- ...V Scale Creations has focused on bringing Turn of the Century railroading to Microsoft Train Simulator for ten years. We previously reviewed the Ozark Northern, and now we're taking a look at their first creation. How does this route work in bringing the past of railroading into the present? We'll find out in this review...at the railyard!

St. Louis & North Arkansas Railroad: vscalecreations...
Great to see another excellent review, mate. I especially liked the exclusive use of Railroad Tycoon/Sid Meier's Railroads music, which I choose to believe was a deliberate callback to your Ozark Northern review, which was also made by V-Scale Creations and is based in a similar setting.
I am a little surprised you didn't mention V-Scale's expansion to this set, which includes a whole new set of rolling stock that was modeled to Ozark Northern standards.
Nice use of the Railroad Tycoon music!
Looking back at this route, you can tell it's kind of a predecessor to the Ozark Northern. Lower-quality textures, only one engine type (a ten-wheeler), fuel inconsistency, etc.
It's like going back to see where Andre Ming started out. :)
Railroad Tycoon and Railroads music! Whoo! :P
Can you see if they have or will make an belfast and moosehead lake railway route wich is in maine wich it has a budd car 12 swedish passenger cars 19 normal cars 30 freight cars 6 ge70tonners and a swedish 4-6-0 and other rare cars.
Great job I thought it would be Stevens pass. Could you review the rf&p route for MSTS or open rails. Also I can't find the hauling the harvest grain scenario for Marias pass
A very nice review Nick; I especially appreciate the Railroad Tycoon: The Second Century music; brought on quite a nostalgia trip for me.
BTW, are you going to review the ACS-64 for TS2014?
Do you plan to review the Durango & Silverton for railworks?
Where do you get your soundtrack?
Very nice review and all of your videos. One requst, can you review Northeast corridor New York-New Haven with ACS-64,HHP-8, and M8's? (Which is still working on by RSC.)
I disagree. Great route but DTG stuff is always very buggy and very unrealistic. It's my worst sim.
MrMatt3751 Nothings perfect
I know.
Justin Voelker But almost all of the DLC is terrible.
well I like it its simple and you drive trains not much more needed
Will you release the Ghost Train 13 video I suggested? It is my request.
Great review nick
At 4:58 i was like HUMPIN CARS!?
How do you detach camera in MSTS and Open Rails?
8 in Open Rails, in MSTS it is a mod.
thank
What's the opening song?
What's your steam name I'll friend you
MSTS is old dude, what happened? why did you stop reviewing the latest/greatest stuff?
Because MSTS is still a classic!
WHAT WAS THE FINAL SONG!!!!!!?!?!???
its the theme for sid miers railroads(cant spell that name)
why u no do trainz review DDD:
+Bobby Cowart maybey he hasnt got it?
I thought that was Sierra #3 lol
It looks and sounds like her so I don't blame ya!!
Everyone loves Sierra 3!
You should one day review a bad route and see how low the score can go.
Go watch Donner Pass for Railworks V1.
Great review
But MSTS stuff is very outdated can you just make Open Rails, Run 8, and Trainz stuff now? Train Sim 2014 is too buggy and barely even worthy of the name "simulator" since the physics and brakes are unrealistic. Plus the content is overpriced.
***** I like Nick's reviews quite a bit. Seems like a pro at it. For my 2 cents worth, which isn't even worht that, I agree with Mr Matt completely: RSC, or DTG (trying to hide behind a new name), have a VERY buggy product, that is no where near 'sim' level. It's a game. My hope is that Run 8 can get up to speed with more routes, and modern graphics. I don't know of any train sims that look like they have a graphics engine made in the last couple years. Not really sure why...
***** You have a good point. Thanks
Paynekillah Yeah I agree. They're hiding behind a broken product.
Thanks for agreeing. Glad I'm not the only one.
Regardless of how old it may become, MSTS's massive fan base will ensure that it's never outdated so long as it has support (this includes OR since it mostly uses MSTS formatting in terms of routes and trains). Steam, EA, and those behind RailWorks, Rail Simulator, and all the like didn't promote the same type of community (though the way Microsoft did it - by making a really shitty original and giving people tools to improve it - is not a good business model at all).
