potential melting when you have a case installed against the plate?

    • @DASHReviews
      @DASHReviews  Год назад +1

      Nope. The plate get hot as you would expect but no melting or distortion during gameplay. I had it running God of war for a while and had no issues.

    The pad in the backplate actually blocks the heat pipe, which in long term.. yeahhh not so great

      Can you elaborate? I haven't seen anything on this.

    • @Gingerlion777
      @Gingerlion777 Год назад

      @DASH Reviews electronic magazine in my country did some research on it. (I believe there is also a guy on RUclips who checked it) what they say is.. the cooling pad on the inside is on the heat sink and partially blocking it. Of course it's cooler because of the pad.. but long term blocking the heat pipe could be dangerous. (I'm not native English so sorry for the spelling)

    Just installed mine. Not too happy tbh. There is a warp causing a pretty big gap in the right corner where the trigger is, also the back R4 button can get stuck down. I will adjust the screws and see if I can fix but the gap is annoying.

    • @DASHReviews
      @DASHReviews  Год назад

      Yeah try to reseat it. I had a slight issue with my L4 button but I reseated it and made sure I didn't tight down the screws too much and it worked out.
