Hi everyone! First off, thank you so much for supporting my Dad, Tomo! I just wanted to clarify something from the video. While Tomo is the one who makes all the creative decisions, I do offer suggestions based on feedback and observations from the community. My role isn’t to tell him what to do but to help him understand what viewers like you might be looking for, so he can continue making content that resonates with everyone. He enlisted my help to save some time with the brainstorming part of content creation, so please let him know in the comments what you want more of!! Thanks again for your continued support :)
Thanks Sammi for clarifying this part! You gave me a lot of ideas! You are amazing! Thank you so much for your support too! You are really helping my RUclips channel!
I like Mr Fujita’s tangents and jams; they make the video feel like a real private lesson. I’d like to see more chapter markings in these 20-30 minute lessons. As many or as few chapter markings as feels necessary.

Triads are king. They deepen your knowledge of the guitar, show you how to build chords and where they are located across the neck and will have a surprising effect on your playing and understanding, even though you cant visualise it at the time while you practice them. Big thank you to Tomo for opening my eyes!

I really like these progression ideas with looper and foundation practice. They give me something new to try plus easy to understand because they are so well explained :) Also really nice to hear what professional technique sounds like.
I really enjoy content about chord progressions. Because guitar players often ignore learning new chord progressions. And they are so important for effective improvising. I was getting bored of doing my 1111 ,4411 ,5411. Thank you for the video, sir.

Thanks Tomo! I really appreciate the lessons and discussion about triads. They have helped me so much to understand the fretboard and to encourage me to use the entire length of the guitar.

I still don't know my triads, but you help me a little every time. Now start to hear them in my head, like you say, without cheating :) For next videos, I always like the beginner lessons Maybe next, how to go from the triads to playing and writing melodies, like building the triad bigger on the fretboard or connecting them-I don't know how to do that yet.
Thank you! This time I thought it's fun to show how to jam with these ideas. Glad you enjoyed it. Don't worry! Don't compare! Don't expect too fast! Be kind to yourself! Came from Owen's private lessons! You can learn triad inversions at my Guitar Wisdom. You prefer more beginner lessons? I will listen everyone's comments. You can connect triads & melody (Major scale)
When you're landing on a triad during a solo, try to think about which potential phrases exist within the triad itself and also which surrounding notes can be added to your phrase to make it feel more musical and unique. HINGE your solo on the triad. And use them to change directions and transition horizontally or vertically to a new position on the fretboard. "How can I use this shape to create a vibe using the surrounding notes?" This is what I try to focus on.
I use basic triad sound for I chord, IV chord etc. Definitely I use 4 triad sound and add a little blues phrase or chord tone (b7...9th.. 13th etc) But not all theory or technical aspect ... a lot of listening these styles. Maybe next lesson could be "How to play 3 different blues styles" etc. Thank you!

I really need to master this... I have the entire fretboard memorized and can noodle all over the major, minor scales, most modes, etc. but having trouble visualizing the chords under the scales as well as I'd like to but with these lessons I may yet get there. Thanks so much!
@@TomoFujitaMusic I will keep working on my triads and inversions as I know them all now thanks to you but need time to become fluent. Do-Me-So, Me-So-Do, So-Do-Me. Thank you for the added advice. I will follow it!
Hi! Tomo, I love you lessons. I think it's really cool when one can do an chord progression by kinda improvising the next chords and so on, could you maybe do a lesson in that?
Thanks so much! What exactly are you looking for? I can do many things but I need one clear specific direction. I know a lot of beautiful chord progressions.
Mr.Fujita My hobby is guitars electric and acoustic my favorite electric is the Stratocaster how it sounds the comfort of playing the history of how it came to be I currently own one electric guitar a polar white player Stratocaster I am doing as you told me and have tasked myself with spending time learning the chord shapes and triads up and down the neck. I really enjoy hearing you play it inspires me to play .Thank you for taking the time to create these videos I hope you’re having a great day . P.S. I have one amp it’s the BOSS nextone I like it because I can get good tone at lower volume level if you haven’t tried one I think you should I wonder what you would think of it
Thanks so much for sharing! Good job! Triad inversions are the best way to learn the fretboard efficiently! Thank you so much! So happy to hear that. You're very welcome! I am looking forward to make my new lesson video on every week! Great amp!
Great lesson! Can you provide again the name and model of the solid state amp and cabinet that you use in your videos? I love tube amps too but they are such a hassle to maintain. Thanks!
Thank you! All gear information is in the description. One Control BJF-S100 Solid State Amp. String Driver 2-12s Cabinet. I love tube amps but this way I play all day without worry about tubes!
great video tommo, do you think you could do a video on different inversions and substitutions used to vamp over blues i think it would be helpful for a solo player improvising without a backing track
perhaps also doing a mini series on the variety of prevalent inversions and substitutions used for different genres like soul, funk, gospel, bossa nova etc. i think this would be very useful for intermediate players wanting to expand from major minor triads and inversions
Check out the group Peela, the set of fancy Berklee chords you were using as an example, they have an entire song based around exactly those chords. It's a pretty good band.
So will the inversion be named by the bass note always? Even for spreading voices? Tone on that setup nice. Maybe do triad seven times for each inversion good too like blackjack 21!
Triad Inversions: Close Triads: R 3 5 / 3 5 R / 5 R 3 Root Position / 1st inversion / 2nd inversion Spread triads: R 5 3 / 3 R 5 / 5 3 R Very simple and not easy to apply!
@@TomoFujitaMusic Cool makes sense I know very good musicians that know but they dont have a name for it. Only cause they dont think too much but if you say it they would say you are right
@@TheRealSandleford Actually they think a lot with depth when they are practicing. Once they gain. They don't practice scales, arpeggios and triads! They just apply them musically with songs.
hey Tomo, can you explain where you went with notes at 21 minutes? what triad shapes and in what key were they? I have all my shapes down pat but i cant get to the next level where i can noodle like that.
Those are triad inversions on top 123 set strings that you need to learn first. Not too hard. G Major triad D Major triad E minor triad C Major triad Then adding phrasing from melodies & blues. One important technique is be able to play the top & the bottom notes of each triad inversions. I teach more detail lessons at my Guitar Wisdom. Thank you!
Aaaaahhh ha moment ...so like When Albert King goes from E to A and Stevie Ray doesn't miss a bea. its just one fret over, then go back to E..Hmmm. Master Teacher
Yet again, a very informative lesson based on triads-thank you, Tomo! I just want to ask: is learning licks helpful? For instance, I'm learning B.B. King's licks, both minor and major. A few of them are at my fingertips now, but there are so many that I can only recall a few. Even then, I struggle to play them quickly or on the spot. Could you please help me with this?
My pleasure! Learn anything is helpful only using by ears! No visually. Plus need to know chords behind that lick! If you use BB King phrase, try to change keys so that you cannot use same fingering and strings! You should do everything very slow. You are learning BB King real phrases right? Not minor and Major pentatonic = knowledges. Try to learn only 2-3 licks note for note!

So happy to hear that. That's why I don't use any tabs & PDFs. Those make people satisfied quick and do nothing (no improvement) Thank you!
Like to see lessons much more than gear reviews/demos. Love it when Dexter is in it🎸🎶
Yes! More lessons are coming! Thank you! Maybe Dexter will join! He was sleeping.
As always: warm inspiring and just absolutely great. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! My pleasure! Thank you!
Always love your lessons, they are both musically and educational for the fingers!!!!!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Happy New Year Tomo. I haven’t commented for a while but I haven’t missed a video. Your content is great as always and I’m considering Guitar Wisdom. I need something to get over a plateau I’m stuck in. My resolution for 2025 is to get beyond this place to another level. I know I can be better, but I need a push and I connect with your peacefulness. I look forward to working together on my goals but I don’t expect too fast. 😅
Happy New Year! Thanks so much for your comment! Guitar Wisdom is the best guitar education on this planet! My RUclips is more entertainment! Guitar Wisdom is real educational place. A lot people are very happy at my Guitar Wisdom. Very special place indeed! Yes! You got it! Thank you!
This is a fantastic video….builds nicely on the one’s earlier this week and sort of pulls it all together. My fingers have some homework to do…. THANK YOU!!
So happy to hear that! My pleasure! Thank you! Previous lesson video and one before ... a lot of people loved them so I adding more relate to those lesson videos. You're very welcome!
Catchy as always, cool stuff Tomo
Thanks so much!
Thanks again Tomo for another very useful lesson! Trying my best to absorb the information!
My pleasure! So happy to hear that! Thank you so much!
The best👌
Thank you so much!
Thank u Tomo❤
Thank you! My pleasure!
Thanks Tomo!
My pleasure! Thank you!
I really need to master this... I have the entire fretboard memorized and can noodle all over the major, minor scales, most modes, etc. but having trouble visualizing the chords under the scales as well as I'd like to but with these lessons I may yet get there. Thanks so much!
So happy to hear that! Glad to be helpful! Do not memorize the fretboard! Be familiar with the fretboard with triad inversions! You're very welcome!
@@TomoFujitaMusic I will keep working on my triads and inversions as I know them all now thanks to you but need time to become fluent. Do-Me-So, Me-So-Do, So-Do-Me. Thank you for the added advice. I will follow it!
@@OneMinuteChickens Good job! Please take your time! No rush! You're very welcome! Thank you!
Love you Tomo! 🙏🙏👏👏
Thank you!
@@TomoFujitaMusic I suffer from Depression, Tomo, and your videos are such a tonic - filled with care, joy and love!!! Brilliant!!! 👏👏🙏🙏
@@mwicks1968 Don't worry! Don't compare! Don't expect too fast! Be kind to yourself! You are special! Thanks so much!

Perfect opening tempo....
Thank you!
This is great. One day to be good as Tomo
Thank you so much!
Good video 👍🇨🇦
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoyed it!
Mr.Fujita
My hobby is guitars electric and acoustic my favorite electric is the Stratocaster how it sounds the comfort of playing the history of how it came to be I currently own one electric guitar a polar white player Stratocaster I am doing as you told me and have tasked myself with spending time learning the chord shapes and triads up and down the neck.
@ Thank you Tomo and I should have caught that. Looking forward to your next lessons!
great video tommo, do you think you could do a video on different inversions and substitutions used to vamp over blues i think it would be helpful for a solo player improvising without a backing track
perhaps also doing a mini series on the variety of prevalent inversions and substitutions used for different genres like soul, funk, gospel, bossa nova etc. i think this would be very useful for intermediate players wanting to expand from major minor triads and inversions
Thank you so much! Great suggestion! I will read everyone's comment and I will decide what to make next video! There are so many choices!
Thanks so much for your suggestion! I would love to a series of "How to make better tone or how to set up best tone"
Check out the group Peela, the set of fancy Berklee chords you were using as an example, they have an entire song based around exactly those chords. It's a pretty good band.
Thank you! I will check!
So will the inversion be named by the bass note always? Even for spreading voices? Tone on that setup nice. Maybe do triad seven times for each inversion good too like blackjack 21!
Triad Inversions: Close Triads: R 3 5 / 3 5 R / 5 R 3
Root Position / 1st inversion / 2nd inversion
Spread triads: R 5 3 / 3 R 5 / 5 3 R
Very simple and not easy to apply!
@@TomoFujitaMusic Thank you, makes sense
hey Tomo, can you explain where you went with notes at 21 minutes? what triad shapes and in what key were they?
I have all my shapes down pat but i cant get to the next level where i can noodle like that.
Those are triad inversions on top 123 set strings that you need to learn first.
Not too hard.
G Major triad
D Major triad
E minor triad
C Major triad
Then adding phrasing from melodies & blues.
One important technique is be able to play the top & the bottom notes of each triad inversions. I teach more detail lessons at my Guitar Wisdom. Thank you!
@TomoFujitaMusic thankyou! Signing up now!
Hardtail
Yes! Simple and sounds great!
Just curious. How many guitars do u have
Great question! Too many! I am in gear diet now!
Reminds me of Jason Mraz
Thank you!
I love when you jamming.
Thank you! I wanted to make a shorter video... but clearly I failed!
@ well I wasn’t sorry for that. The jamming sections in your videos bring joy to your teaching sections 😊
@@JLAPLAYS Thank you so much!
Jamming is good because then we can take naps between learning heavy stuff
Good job! Thank you!
TOMO = Guitar
Thank you so much!
Aaaaahhh ha moment ...so like When Albert King goes from E to A and Stevie Ray doesn't miss a bea. its just one fret over, then go back to E..Hmmm. Master Teacher
Thank you so much! I love Stevie Ray Vaughn, Albert King & BB King!
Like to see lessons much more than gear reviews/demos. Love it when Dexter is in it🎸🎶
