- How to use vinyl templates from your Cricut or Silhouette Cameo cutter to etch metal. Covers briefly using photoshop/cameo to import images and cut them on Oracal 651 vinyl sheets and then use an old car battery charger, some salt/vinegar solution to etch those designs into any kind of metal surface.
the ink at the end is a great idea to finish the piece, thanks.
Great job with language and clean demo it was fun to watch. I wasn't waiting for an accident.
preety posh house and interiors , love your studio and designing table :)
felt like I was on a house tour more than a tutorial
Man I like your home decor. You got style.
just having plenty of $$$$$$$$$$$
This actually etches the metal, so in that sense it is more permanent than paint or vinyl stickers.
Very good instructions! I plan on doing this to metal book plates. Thanks so much!
that house is too neat and too nice
your house is cool. nice video
Old T-shirts! Great idea. Thanks
Thanks for great clear explained video. Appreciate for sharing the GoodZ news))
Thank you for the information! I liked and subscribed 😁
Thank you very much for the info. on type of vinyl to use, just did my first test piece and the vinyl I had cut for me came up and massacred the etch. lol A more modern method as opposed to an old battery charger would be a DC regulated power supply. just bought a 30v 10 amp for 53 bucks. More than what is needed since the lower the voltage the smoother the etch. I am going to copy your set up except for the battery charger. Check out the etching done on RUclips (aegis fang build). the etching is around the 3/4 mark if you don't want to watch the whole thing.
Thank you for this video!! I can't wait to try. :)
thanks to share precious information
thanks so much.. i want to try this soon.
Make sure you're wearing a breath mask when you grind galvanized metal. The dust is toxic.
Nice video dude...
Nice
I'm getting dark black marks that are not coming out with baking soda or tooth paste. I think my jumper I'm using may be a little strong and causing corrosion or burning in the etching. any suggestions on removing this black stuff?
Is there a higher level of permanence for this vs. just using the cut vinyl or perhaps spray paint?
Just took the galvanizing off of it.
Sir, what's type of the etching? and are you using printing film? is that inkjet printer or thermal transfer paper printing?
I loved this video, thank you! I have one question: Is there any reason why you didn't just use "mirror image" in photoshop? If you did, I believe you could just transfer the vinyl directly to the metal foregoing the transfer paper bit. Not sure if that would work?
Can I do this on a yeti cup? Would it work on a black Yeti Cup
Will the decal work with ferric chloride?
How much voltage or ampere do u use
Great Video can you use press and peel paper instead of vinyl?
Lorri Carnevale abstrac. Paintings Alexandra ndra espiratos pal tins
wil any battery charger work thank you
Sir this will work on copper
a little bit of information for you to consider sir, you should never etch on galvanized metal, the etching process is basicly a DC welding process and welding galvanizing produces a toxic/noxious gas that is actually poisionous and can in enough quantities kill you. if you don't believe me check with any welding shop.
the reason is the zinc, drink milk and no worries as long as there is a fair amount of ventilation. been a welder for 31 years, welded on my fair share of galvanized material.
"the etching process is basicly a DC welding process"
No, its not. Do u see any Zinkoxide flying away?
Hydrogen is produced. Traces of other gases too, but not in quantitys to worry about.
wellllllllllllllll,,,, it sure as hell aint AC welding,,, ole USN vet
Is a car battery do the job??
what model battery charger are you using?
Schumacher Model SE-82-6
Great
