Design need correction. One more support need. Bending is not good for long term use.

As long as you don't bend it to the point of plastic deformation (Where it doesn't bend back immediately), you shouldn't have any metal fatigue. However I would probably agree that it would just be nice if the bracket is more solid or connected on 2 sides, even if just for a generally better product quality feeling.
Also I don't think the bending is from the turning itself, but rather from doing it with a hand crank, that introduces more momentum in directions the device is not per se built to disperse well. You almost certainly wouldn't see any of this bending when an electric engine is used.
