I'm skeptical that Hardin owned this pistol. I doubt a 21-year old Hardin owned a nickel plated pistol with ivory grips. At the very least, the pistol had some changes made to it over the years. Also, the lady is mistaken about the story of Hardin killing "Sheriff Carns" in Comanche, Texas in 1874. Deputy Sheriff Charles Webb was shot dead in a saloon in May 1874 in Comanche, but any member of Hardin's gang could have done it. No one knows for certain. She later corrects herself at the end and refers to Webb, but she did not seem to have a good grasp on the history of the firearm.
And stop calling it a "gun." Its a revolver or pistol.

I'll admit even though my Drill Sargeant beat the whole "don't call it a gun" thing into my head I still slip sometimes lol.

The crowd was building so the sheriff decided to just let him go? Not buying that. There has to be more to the story.

Agreed, her understanding of the history of the firearm seemed a bit lacking.

    Second and third hand affadavits.
Based on a gun that has travelled through multiple owners, with no documentation till decades later.
No photo's, letters from the sheriff who picked it up,,, sounds like a great, unsubstantiated marketing ploy, of the late 1800's early 1900's...... Really.
Griftin was real popular in those days, an even a rumour, of a legend, spread like wildfire...
