Thanks Dave, I was considering buying a Aqua Q. tarp. Thanks to you I will be buying an excellent made in USA 10'x10' tarp. Thank you for providing so much useful information my friend. Tennessee
Thank you for watching, Jeff! I've heard good things about the Aqua Quest tarps, however, I really enjoy this BCUSA tarp. I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and leave your awesome comment, my friend! -Dave
Thank You so much for showing the tarp Dave. I had looked at the BCO website after our last conversation about your tarp, but actually seeing it set up and the showing of all the good points of this tarp was a seller for me!!! I did not realize it had the ridge line tie outs. As I had mentioned, I had been looking for a good quality tarp and was wanting to get away from the poly tarp...I now know my next gear addition. Thank You for taking the time to show us this tarp and what you liked about it, Lee
Thank you for taking the time to watching and leave your awesome comment, Lee! You are going to love this tarp! It took me a little while to save for but worth every penny! I would definitely call this tarp "top notch quality"! Nice to hear from you, my friend! -Dave
I've heard a lot of good things about those tarps. Almost bought one but remembered I have an 11' hammock. So I went for the 13'x10' Aquaquest King Defender. It's 70D as well. A well made and durable tarp is worth its weight in gold, in my opinion. The inexpensive blue tarps are great for starting out but after a while the grommet repairs and the noise made me switch. Oklahoma is extremely windy and a quality tarp reduces the noise by 95% at least. Also it makes the rain sound better if that makes sense. I can hear the droplets instead of the tarp. Great lullaby. Keep up the great work, my friend.
Thank you for watching, my friend! I have also heard great things about the Aquaquest tarps! I agree with your excellent analysis of quality tarps. Nice to hear from you, brother JZ! -Dave
Good review, and endorsement. I have seen another bushcrafter do a review of the same tarp. He has the same opinion of it that you do. I'm grateful for the knowledge that you, and others like you, share. Many thanks
Nice tarp! When I first started camping (40 years ago!) tarps were all we used. I'm a tent guy now as it keeps the snakes and bugs out. I guess I'm not as brave as I once was! LOL! The tarp still makes for a great shelter and that one looks like a good one! Nice intro Dave! Take care buddy!
Thank you Sir for sending me the link to this informative video. I agree that a square tarp is best and is why I have a Kelty Noah 12 for bigger gatherings, but I'd like this one for packing in for one or two people to use. I currently also use the blue 5x7 and I'm really not that fond of it since a grommet tore out the 1st time I used it. I haven't actually used it since I reinforced all the tie-out points with gorilla duct tape and put in larger heavy duty grommets, but I'm sure it will be alright in a pinch!
The blue 5x7 isn't bad at all! I used it for quite some time but it's now essentially become a ground cloth. I also had a gromt tear out but I just create a 'button' on that corner when I tie it down. Thank you for watching, Dano! -Dave
Thank you for watching, Dawn! Nice to hear from you, my friend! This tarp doesn't even blink when hit with any type of weather! I also love that all components are USA made! -Dave
I think you are going to love that tarp, my friend! At the time, I got this multicam because they were out of the coyote. Keep me posted on how its working out for you! -Dave
Nice.I have the coyote brown bco 10x10.I prefer that color in the fall/winter early spring months because it blends in better.I like my Hennessey hex,and Hammock Gear Cuben Fiber Hex a lot too.
Back when I purchased this tarp, I actually intended on buying the coyote but they were out of stock so I spent the extra to get this one. Your tarps all sound like winners, my friend! Thank you for watching! -Dave
Hey David, great to see you my friend. I have been looking at the tarps on this site and they truly are top notch. I most likely will purchase this one, like you I enjoy the added versatility of a square tarp. I presently use a 9x12 sil/nylon guides tarp. Although it's a great tarp for the price, I was unable to get it in camo, coyote brown is what I settled on. Still need a stealth tarp.....I will probably take your advice here and grab one. Thanks my friend, always a pleasure to watch your work. Thanks for the 3 PART MORA SERIES....FANTASTIC . Be well my Bushcraft Brother!
awesome video. really like that tarp. just got my very first hammock and have been trying to figure out what tarp to get for it. this video helps a lot.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment, Michael! Nice to hear from you, my friend! This tarp is an outstanding tarp for my hammock! -Dave
Thank you for watching, Federico! I think this type of tarp would fit you well in your woods adventures or to give you a break from the sun during your awesome street performances! It's great to hear from you, my friend! -Dave
Nice tarp for sure. I need something heavier duty and a little longer on one side. I usually end up running over my tarp a few times with my scooter during setup. That ridge line pull out to make more room is a great idea. My lean to has to cover my scoter as well so must extend further out. Great video again.
I can definitely understand that, Wheels! Does you Aqua tarp have the ridge line tie-outs? If so, the pull out to another tree will work perfectly for you! Thank you for watching, my friend! -Dave
Nice tarp, thank you; however, the Aqua Quest 10X10 Guides is just as waterproof, has multiple tie-outs and is sooo light...their Safari is just a little heavier.
Excellent review Dave. Yes a tutorial on how to water proof the seems on a tarp is a great idea.. I like the braided paracord, must be stronger than 1650 pounds? ( 3x550 ) you should make a video about it as-well! Thank you for sharing my friend,,,
Thank you for watching and leaving your kind words, Yves! Great to hear from you, my friend! I will definitely do a seam sealing video! I showed my braided paracord ridge lines in a couple of videos last year but I think it's time to feature them in a reboot video! Great idea! -Dave
Looks like a great tarp! I'll have to upgrade from the UST tarp I have right now and this looks like a great optiion. I wish they had it with an aluminized surface on the reverse. Would be a great addition imho. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment! I have seen a couple of guy online attach their Grabber blanket to this tarp, essentially making the inside reflective. Nice to hear from you! -Dave
Great looking tarp that I have been thinking about picking up. You made my decision easier. Would not mind seeing how you seam sealed it. Thanks for the vid.
Nice tarp without a doubt, but Aqua Quest makes two better tarps...The Aqua Quest 10X10 Defender and the Aqua Quest 13X9.5 King Kamo. They come 100% waterproof already seam taped, 18 tieout reinforced loops and stake pockets. 70D and a big stuff sack.
They haven't been made in a while but the old Integral Designs tarps are also much better than the BCO. Much more and better stitching on the tie-outs. Pity you can only get them on the used market, I'm not gonna give mine up!
Looking at the tarp specs on BCO’s site they list the weight at 1.7lbs including the stuff sack. Are you weighing your 550 cord too? Pretty big difference between 2.4lbs and 1.7lbs.
Nice tarp and I love the review. One thing I'd have to correct you though is that it is a prusik knot and not a lark's head. Anyway, love the videos. Keep up the good work.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your kind, encouraging words, my friend! You are exactly right...not sure what I was thinking...hahaha! Its great to have you here and I look forward to talking with you again soon! -Dave
Have a tarp that is 4-5 kg Hahahahahaha.. Only use it here in the yard for covering up things. Its an old military canvas tarp I found on the road one winter. Nice to have, but not to carry in the woods over long time..
Great looking tarp. I prefer a square pattern as well, so many more options. That camo pattern is Woodland though, not Multicam. I checked their website and they don't offer it in Woodland, so that's odd. Maybe they switched to Multicam after you got this one. Either way, good review and a nice product.
As note by Irish Zombie, the pattern is woodland camo, a pattern no longer offered by BCO. I have the BCO MEST 5x7 tarp in woodland and it is a very nice "personal" size tarp. Should you want a 10x10 USA-made tarp in woodland, you can get them from Etowah Outfitters. They are less expensive than the BCO, probably due to not being mil-spec, but otherwise the design features are exactly the same, which leads me to think that BCO has Etowah make its tarps to its specs.
HighCarbonSteel Love Yes, indeed, Etowah tarps are US made. As I said, I actually think they may be the source of BCO tarps, just made to slightly upgraded BCO specs (aka mil-spec). As for the color choice, it bugs me when outfits change items without letting the buyer know, as I'm sure that BCO knows the difference between the two camos. Not hard for them to email and check with you before shipping. I prefer woodland here in the North Woods anyway, and it looks like it will be just fine where you are, too.
Thank you for the info. I think I have heard that Etowah and BCO are related in some way. I was initially looking to purchase the coyote color but they were out of stock back then so I spent the extra money for the camo. Truthfully, camo is camo to me..haha! Thank you for stopping by! -Dave
Thanks for the clear video and the review! I'm considering the exact tarp you have and I'm wondering about the Fire Retardant claim. Does the tarp shed sparks? Or does it catch sparks and make an instant hole like the cheap tarps? Thanks
Thank you for watching! I've never really kept track, however, I can tell you that I've used it for quite some time in front of many fires and I do not have any burn holes in it! I think you would love this tarp! -Dave
Thank you for taking the time to watch, leave your very nice comment and for the sub! I really appreciate that and hope to talk with you again soon! -Dave
I use this tarp just about each and every time in the forest and I love it! To be honest, ever since owning this tarp, I haven't even thought about looking for another! Well worth the money and very versatile! Thank you for watching and leaving your excellent question! -Dave
Thxs for the Fast reply, Think Im going to order the www.bushcraftoutfitters.com/OD-Tarp-10x10-tarp-10x10-od.htm .. cant see paying 100 more just for camo.
That one is going to be great! I would've ordered a more neutral color but they were all out of stock at the time I ordered. Let me know how you like it, my friend! -Dave
Mark Berggren -- You can just search the Bushcraft Outfitters site to find the tarp. That's what I did. I was thinking of getting a 5' x 8' tarp, but Dave makes a compelling argument for the 10' x 10' square.
The multicam is a bit of a different pattern. Right now at the website, they do not have any woodland camo available but they do have multicam, which will give you a good idea of what it looks like. Thank you for watching! -Dave
Nice intro on this tarp! I have a question..was wondering..when you head out into the woods to set up..are you looking for a specific spot..like lots of trees..or less trees..what the ground is like..or you just pick where ever you want to set up? Like if I wanted to do this..do I need to be looking for something..aware of anything before I do?.Silly question? lol
Thank you for watching, Louise! Great question! I usually look for trees that are the right distance apart for my tarp and/or hammock. I try to find a relatively clear area on the ground but always end up doing a bit of clearing to lay my ground cloth. I also make sure I look up because I don't want any big branches falling on me. Other than that, I just look for an area with a lot of dead standing trees around for firewood. You excellent question is actually an outstanding idea for a video! Thank you for that, Louise! -Dave
Thank you, very much, Josh! I really appreciate your sub, your likes and the fact that you are taking the time to watch! It's great to have you here, my friend! -Dave
It is the best tarp you have owned because you have never owned the Aqua Quest Defender Tarp. It is also 10x10 but it already comes seam sealed. If you want the best you will have to get a Canadian product.
nice tarp good size, but not multicam, its us woodland pattern camo, multicam is very different, the tie outs could have been put on better the bar stitch isnt great without reinforced material to stop rips, i would have thought seam seal would have been done at the factory, i know dd tarps and most other tarps come already sealed i think that is just being cheap not sealing it, i bet thats its not reflected in the price..good tarp but they cheaped out keeping it from being a great tarp......just a little more attention to detail could have made a big difference for little cost...8 out of 10 from what you shown cheers for the review
Thank you for watching! You are right, it is the woodland camo tarp...I had to go back and research my purchase. Thank you for stopping by and providing your info and input! -Dave
HighCarbonSteel Love i use tarps a lot in the woods and in the military, so i know a thing or two about them, the really lightweight tarps are just too fragile and get ember burns too easily, light is great, bt they have to be replaced far too often if used seriously, the weekend wonders may find them fine but any serious outdoorsman will take the weight penalty for the strength over the flimsiness of the superlight tarps. like i said i do like that tarp, but with just a small amount of effort it would be a great tarp indeed. cheers
I definitely concur, my friend! I also agree that some small attention to detail would've made this tarp that much better! I appreciate you stopping by and leaving your awesome comments. Nice talking with you! -Dave
I'm curious why everyone suggest you seal the seam on tarps even the manufacturers themselves suggest this. I would think the actual manufacturer would take the step to do this for quality. Is there a reason they don't do it before selling it to you?
Thats a good question, my friend. I believe BCO does seam seal the tarp but maybe they suggest the user seam seal, as well, for a backup? Thank you for taking the time to stop by! -Dave
It's definitely not a lightweight tarp but it is an outstanding tarp! I actually like the extra weight. Thank you for taking the time to stop by, my friend! -Dave
I've heard good things about the Defender. The 'flimsy' look may have been the way I had it set up, but this is an excellent tarp! Thank you for watching! -Dave
After watching this, I purchased an OD 10×10. Can't wait to use this in tandem with a hammock sleep system... Thanks for the thorough review!
Your video nudged me over the edge of deciding on the BCO 10x10 OD tarp. Thanks for the good review.
Thanks Dave, I was considering buying a Aqua Q. tarp. Thanks to you I will be buying an excellent made in USA 10'x10' tarp. Thank you for providing so much useful information my friend. Tennessee

I think you are going to love that tarp, my friend! At the time, I got this multicam because they were out of the coyote. Keep me posted on how its working out for you! -Dave
+HighCarbonSteel Love I got a multicam MEST for Father's Day and love it. I should be going out in 2 weeks for a few days.

Thank you for watching, Joel! I appreciate you stopping by, my friend! This is an excellent tarp and I never go into the forest without it! -Dave
-Dave
I like the tarp. You're looking sharp Dave.

Still remember to seam seal it..Great tarp, my best buy !
Lee, Indianapolis (BushRadio on BCUSA)
Thank you for watching, Francis! I completely agree about this tarp and am very happy you took the time to stop by! Please don't be a stranger! -Dave
Thank you for watching, John! I've heard great things about the Aqua Quest! I appreciate you taking the time to stop by! -Dave
Aqua Quest is made in Taiwan, a province of China. They are also more expensive that the USA made BCO tarps, by up to 50%.
Your particular tarp is ripstop, not sil. The sil tarps by BCO are higher priced than the Aqua Quest sil tarps.
Looks a like a great tarp Dave... enjoy it!
Thank you for watching, my friend! I am enjoying this tarp very much! -Dave
I was thinking it was just a tarp. But the material looks a lot better and lighter.
This is one of the absolute best pieces of gear that I own, my friend! Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your awesome comment! -Dave
Nice looking tarp Dave I'll check them out great review my friend stay safe and God Bless

Thanx
Best tarp I have ever owned! Not the cheapest or the lightest but absolutely outstanding! Thank you for taking the time to stop by, Darnell! -Dave
Have a tarp that is 4-5 kg Hahahahahaha.. Only use it here in the yard for covering up things. Its an old military canvas tarp I found on the road one winter. Nice to have, but not to carry in the woods over long time..
Sounds like a heavy duty tarp, my friend! Thank you for watching! -Dave

Great video David!
Thank you for the kind words! I appreciate you taking the time to watch, my friend! Please don't be a stranger! -Dave
Hi Dimples ✌🏼😊
Great looking tarp. I prefer a square pattern as well, so many more options. That camo pattern is Woodland though, not Multicam. I checked their website and they don't offer it in Woodland, so that's odd. Maybe they switched to Multicam after you got this one. Either way, good review and a nice product.
In further research of my purchase, you are right, my friend...it is the woodland camo tarp! Thank you for the info! -Dave
+HighCarbonSteel Love Anytime sir.
Irish Zombie Nation Thank you! Nice talking with you, brother! -Dave
Actually, you are right, it is the woodland camo tarp. Thank you for the information, my friend! -Dave
It's square, it's rip stop, it's USA made and you like it..... Winner winner winner!
I couldn't have said it any better myself, Jeff! Thank you for watching and leaving your awesome comment, brother! Nice to hear from you! -Dave
looks like a good one
Thank you for watching, phyllis! -Dave
Great review - I almost purchased the same tarp but went with the aquaquest 10x10 instead.
Thank you for watching and leaving your awesome comment! I have only hear good things about the aqua quest!
-Dave

It is probably expensive. Can I trade in all of my cheap tarps to lower the price? I have about 12 of them.
just subbed up. Great video! Ty.
Thank you for taking the time to watch, leave your very nice comment and for the sub! I really appreciate that and hope to talk with you again soon! -Dave
Great tarp :)
Thank you for stopping by, Marcel! I really appreciate that! -Dave
how is this thing doing a few years later? do you still use it?
This thing is doing great and yes, I still use it quite a bit! Thank you for watching! -Dave
Where's it made?
USA awesome!!!
If you ever get out to Colorado and ya want someone to share the forest with.
Thank you, Ronon! I appreciate you taking the time to stop by, my friend! -Dave
Aqua quest makes the best tarp!!
good vid. so where can i buy bco tarp?? plz answer me
Thank you for taking the time to watch and leave your nice comment. BCO tarps are available here - bushcraftoutfitters.com/bco-tarps/. -Dave
So I see this Video is aug 2016 what do you think of the Tarp now ? It looks Good from Video, still use it or found another?
-Dave
That link isn't working. Do you where this tarp can be purchased?
Mark Berggren -- You can just search the Bushcraft Outfitters site to find the tarp. That's what I did. I was thinking of getting a 5' x 8' tarp, but Dave makes a compelling argument for the 10' x 10' square.
That's woodland camo so does that mean when I go on there website and find it if it says multicam it looks like that
The multicam is a bit of a different pattern.
-Dave
Thanks for the info! Yes! Do a video on it please! Thanks Dave!
Louise Gardner I sure will, Louise! You are the best, my friend! -Dave
Cant wait Dave! =)
That's a nice tarp Dave. Did you get a hair cut?
Thank you for watching, my friend! Yes, a little bit of a haircut..lol! Vacation time soon, huh? -Dave
Yes sir, started my vacation Monday! Thanks.
***** Have a great vacation, my friend! -Dave
I already subscribed so i gave you a like :)
Nice :-)
Thank you, Florian! I appreciate you stopping by, my friend! -Dave
how does this compare to aqua quest and DD?
Sorry, my friend, I cannot compare because I have never owned either one of those tarps but they look tough, as well! Thank you for watching! -Dave
"I really enjoy extra weight in my pack." KABOOM!
Thank you for watching, Hector! -Dave
I also really enjoy pebbles in my shoes and sand in my butt crack.
Jason Dinan wow me too but the other way round
Why is survival lily on the thumbnail?
nice tarp good size, but not multicam, its us woodland pattern camo, multicam is very different, the tie outs could have been put on better the bar stitch isnt great without reinforced material to stop rips, i would have thought seam seal would have been done at the factory, i know dd tarps and most other tarps come already sealed i think that is just being cheap not sealing it, i bet thats its not reflected in the price..good tarp but they cheaped out keeping it from being a great tarp......just a little more attention to detail could have made a big difference for little cost...8 out of 10 from what you shown cheers for the review
-Dave
sadly square tarps are hard to come by and also expensive enough to be out of my price range.
They can definitely get pricey, Albert! Thank you for taking the time to stop by, my friend!
-Dave
Thing weighs a ton. I have one too.
It's definitely not a lightweight tarp but it is an outstanding tarp! I actually like the extra weight. Thank you for taking the time to stop by, my friend! -Dave
It's funny how many people these days confuse "Woodland" for "Multicam".
Well, then. It seems they are. I guess they can't be perfect. :P
Haha! I appreciate you taking the time to watch & comment! -Dave
You are right, my friend...it is the BCO woodland camo tarp. Thank you for the info! -Dave
If you think that is a good tarp, then you need to get an Aqua Quest king Camo or safari. By far some of the best tarps on the planet.
I've heard great things about them! Thank you for watching! -Dave
@@HighCarbonSteelLove
Oh your welcome, great video.
rip to the goats
Looks flimsy against the Aqua Quest Defender.
I've heard good things about the Defender. The 'flimsy' look may have been the way I had it set up, but this is an excellent tarp! Thank you for watching! -Dave
That's woodland not multicam.. Just a fyi
You are exactly right! I did update the description section soon after uploading this vid due to my error. Thank you for watching! -Dave
unfortunately it's made in usa and I boycott everything from usa. so not for me.
tarp sucks.... Aqua Quest best
Thank you for watching! -Dave
