Rev, when you put your hand on the end of trail monument, you dropped your face into your arm. You looked emotional. Thanks for this extraordinary video, sharing your hike. I prepared a year to run my first marathon, 70-80 miles a week. When I was running the last few yards to the finish line I got emotional. I don’t know why. Maybe it was the year of diligent preparation, finally over. Maybe it was a physically difficult goal accomplished. Will I feel these things when I finish my through hike? I can’t begin to imagine walking marathons everyday. Hard to think my physical condition might be so strong. How does it feel to have such strength and endurance? Kentucky
I guess it was the realization that I just accomplished something that many people would love to accomplish but can’t for one reason or another. Also, I just accomplished something that I never thought I’d be able to accomplish. Another reason for the expression of my emotion was the realization that now I got to go home and see my family who I hadn’t seen in a long time. I think it was just 2,653.1 miles of pent up emotion that came out all at once. People react in different ways when they reach the monument. That’s just how I reacted.

Wow what a wonderful trail and what an achievement!! So much respect for you! One practical question: how much (and what kind of) food do you take with you and where and how often do you re-stock, and with what?

Exceptionally beautiful indeed. I'm tempted trying the PCT after I have walked across the Alps range from Vienna to Ventimiglia in the coming two summers.
