It's encouraging to know that this kind of support exists. As someone with ADHD and finishing up mental health counseling degree, I wondered how others were dealing with this and other issues around ADHD. Thanks again,
Thank you, Maelisa! I just added my name to the waitlist for the paperwork catch up group. It feels good to have community and know it is not just me alone.
OMG!!! Yes. I stay overwhelmed. I despise paperwork. I need duct tape and velcro to make me sit down to do my notes. I have questioned leaving the field because of the paperwork. Counseling is a double edged soard for me. I love it and can do session all day but I cannot stand paperwork. ( It literally makes me miserable!)
Try the check box method! It might be a life saver for you. Write as little as possible and use as many checkboxes as you can. ruclips.net/video/k5C3LCKoaQQ/видео.html
Thank you for your honesty! I was able to feel that I am not alone. I am not sure if I have ADHD, but I have the same tendency you explained in this video mainly because of my language... I am ESL person and writing in English is always challenging in general. I will follow your direction from now on!
Yes, writing notes is also difficult if English isn't your first language or if you have a learning disability. There are sooooo many things that can impact writing notes, and make the process feel longer or like it's a lot of work.
When I schedule a time to do notes I'm really scheduling a time to be hungry=going to get lunch "real quick", mindfulness for 5-10 mins =nap, or a bathroom =20 mins of youtube. Or all 3 if there is enough time to waste. Then instead of using the little time left before my next session I just go ahead and waste it too. Then I stuck in everything thing you said at the beginning. It's been 5 years needing just the right template or almost catching up before "JENGA" lol
Thank you very much for making this video. I know this has always been a huge challenge for me. I can relate to everything you shared. It feels good just to hear that I am not alone with that. I need to check out your group! I have yet to hear anyone speak specifically about this, so thanks for what you are doing!
Thank you so much for this! So glad I am not alone. I have ADHD and dyslexia and when I am tired it plays up really badly and I can't write. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I’m a new subscriber💚Yes Yes & Yes Maelisa! Thank you for your for your authenticity and courage💚 I have recently been diagnosed with ADHD as a middle aged adult and it went being unrecognized during my childhood and earlier adulthood likely because I was a high academic achiever. I’m on non stimulant medication which hasn’t helped yet and my documentation has been such a source of guilt/shame. I am using the tools I educate my clients but consistency is my biggest challenge. I look forward to enrolling in your next course and following some of your tips you’ve provided in other vids. Thanks for all that you do, you’re very much appreciated!
So glad you got a diagnosis and can now tackle it all head on! Documentation may always be challenging for some of us, but we can definitely learn tools to help. And we can learn to adapt and move on, rather than shaming ourselves for not getting it right every time :)
I'm diagnosed with ADHD. I have lost 3 job within the past year over not completing paperwork in a timely manner. I just want to be a therapist but I no longer feel like it's for me 😢
I'm so sorry to hear that! It definitely takes some extra work to find the documentation and time management strategy that works well for you, along with a supervisor/manager who is able to support that process. In my opinion, collaborative documentation is the best option if it continues to be a significant struggle.

Yay! We will open enrollment again in August 😊
Thank you so much for sharing your story and for this specific episode. It was like you were talking directly to me!

Aw, thank you for sharing, too! It's so amazing that many of us are experiencing the same thing but thinking we're alone in it all.
Wow... thank you for describing what happens to me on a daily basis.
By good fortune I happened upon your channel
Gratitude 🙏🏽
Always happy to help!
Well done! I know this will help our fellow ADHD therapists!
Yes, we need mutual support! :)

Sounds like you need to schedule in guilt-free down time, which is just as important 😉
Thank you so much for all you do & your self disclosure!! You are amazing.
Thank you so much for sharing. You are spot on.
Such a common struggle!

YES! to all of this. I feel so understood.
Isn't it amazing that so many of us are experiencing the same thing and have no idea others are dealing with it, too?!
Oh my gosh. I am a new therapist just starting in private practice. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
You're so welcome!
Thank you for sharing!!! The pattern you describe sounds like me:(
OMG I considered going into a different field because I hate paperwork so much!
It's so stressful! Glad you're still with it, though. It's manageable.

I feel so very call out, ma'am. Literally watching these videos, making a plan and procrastinating on notes.
Thank you!!!! Me to a T!!
