Holy cow, this game did turn into the SWAT series. According to wikipedia about SWAT 2: "It retained a few adventure game elements in the form of an inventory and use of a few puzzle items such as a pizza (to draw a suspect out of a house)" ^ I sure don't remember that ever happening in that game. What I do remember is filling the building with tear gas and then smashing through the wall with a tank.
The swat games killed the series for me. Completely different from the first 3. I can't say they were worse, I played the first swat for one gaming session and never came back. That was the death of police quest for me.
"Death, no matter how many times you see it, you never get used to it." You see lines like that in fiction all the time but it's usually not true. Never underestimate the human capacity to get used to shit.
I always assumed that phrase is either based on the idea that you get tired of seeing it or you get immune to a specific experience and then the change up where you felt like you weren't ready to experience death in THIS sort of way that breaks the wall and makes you feeble to it again though it will probably be the last time for one reason or another. The phrase sort of suggests that you get used to things but life still has surprises for the well prepared.
I'm a bit surprised that Durham, North Carolina is Yahtzee's go-to example of a small US town. Mostly because it's incredibly close to where I live. Also because in the little podunk I live in, Durham is considered "the big city".
As much as I have a spot in my heart for old Sierra adventures, even I can admit that they've aged VERY poorly. You literally had to have been there to enjoy them.

"And all the permits you have to sign to even dispose of it when it's been cooked! Cooking the brain creates a poisonous surface!" yahtzee19 Yahtzee, at the beginning of the video, I just had to burst into laughter, as I live out in Burlington North Carolina. Which isn't too terribly far from Durham, but the description you gave of it was hilariously accurate. Thanks for the laugh man.
Fuck yeah, didn't think a video was being posted this week, but it lands smack dab on my birthday. I'm excitedly posting this before I've finished the video so I don't know if you're still doing questions, but what are your opinions on the miniseries format? I feel like it's an untapped medium, and since not enough people are willing to make them, we end up with a lot of films that are both too long to watch easily and not long enough to make sense. Also, I know Yahtzee has a soft spot for TNG, but what are your opinions on the other Star Trek shows? Favorite non-Picard captain?
I grew up playing Lucas Arts games and never played the Seirra adventure games. So far, my exposure to them is "Bullshit puzzles. No story direction." I seriously doubt there are any good ones, especially considering these criticisms have held up through 3 different games from different series.

Upon seeing in the comments people mentioning Drowned Out, a thought occurred. I remember Yahtzee saying the reason he doesn't monetize these videos is because he believes me makes more than enough from his work with the Escapist. So my question to Yahtzee is, why not monetize your videos on this channel and use the money generated from them for a good cause such as charity?
