I hand raised two baby rats at the same time. they were going to be snake food so I saved them and fed them formula and eventually baby food until they could eat on their own
I did this once as well. "Rescued" three little rats who were meant to be snake food and raised them ... one of them sadly didn't make it but the other two were just great. It broke my heart when they died so soon because rats just don't get that old... One of the reasons I stopped keeping pet rats :(

In a busy house is so easily gets polluted by scratching dogs, cats seeking attention, husbands coughing, planes flying overhead (we live close to the airport) plus I would have to turn off audiobooks and radios. So much easier (and more fun) to use music. I would have to become the 'sound police' around here every time I filmed if I wanted to use natural sound.

Are you ever afraid that some of the grown mice might try to harm the babies? I know I had hamsters way back when, and you can't handle them like you do baby mice, but I've had to move them from their mother a few times, and it was nerve wracking watching them to make sure she didn't cannibalize.
she has videos of her introducing one of her baby mice to Stuart. she talks about how she does it. she's very careful and doesn't leave them alone together at first.
I have alway liked mice even owned to so when we had mice in the attic we use traps that just catch them not kill them and once we kept 9ne for a couple of days because it was really could and there was deep snow outside
She had to grab them very soft I had baby hamsters and when u clean their cage u have to count has u pick them up i had to grab mine with such a gentle grab
Wonderful job with both of them! I used to raise rats and just about anything someone else didn't want. My grandfather was a vet and i grew up helping him in the hospital and i must say wonderful job you are doing 😊👍

Check out the website 'The Fun Mouse', they have everything you ever need to know about mice. Get the largest cage you can afford in cost and space, get one that is also attractive, a mousery is a little like an aquarium, it can enhance the look of a room and this is part of the joy of mouse ownership. Look at my video 'How to Tame Pet Mice' and approach mouse ownership with a similar mindset you would approach dog ownership, with the same level of respect for an intelligent little animal, it will make mouse ownership more meaningful and fun. Brace yourself for the short life span. In some ways it has an advantage, there is less responsibility, if you discover that mice are not for you after all or your life circumstances change you only have to care for it for a year or two. But it can also be very hard, you can get so attached to a little mouse and all too soon it is gone.
I'd recommend getting rats instead, they're much more social and love attention from humans more then mice. Also get at least two because they do get noticably dejected without a companion.
mouses and hamsters are bite sometimes when they bored or sleepy. but "guinea pigs" aren't bite never and they are so sweety more thoose also. ı succes you a guinea pig :)
sacfda asca Uhh Guinea pigs can and do bite. I don't think they mean to on purpose since I treat mine quite nice and still got bit cause he was feeling chewy and apparently I got in his way. But it's happened twice in like 3 years.
sacfda asca Actually Guinea pigs do bite as well. Totally depends on the attitude and how they are treated. I personally prefer a rat. Get them young and they get tamed enough not to bite.

baby mouse is young adult and can breed in 12 weeks, so that would not be correct unless it took a year for a baby to grow beyond a baby

In some ways it has an advantage, there is less responsibility, if you discover that mice are not for you after all or your life circumstances change you only have to care for it for a year or two. But it can also be very hard, you can get so attached to a little mouse and all too soon it is gone.
I'd recommend getting rats instead, they're much more social and love attention from humans more then mice. Also get at least two because they do get noticably dejected without a companion.
mouses and hamsters are bite sometimes when they bored or sleepy. but "guinea pigs" aren't bite never and they are so sweety more thoose also. ı succes you a guinea pig :)
sacfda asca Uhh Guinea pigs can and do bite. I don't think they mean to on purpose since I treat mine quite nice and still got bit cause he was feeling chewy and apparently I got in his way. But it's happened twice in like 3 years.
sacfda asca Actually Guinea pigs do bite as well. Totally depends on the attitude and how they are treated. I personally prefer a rat. Get them young and they get tamed enough not to bite.
