Ive been retired for 30 years with L27 in that area. This video brought me back. Had been to many fires like this in my ten years in that area. this is the real deal. Great job from you. And it was a great job for me and the guys I worked with.
Retired for 30 years? God bless you brother - you beat the SHIT out of the pension!! For anyone who doesn't know, 27 Truck is an extremely venerable, brand name company with a proud, well earned history of great firefighting. Right in the thick of it during the war years, and still a very busy place.
Building is about 90 years old. Construction method was plaster on wood lath for walls and ceilings. So once fire gets into those areas very hard to extinguish. (May have been electrical starting in walls as old wiring present.)
Special thanks to the firefighters of the FDNY that run to the danger when we all run the other way! You are true heroes!! I appreciate the excellent coverage given by this video. Without you and the sacrifices you make we wouldn't know the inside scoop. Stay safe.
You do a great job filming your work is well appreciated not to mention it will all serve as the history of FDNY. I am a NYC Paramedic when I go visit my niece/Goddaughter in Arizona she always says tio (uncle) Chris may I please have your phone so I can see all the FDNY movies you have? 😂 I love it but I always allow her too view the appropriate ones as she is only 7 years old. I just want to say thank you for your work because she says when he gets older she want too come work as a FDNY paramedic/firewoman 😂 it’s so cute God bless her. My family’s history is in every area of NYC public service I am the only medic so I keep pushing her to become a NYC Paramedic like me or too become a doctor 🙏🏼 just too sum it up thank you brother for all your post, God bless you & stay safe.
Hoselines are operated from the interior....the only time you would operate into the roof would be to stop fire from jumping across the 'trench cut'.....If the decision is made to go to an outside attack (remove all personnel from building) then you can use LCS (large caliber streams) from the exterior...
My apt is located on the 6th floor, luckily I wasn't home that night. Imagine getting home at 3 in the morning after work and finding out that your building was on fire. I was locked out for a month and a half. I don't know how, but my apt remained intact, even tho the fire started just a few doors down from where I live.
Those poor men looked so exhausted coming down those stairs! Bless them and all fire personnel the world over. These brave men and women risk their lives every time they go to work. I just can't imagine. Thank you all for what you do each and every day and I pray you have all the protection you need
Some of the answers I got when asking the same question: The BA mask blocks their vision. They know when smoke is dangerous.Well, a trained fire fighter should be able to operate with his mask on and smoke is by default dangerous. So why not masking up? Because they don't want to look like sissies? Because their commander didn't order them to mask up? Any answer is as good as mine I guess. In Holland the truck commander (if the situation calls for it) gives the explicit command to mask up (as if the fire fighters didn't know already that masking up would be a good idea).
David Young There are hose lines operating inside the building on the top floor into the cockloft. Remember, the Truck Companies have to pull down the wooden lathe & plaster ceilings and expose the cockloft to allow the Engine Companies to extinguish fire.
“Your in charge of roof operations, you could order members off the roof 2 blocks from here for all I care, take care of it” lol I love it

This is by far your most epic video work......thanks! FDNY friggin rocks! My grandfather was a native New Yorker.....I love that city!
The brick work is fantastic on the building you never see that today probably no one is around that can do it.
It's called Flemish bond. It's still used but only on select architectural feature walls.
:6:28. Fire RAGING above the FF's. Lights on and almost no smoke showing. Incredible.
Yet again great video!! And great job by the fdny as usual!

FDNY Response Videos...what was the final outcome? Did they manage to knock down that roof/cockloft fire and save the building?

We live down on Webster and 169 and remember smelling smoke around that time.
About the 1 minute mark did command say it was a shit show? LOL!
Nah the chief said “six-Oh (60) I got it”
Thanks!
Florida Catholic Guy if he did it happens in the battle

Bob Haley Absolutely, there’s one video on here where command tells them to go and put the F’n fire out! That’s a classic!
Someone tell me why I donot see some of my heroes wearing there breathing asperatis equipment.
