    How misalignment tolerance guide curve is generated. Is it based on the estimated time to failure of rotating machinery due to shaft misalignment or there is some other criteria please explain.

      Ashish - Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The Misalignment Tolerance Guide is based on my (and a few other colleagues) experience with the long term survivability of rotating machinery. After several decades of doing field service work, it appears that the lifespan of rotating machinery is related to the amount of misalignment in the drive system. The rotating machinery that I have aligned over the past four decades that were aligned within the ACCEPTABLE band (or better) are either still running or have failed due to some other issue besides misalignment. Perfect alignment is not necessary (and virtually impossible to attain) but if you stay within the guidelines, you have a pretty good chance of your equipment running until after you retire.
