Doc hit the nail on the head with trust! Dang I love your realness!! I was just burned on my mulch guy. Charged me for 3 pallets. Charged me to lay the 3rd pallet. Then I found out he returned it hrs later for a refund. He got paid 3 times on that pallet but luckily lowes helped me catch it cause I was born at night but it wasn't last night.
That is just criminal right there. How can people do things like that and sleep at night? Glad Lowe's helped you catch it. This world is a mess brother 💪💯

Doc, you are so right! I can't get contractors to show up and give me a quote on reworking our back deck/porch. They say they will come and they just don't show. It's so frustrating. My dad always use to say, "son, let your word be your bond."
It really is not the same place I grew up in and people just don't care. So sad. at 5:40 in the morning I still haven't heard from the guy. Sad

I’m not religious but have respect for anyone that has a work ethic and can tell it like it is - which is why I’m a subscriber. It’s true you can never pay anyone enough for their time - greed eventually comes to fruition. You have to enjoy what you do and be thankful for what you can give back to the world. No one should work for free, but living life complaining is no way to live either.

How about just people keeping their word? I wouldn't know what dependable would look like. Kevin was the best help I have had in yrs. but he is a carpenter and was blessed with a good job.

Like many others have said I get it and that’s why I stay solo. I don’t see how these bigger companies do it! On a side note in regard to trusting folks and all…I get that too! 5/3/23 I sent an email to a fella about some trimmer straps because he had some available. Never heard anything from him. Then 3/4/24 I checked in on the status of those straps and as life happens we all get busy, we get sick, things happen etc… Should I go buy me some straps? I’ve held off waiting but the fella just isn’t coming through like he said he would! Thoughts? Hang in there and keep your trust in God as you already said man will let us down every time! Thanks for today’s lesson!

As you know I’ve had my struggles with staff, in the end it was easier to do it myself…i have come to the conclusion that people don’t think the hard work is worth the money, but customer can’t, or won’t, pay more meaning we as employers, can’t offer more.
I’m predicting a crunch point where there are so few companies in lawn care and landscaping that firms will be able to name their price, at that point wages will rise and more, and better staff, will re enter the market. Goodness knows how long that will take though. As always fantastic work Shane 🙏✊💪

I've noticed my rubber springs sag too by the end of the day. Was wondering if that's what there sending you is heavier rubber springs.
It is, all you have to do is contact Bad Boy and they will send you the fix for it
If you haven't grabbed there chute blocker yet do it's works better then any I've tried. It's cut my bagging that I do in half or more.

The upgrade kit consists of two metal spacers and an extension for the safety switch, easy to install and fixed the issue. I'm 291 lbs. and the kit fixed it for me.

It makes me think that those yards are over fertilized. I have one yard that grew like crazy last spring and since I have taken over the fertilization this spring, it grows but no where near a fast as last year. I know I am putting out what should be put out because I weigh out the product until I get comfortable.
I drop the customers that over-fertilize...too hard to keep up with and then they wonder why their grass is high week to week.
Companies out there do waaay more applications in a season than what's needed...you really only need 3 applications a season tops...companies out there doing 5,6,7,8 applications a season...ridiculous and a waste of money for the customer...and makes it damn near impossible for the person cutting the yard.
I was curious because every 3 weeks it seems as though the sign is up in almost every yard. Thanks for the info brother!

That is the dealer, They are being ridiculous. Call them 1-866-622-3269 That is the number to their corporate. They are great people. Dealers suck sometimes

Tell me about it. I work 55 hrs Monday through Friday at my full time job. Friday evening I get home start cutting yards. Saturday morning get up roll out again and usually work till around 4. In all I cut 21 properties from Friday evening until Saturday evening. In the last 3 weeks I’ve turned down 60+ properties. I’ve referred them to a friend of mine that does it full time and he won’t call the people back. It’s frustrating believe me I know.
That is ridiculous brother. You are a hustler and a half! Not many like you left. How can people just keep turning work down and then cry when they have no money. I just want the rain to STOP!!!! God bless

I feel for you. But it goes both ways. Those of us who want to work get the Heisman trophy stiffarm treatment. I don't know if it's a PA thing or just idiots who are foolish enough to judge books by their covers before given an opportunity. So when I here employers complain (no disrespect to you Doc) about "no one wants to work," it's kind of like karma for those who WANT to work but shived/turned away. Its like the girl who decided to date a jerk rather than a nice guy. Now she's complaining about the jerk she dated.
I get it. Kevin was a beast but has a good job now. I just need to downsize due to weather.

@DOCREAL1118 I also understand about the lazy world I offered 2 boys a job to help us with mulch for some extra summer cash they turned me down because they have it set if a student can not find a job or is hired by a company for a summer job they can file it through the education system and have a monthly check from the government. All they have to say is they need the money to prepare for schooling or for food.
