- The 7 Great Demon Lords are all powerful and strong decks in the Digimon Card Game. All of them except Barbamon that is, no matter what the support has been for this Demon Lord, the Barbamon deck continues to under perform. But why? Is this Digimon TCG deck really that bad? In this vid we'll go over what exactly the Barbamon deck does and why it's not getting results like its other Demon Lords. While there will be a lot of dunking on Barbamon, there will be a fairly successful deck list at the end of the video showing a competent Barbamon Deck profile.

It feels like Bandai is still scared to make a discard opponent hand type deck without restrictions
Agree barbamon x is the worst of all but I thinks with the mollusk/fallen angel build barbamon can a real threat

As someone who plays Barbamon with the fallen angels package, it sucks 👍. Barbamon not counting as a fallen angel and losing Scapegoat when you X evolve are honestly just real big issues. 12 minutes is not enough time to go over just how bad this deck is.
have you tried with like the mollusk cards and splashing some ravemon cards since they so essential trash your opponents hand? been trying to find a good spot and make it a discard deck but yeah does suck
It’s weird that the way it’s intended is argueably the worst way to play it. I do agree with comment above, Mollusk feels the way to go to force more discard.
@@thenephilimm I've mostly been trying to mix in NSo cards to help, but Mollusk is probably better.
@ I can see nso work! just so hard to make this deck function was trying to do the same thing with ravemon being a discard deck by putting gulfmon and moon but it was really hard to pull things off.
@@thenephilimm I was doing the exact same things and I'm stuck, my new approach adds skulmamothmon to help get those lvl 4 "trash your hand pls" cards... (also I'm running a neodevimon/dandevimon approach to get security down faster
EX07 LilithmonX kinda moved away from the whole "Milith" playstyle so she actually has had two playable iterations in this games history. Similar bottomend to any generic purplepile LKM-X or Levia uses but LadyDevis as the Level 5s.
Tangent but I’d love if we got a proper Daemon deck. (I will not call him Creepymon.)
Maybe get some cards for the Daemon Corps and his robed form (maybe working kind of like the promo MagnaGarurumon where it evolves on other versions of itself) to give him an especially unique gameplay style.
So far both Creepymon involves some self-milling, really hope X form goes more into milling your opponent to make it a bit different from Beelze X.
@@TamilTakuya Could be; but like I always say about Craniamon X, Daemon is a Digimon I'd like to get a proper deck for before we discuss what the X antibody does.
For example, while only based on one of the Daemons we have so far*, perhaps the deck could also go in the direction of spamming out levels 5s from Trash; which you can then evolve into level 6s to revive more level 5s. This might be another natural direction to take the deck if the Daemon Corps (all level 5s, naturally) are incorporated into the deck with strong [On Play] effects.
(*Think it's safe to say the EX6 version would still see play in such a deck of course. Removal is removal, and that removal is even better if it's got a searchable name.)
I enjoy playing Barbamon but it works because of the syakomon, gesomon and marine devimon stuff

On top of all of that Barbamon took the Devimon Tribal/Dondevimon playstyle with it. The Don deck was a deck full of making your opponent make little decisions. For example, Do I run into this digimon with retaliation? (Devimon) Do I play this tamer? (NeoDevimon) Do I kill this Don now to stop it from threating my security but lose two cards?
It was a fun toolbox deck back in the day but no, old man comes, they read the one line in Don and think oh yes this should just be smashed together into a nothing sandwich. Because that's what people wanted when they said this deck needs new support. Do the one thing, on one of the cards, horribly.
I shall never forgive it.
(Also I remembered Demidevimon. Little mon did have its time in the spotlight.)
I tried cooking with Barb guys, it’s still mid tho. BT8 Creepy mill still dunks on this deck
Barbamon sucking is completely on purpose. Bandai doesn't want discard decks to ever be good, and I can't say I disagree. Imagine if there were no protections in place keeping the opponent's hand size from going below 5. At least 4 cards are needed to build a stack, anything less and you're stuck in brick city. It's the same reason HeavyMetaldramon will never be good, you can't play the game at any level of consistency with 4 cards in hand. If Barbamon had unrestricted discard it would be virtually impossible to win against once it got going.
I personally hate Barbamon X because he was announced right after the Guilmon X line so it for me it was a tease that megidramon X was gonna be a thing...
Megidra X needs to come soon, the design is so cool.

sure it wont win tournaments, but i say the thing is to have fun and torment your opponent as much as you can, what me and my friend have cooked is quit fun
Your theory for Jewelerize works if we had more options and tamers per deck. You could literally say digimon and their entire hand gets discarded
some player in asia already found way to make barbamon trash card from hand works, using levia engine with some adjustment with barba and moonmileniummon

I thought it looked cool. I already had the Cards he used in my Deck so i Build it myself!
Barbamon was a Card inside that Deck.
Now that i have played this Deck and Switched out some Cards, Barbamon wasnt a Part of the Deck anymore...
Now youtube shows me this Video and i couldnt agree more.
I also think Barba needs a new Version of itself.

Or a Deck that actually doesnt have a Downside for reducing the Opponent hand to 0.
Or atleast errata him to have a higher default Playcost so he could play Demon Lords... lets say like 16 Playcost?!
It its own deck he could play Bodys that are of Playcost 11 or less because 7 is the Treshold for Discarding minus the one that opponent just discarded!
(7 minus the Discardet from the lvl 5 and then another from Barbs reducing it to 5 cards in Hand!)
This isnt high enough so that you could Spam another Barba BUT high enough to play another Demon Lord! OR a Dandevimon EX6!
(It would also be a good idea to maybe but on a Restriction that you cant play another Card with the Same Card Number as this Card. Just in Case someone tries to Handloop the opp to 4 handcards and then spam out 3 Additional Barbamons from EX6)
Just Imagine how cool it would be!

Doesn’t that also proc heavy metals effects and lets you cheat out an ace that kills barba
I honest to god think Ravemon is a better discard deck than Barbamon. It works better, has two actual sets of support, can actually do something when it gets going as well, and burst mode is really decent.
You see this comment is kind of hard to agree or disagree with because
Ravemon IS The better deck no question.
But I wouldn’t say is intrinsically better than Barbamon at discarding (in fact Barbamon is better)
Ravemon only has two cards that could potentially discard and one of them replace your opponents hand if they have five or less.
Barbamon has ways to make your opponent discard throughout its entire line and gives penalties if they can’t.
Ravemon isn’t better at discarding it’s just flat out the better deck because it has decent support and most of its stuff It’s more about getting benefits by deleting itself so it can spawn itself later
