- There's just something about circular windows that I absolutely love! This week I really enjoyed making this traditionally leaded geometric stained glass window. This beauty is going to be fitted into the most gorgeous new wooden frame in my clients internal wall.
If your interested I'm always posting my projects on my social media channels:-

Beautiful, great to see an old skill being practiced by a true craftsman. Every home should have at least one stained glass window.
I agree completely 😂🫶
I loved when I made the circular designs. I need to dig out my glass working supplies and start doing this again. That one you just did, turned out truly beautiful.
Cheers
That was unreal , beautiful peace.
Cheers 🤜💥🤛
Love it!! I wouldn't mind if you made the vid even longer. Watching you cut the glass is so therapeutic 😌
Noted! Cheers for the feedback 🤜💥🤛

Jan, Thanks for making this longer video. It's really nice to watch you work and learn your technique.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I am obsessed with anything stained glass! Your creations are gorgeous!!! Do you ever do anything with iridescent stained glass? I’m obsessed with that the most! I wish I had your talent!!! My daughter has your kind of talent! She is an amazing artist! I don’t have any talent! She has many, many talents😊
Cheers 🍻🍻🍻
Love to watch you doing your work - stunning results everytime 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you! Cheers!
That is Beautiful and royal looking creation nice nice nice
It was a fun little project this one. I'd love to make a slightly bigger version but with much more detail in the design 💚🧡💛💙💜❤️
Love this piece!❤
Cheers 🍻
Nice work! I wish I was still in the stained glass business. But working with lead for 45 years took its toll on me. It happens regardless of how careful one is in the art.
Thank you

I searched on RUclips and no one amazed me with the beauty of his work as much as you. I went to Japanese and Chinese people and everything related to this profession. Honestly, it's more than wonderful.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Aww thank you, I do put a crazy amount of effort in and it's always lovely to be appreciated 🩷❤️💙💚🧡💛

I love the blue bevels! Another gorgeous project!
The blue bevels were a rather random find in the workshop but worked out super well 💙💛❤️

Thank you 🙂❤️
Браво мастер!!!Желаю успехов в работе,классные работы!!!
Cheers buddy 🤜⚡🤛
I was learning stained glass but you had to wrap each piece. I assume leaded glass and stained glass are different? Love your work. It's stunning. Watching you cut glass with such ease... amazing.
Yes they are both very different! Cheers for watching 🤜💥🤛
Could you explain more about those differences? It’s an amazing art and I’d like to look for course and/or materials suppliers in Brazil. Congrats! 👏
Good job u have done, I watched ur video first time and highly impressed. Keep it continue.
God bless u more
Thanks for watching 🫶
My son in law's stepdad did stained glass and his work was beautiful. He was just starting to work with my grandson and teach him how to do the work but unfortunately Gene passed away way too soon. He told me about a church in Florida that the company he worked for did a restoration on the windows that featured Noah's Ark on the windows. I would love to see that church sometime.
I don't think I've ever seen a noahs ark window, that would be cool ❤️🩵💛
Thank you for sharing your talent and your artistry I would lake learn to make stained glass
Thank you buddy ✌️
You've just about convinced me to try my hand at using lead came for a future project. You and your client came up with a beautiful design for a circular window opening.
You should!
Such a stunning window
It came out really well 💛💙❤️ thanks for watching 🫶
Beautiful work. Can you give us more technical tip? The angles of the camera look special. Please tell us why you do what you do. Thanks.
Have you watched my other videos?
Que trabalho maravilhoso. Parabéns. 😊
Thanks for watching 💛❤️💙
Wow amazing
Cheers Lorraine 💙

Thank you 💜
So so beautiful... :)

عمل فني، جميل جدا.

I love Morocco ❤️❤️❤️🤜💥🤛
I know it's completely fine otherwise you wouldn't do it, but I confess I get nervous every time you hold the window up and jiggle it after soldering 😅 beautiful work as always!
It always reminds me of loose change jiggling in your pocket 😂🫶
Mon boulot là mon dieux j'adore ❤️
Cheers for watching 🍻
Simplemente maravilloso💖💖
🧡🩵💙🩷💜💛💚
Beautiful work. There’s no AI or robot in the world replicate something so exquisite. Could you please talk about what kind of software you use to design these panels? Is it something like adobe illustrator?
Cheers buddy 🍻 I actually spent a small fortune making my own design program a few years ago but I've also used Adobe and that can be a good program for this to 🩷
I can Watch you all day! It’s beautiful, in what state are you located and how long have you done this work?
🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 Nearly 27 years now ❤️💙💜
Love watching your videos, very talented. Can I ask what the strip cutter is you use to cut the glass down? Thanks
I'm not sure on the model, I bought lots of them some 20+ years ago but I haven't seen them for sale for donkeys years
Nice work
Thank you! Cheers!
Maravilloso trabajo. Qué producto aplicas al vitral una vez se ha terminado de soldar? Qué tipo de cemento? Saludos!
That's lead light cement 💜
Sei bravissimo favoloso 😮🤩👍👏👏
Aww cheers for the appreciation 🍻
Your techniques are good but I could tell you some we used at Pittsburg Stained glass and my own studio that would save you time on finishing out after your cement process . If you use lime sprinkled on with a can perforated with holes and sawdust , it will clean , blacken and shine the leads without the need for lamp black .After coating with a nice sprinkle of lime sprinkle some sawdust on top and use a medium stiff brush to clean and darken . This is done after leads have been fidded down . The lime blackens the lead and the sawdust cleans away and soaks up all residues . Try it and you will be amazed with the results . I only use lamp black when trying to match leads to existing artwork I am restoring .Also your dry times are unnecessary during cement . You can fid down your leads much sooner if you warm your putty instead of relying too much on thinning agents that need to evaporate some .
Hi Robert, honestly I've tried pretty much every technique over the last 26+ years. I've gotten my cementing process down to a fine art that I'm super happy with 🍻🍻🍻
@@JanLightLeadedDesigns Whatever works for you brother ! Keep the fires burning . It is the art more than the technique that needs to survive ! Love you in a 'guild' sort of way .
Great stuff Jan. At the beginning of the video you use a t glass cutter to cut a straight piece of glass. It looks a good quality steel one. Where can I purchase one please ?
I think it'd all aluminium and plastic tbh. I bought lots of them some 20year ago and they've been great but I don't see them for sale anymore and there's no name on them 😔 sorry bud
Thank you Jan
I love to watch you work Amazing!
Im wondering if you can tell me what type of cement you use? Im in Australia what you use looks very different to tje putty style we have here.
And where can i access a copy of this pattern? If allowable
Thanks so much for posting it really is a pleasure to watch
Annie
Cheers for watching Annie, I mix my own cement but it's a very similar recipe to the ones you can find with a Google search for leaded light window cement recipe. Templates wise I draw them all specifically to the size and requirements of each client. I just keep a copy on my own computer. Cheers for the appreciation 💚🧡💛
LINDO BEAUTIFUL 👍🇧🇷
Thank you 🤜💥🤛
Who do you recommend
to purchase glass from , and your work is amazing.
Aww thanks for the feedback, i've just posted up a new 'longer' RUclips video. If you do watch it let me know if you prefer shorter snappy videos or longer more drawn out edits 🤜💥🤛
And I mostly buy from Pearsons Glass in Liverpool 👌
Lovely work. Are you staining your own glass?
I buy the glass sheets in 💛💙🧡
@@JanLightLeadedDesigns so you buy them in already stained?
Do you guys use silhouette or Cricut for the patterns ?
Or what do you recommend for easy to use.?
I draw all my designs to size on a computer program I had made a few years back ❤️💜
Freaking gorgeous. Do you make the coloured glass by painting it somehow or just buy coloured glass?
I buy the glass in, it's sold in lots od colour and texture variation 🩷🧡💜🩶🩵
When putting the window together was that middle circle already one solid piece?
Nah I build the window started from one side and working my way across before soldering 💛💜💙
That gas iron is amazing, where do you get something like that?
It's a traditional propane gas soldering iron here in the UK. Expensive to buy but I've had one for 20+ years 💜🩵🤍
Jan, I noticed you don’t use whiting after the cementing process. Is that because of any particular reason?
I use to use whiting.. for many many years but I just got fed up with all the mess it makes 🫡
@@JanLightLeadedDesigns i hear you. 😅.
Hi. Where are you from dear?? I love it. Great work.
Thank you, I'm in Manchester in the UK 💚
@@JanLightLeadedDesigns my field is aluminum work. I also interested
amazing work!
by the way, can u tell me where to get those glass joining brakets?
Cheers I make leaded light windows using 'traditional lead came' 💜🩷💛
@@JanLightLeadedDesigns thanks!
ur work is inspiring!!
Jan, what pins are you using for temporary fixing glass pieces?
Are these some special ones ?
Those a horse shoe nails buddy 🐎
@@JanLightLeadedDesigns thanks👍
I would never have guessed myself 😃
What price range would a piece of this quality be around. Certainly something worthy of being on the front door.
It's all depends on the exact design intricacy and the sizes required but this particular window would of been around £575 🧡💙💛💚💜
Also...arent you worried about scratching the glass with the metal brushes when brushing the lead cement paste?
Those aren't metal brushes, they are still natural bristles but have softened up over time 💛💚🖤
Is there a certain computer design program you use to come up with the design of the windows you make?
I spent far too many penny's on my own drawing program ✌️🙂
What is the thin stripe that u are using?
I think you mean the traditional lead came 🫶
Awesome job and you are cute as a button!
Haha cheers 👍😂
Are those metal linings or lead linings? How can they be cut so easily?
Traditional lead came 🧡💚💙
❤
🩷💙🧡🤍
can you post where to get cutting tools?
I've had my tools for over 20 years sorry buddy 💙🩷💚🧡
جميل اوى
Cheers 🤜💥🤛
Que tipo de vidrios usa para sus trabajos
It's all pretty much art glass 💛
🙌💓
Thanks for watching 🤜💥🤛
Where did you learn how to do this?
My dad taught me some 26 years ago now 🫶
@@JanLightLeadedDesigns man that’s so cool!! Love your work!
How? I can't do anything. The glass breaks where it wants to.
Practice Practice Practice 🤣 💜🤍🩷
Very interesting I have Experience 5years.
It's a great craft, keep it up 🙂

Ciao,
i tuoi lavori mi piacciono davvero moltissimo, di dove sei? (Stato europeo, America, Australia,..)? Top 💯
Thank you, I'm in the UK 👍
Do you sell them and where can I buy them
All my work is made specifically for commission. I'd be happy to make something for you but I can only make work for customers who are able to collect in person once made from my workshop in Manchester UK 🫡
Can anyone let me know the way learn this craft
I'm a professional craftsman rather than a teacher but my videos are a great way to pickup tips 🧡🩶🧡

I want to be your student
