I do think canelo is slowing down I feel like he gasses out in later rounds personally I think the bivol rematch is a more dangerous fight than Benavides. But I think canelo is running out of options.
Canelo looked good but i dont see him fighting Bivol or Beterbiev, he looks like he's slightly in decline and you have to face those guys in your prime to have a chance. If Bivol wins against Beterbiev the fight becomes huge but i dont see Canelo having good enough chances of victory to take it. Benavidez is a more winnable fight even out of his prime
Canelo would have to make GGG II levels of adjustments and have the training camp of his life to be at least competetive with Bivol. I can definetely see avenues of improvement for Canelo, simple things that would make him do better, the questions are: 1. Do Eddy and Canelo see what they did wrong the first time around and do they know how to improve upon them? And 2. Is Canelo's body able to take the toll of going up while also implementing those chages wich would result in Canelo needing to be as sharp, durable and explosive as ever? I have my doubts about both tbh.
Canelo completely dominated Berlanga. Dropped him but couldnt KO him. Berlanga looked HUGE next to Canelo tho and thats something that can not be overlooked. Dude looked like he was 200 pounds fight night.
@desanctisapostata wonder how much he weighed against a 147 pounder amir khan. He needs kiss eddie hearns feet. The amount of mediocre fighters whens got him to fight on the past couple of years.
Berlanga did his job; it was the best version of him I've seen. Beyond making money he doesn't need, I just don't know what Canelo is doing or why anybody should care. With the match-making the Saudi money has created, Alverez has started feeling like yesterday's man.
I think Alvarez is prime right now my brother. His timing , his stamina preservation, faints, punch selection , framing .. an absolute elite. His challenge is 175 though .. there are much bigger man there who know how to box at that level. I like what he is doing to the younger boxers... not embarrassing them.. but schools them.. like Floyd did to him.. give them a lesson.. Canelo should stop rehydrating to 180, honestly it doesn´t help him at this point of his career in wich he doesn´t even knocks down anyone. Canelo was at his best when he wasn´t rehydrating that much. Look at the Daniel Jacobs fight, the best Canelo performance by far and the guy couldn´t rehydrate above 172. If he´s going to fight Crawford and Bivol, he should rehydrate no more than 178 for Crawford and no more than 180 for Bivol
Canelo looked good health wise and movement wise. Berlanga wasn’t ready for that moment. Other than a good jab and heart berlanga didn’t look good. I expect Berlanga will be out a yr or 2 then comeback and fight a meaningful fight.
The problem you’ve got with Benevides is that the longer it takes to happen the more Benevides settle’s in his body at 175 then there is definitely no way Canelo fights a proper filled in 175 Benevides imo anyway. If it’s going to happen it needs to be soon when he can still get down to 168.

@margarita2019. Hard to say if Canelo is declining, because the only opponent who has pressed him recently was Bivol. All the rest give up after tasting his power. Berlanga was no exception - he was happy just to last the distance.
So tired of hearing people say how good Canelo looked. We know how good Canelo is and Berlanga is simply no where near his skill level. NO WHERE NERE! Canelo not being able to stop jermell, old golovkin, Ryder, Munguía or berlanga lets me know he doesn’t crack the way he used to.
Outside of Lara vs Danny it was a solid card!
100% agreed. Really enjoyed it.

The winner of Bivol Beterbiev is going to have some serious brain damage so maybe Canelo fighting the winner gives him a much better chance now.
