That is so freaking badass, that engine is so pretty in the 51 it doesn't have the sound but you can't expect that from that size of engine, but it sure has the looks!
Maybe try designing a gas powered 4 stroke V12 in the future. I know the logistics in that endeavor are immense but it would be amazing. Beautiful engineering on your V12!
That was awesome - havent seen many non electric rc planes - i think these are way cooler. is the weight a big issue when flying, is that when it landed it didnt glide down?
The extra weight can be an issue on landing as you need to keep a higher speed then normaly but once in the air it controlled well. We are improving the throttle control at low RPM to improve landing.

The tail wheel came off. It was the last thing that I would have thought was going to fail. I was obsessed with worrying about radiator hoses leaking, water pumps failing, electronics giving problems, gearbox problems etc. none of which were a problem.
My god....if you could get that engine up to 1/2 scale...with a proper ignition using avgas...The home builders (EAA)would be in your kitchen raiding your refrigerator. Would make a nice Hotrod engine, too.
Too bad there is already a real "Q-scale" 4-stroke V8 RC engine in "mass production" and there isn't any such thing as a "half scale" experimental aircraft.
@@deeremeyer1749oh but there is! Is a company called W.A.R. selling kits and plans for 1/2 scale ww2 planes (you fly in, not RC) plenty of 5/8 to 7/8 flyable ww1 replicas.... have you heard of the Bally Bomber? Guy built himself a 1/3 scale B17 - single seat, with four 100hp Hirth engines. A guy up here (Canada) built himself a two-seat C130 Hercules, with four vw engines. I understand he flew it at least once, but was very underpowered.
There was a fellow in my dad's model engineering club who was building a half scale Merlin V12. He'd built several working radial and rotary engines previously so no doubt had the tools and know-how to make it happen.
@deeremeyer You don't know about WAR( War Aircraft Replicas)? Most of thier products are half scale. Kit's assembled at home...makes them EXPERIMENTAL aircraft.
its 2023 we have 8k video and amazing mics even on phones... pls dont tell me you can spend all that money on a engine but cant afford even a android phone that could take waaay better video and sound.
Well this is gonna hurt your feelings, but I’m a new manufacturer of the world’s first production 1/4 scale unlimited hydroplanes, and I’m currently working on a super charged version of v12 going into a overdriven 3 gear v-drive box assembly.. so my comment wasn’t being negative towards video, I’ve heard them in person. The video microphone doesn’t pick up the sound we all can’t hear.. That’s a bad ass plane, people like him paved the way for me.. I have nothing but respect..
The P51 is horrible at slow speeds, and it's stall characteristics are that of a rock falling quickly through the air.. Even when perfectly balanced, it stalls like a rock falls.
We are currently installing the V12 engine with increased power output into a 1/4 scale P51. This should greatly reduce wing loading and improve the flight handling characteristics.

Great thing ! And thank you for not playing music in the background.

Wow! A truly remarkable piece! Thank you for allowing us to watch and congratulations!
That is OUTSTANDING a real v12 that’s friggin bad ass as it gets
Absolutely beautiful machine!👌
This is one heck of a motor scale and perfect for the job hope to see more from Philtech as what i have seen so far is Tops thanks for sharing
The way it accelerated during take-off was quite impressive. Can´t wait to see the final product. Congratulations.
Congratulations. Thank you for sharing with the community. Beautiful!
Nice bird. I like the sound of that engine and looks awesome
Very well done ! Congrats! Would love to see more!!! What a beautiful engine.
Great achievement , wonderful to see it flying thank you
Awesome, great to see one fly!
I got to see the engine on display during the austech show in melbourne last year.
Very well made
Is it a 4 stroke v12 I sounds like a 2stroke
Stunning achievement to get this far! Beautiful!
That is very nice and smooth. Thanks for sharing.
Many happy flights😅
Absolutely awesome to watch and hear
Awesome job!!!
Beautiful sounds.

Looks and sounds awesome.
Congratulations on a successful maiden can only get better I will follow with interest.
Outstanding
This is much harder to fly than a real airplane. I admire what this guy is doing
Well done! A miniature 12-cylinder motor! Is there anything else that is waiting to shock and amaze?
Wow!!
Very nice 👍
Smooth sounding engine.
A great aeromodel like this one without breaks?
Spectacular!
A 1/5 scale V12... liquid cooled 😳 👍👍
How is the torque on the plane? how much rudder have you been using? This is a cool design!
It's a fantastic plane, has potential to be great.

wow.. what a landing
Very interesting 👍
The orange safety vests lol
What size prop was used on this flight?
24 inch x 12 pitch

That is cooler than cool.
lol how cool! Big boy toys
speechless, WOW
Awesome work! But the sound of that V12 is disappointing. I guess the displacement is too small. A Moki 5 cylinder radial sounds much better.
It's a two-stroke, so the firing intervals can't be the same.
What is your all up cost? 10k too low?
Is this engine available to buy?? Where?
Google Philtech Lesley V12 Model Aero Engine. It's $13,500 USD when released for sale.
Bloody brave lol, I'd never risk something as nice as that.
Do you know why this plane did a involuntary quick U-Turn after landing ?
The tail wheel came off. It was the last thing that I would have thought was going to fail. I was obsessed with worrying about radiator hoses leaking, water pumps failing, electronics giving problems, gearbox problems etc. none of which were a problem.
Tail wheel pilots keep the stick in their guts when on ground ,! Great model!
And use differential braking.
12 cylinders always sound like two 6 cylinders slightly overlapping themselves 🤣🤣
Makes sense
Use a higher pitch prop and a wider blade.
Or, use a gear ratio of 1: 1.2 since you are using a v12 engine.😄
👍
From the sound it could be a 1 cyl engine
Awesome , now if you can get it to sound like a Merlin and get it to 1/4 or 1/5 scale : )
I am so happy that there are people with time, money and dedication to make these dreams come true!
Wing loading looks too high....Should work with more wing area and more pitch....😳🤔🇬🇧
Couldn't really hear it all that well because of all your talking, what little I did hear sounded like almost any other RC.
When small engine makes small engine noises😢😢😢
Epic
wtf ghahah way too cool

Sounds good to me. If you take into consideration it's a toy that is. Q
the mates look like stop-oil guys :)
Indeed doesn’t sound at all like a V12..😢
It's a 2-stroke engine on 20-30% Nitro. Did you expect it to sound like a V12 4-stroke on gasoline?
Go homebuild a full-size 4 stroke V12 if you want authentic sound.
It does sound like an Aventador though a little bit

What a incredible project "Wow" so glad she flew for you engine unbelievable
Too heawy engine for this airframe and too small cylinders for realistic sound.
This was a test flight. The motor is designed for 1/5 to 1/4 scale models.
The original P51 also was driven by a V12 Engine
No it wasn't. It was powered by a wankle rotary engine🙄
A shame the motor doesnt sound better, sounds like a 30 year old nitro motor
Sounds different in person
Lol where’s your v12 rc plane? That’s what I thought 😂
@@Rliphaha, thankful I didnt waste my money on one. I have plenty of planes, and bigger ones..

That means you have none.

Yeah I think a 1/4 scale would help the wing loading. And more prop to load the engine a bit. But we'll done. The engine is a master piece.
Kinda bitched the landing. Got lucky too steep approach too fast.
Too much Yap yap yappin' and not enough motor!
Screaming it’s head off, sounds awful so gotta wonder why bother?
The sound is disappointing

Laughing my ass off at the supposed "scale". That prop is nowhere near 22".
it actually is a 24 inch
That sounds crap
sweet more right rudder on landing
Doesn't help when you lose the tailwheel.
Yes that defiantly is a problem@@hifinsword
